Ginny Weasley was the youngest--and only--daughter in her family. So, naturally, she had a lot to deal with from her six brothers. To escape from their teasing and tormenting, she usually wrote in her diary. Not today, however.

"Mum," Ginny called from her room. "Mum!"

Having heard her cry, Mrs. Weasley, a plump woman with bright red hair like the rest of the family, ran up the stairs to Ginny's room.

"What is it, dear?" she asked, holding a hand to her heart, having thought Ginny was the newest subject to the twins' experiments.

"My diary's missing," she replied. "I had it here just last night."

"I'm sure you just misplaced it, dear."

"I did not misplace it," Ginny answered, temper rising.

With a sigh, Mrs. Weasley walked out into the hallway.

"Sonorus," she said, pointing her wand at her throat. Her voice was instantly magnified. "Everyone downstairs! Weasley meeting!"

"Quietus," she said, and her voice returned to normal.

In about two minutes, the entire Weasley family was assembled in the living room, with Ginny and Mrs. Weasley in the center of the room.

"Now," Mrs. Weasley stared. "Ginny's diary has gone amiss. I urge any of you that may know something to come forward, as the diary is very important to her."

At this, Fred and George exchanged a nervous glance.

"Do you have anything you'd like to share, Fred and George?" Ginny said, having seen their reactions.

"No, we don't know what happened to your dumb diary," Fred replied.

"If we come across it, though, we'll be sure to try our disappearing solution on it," said George with a laugh.

"Yeah, after we read it," mumbled Fred.

Meeting over, the family went into the kitchen for dinner. Ginny started upstairs, but was caught by her mother.

"Ginny, dear, dinner's ready."

"I know, I just have to quick check under my bed for my diary, it might be there," she said.

Mrs. Weasley nodded, and Ginny ran up the stairs.

"Now, if no one has stolen my supply, they should be..." Ginny mumbled to herself, rummaging through a drawer in her nightstand. "...here." She was holding a small bottle with a clear liquid inside.

Pocketing the bottle, she ran back downstairs to the kitchen.

"Did you find it, dear?" Mrs. Weasley asked.

"Find what?" Ginny answered, taking her seat and helping herself to mashed potatoes and gravy.

"The diary, dear," Mrs. Weasley replied, passing the peas to George.

"Oh, no, I didn't."

Ginny focused her eyes on the bowl of peas, which were now sitting on the table next to George. The bowl began to lightly shake. At that moment, the bowl fell with a clatter. As everyone got up to clean the floor, (and George, who got a lapful of peas) Ginny got up and slipped a few drops of the clear liquid into George's glass.

Putting the cork back on the bottle, Ginny put it back in her pocket and sat back down, just as everyone started eating again. Watching diligently for George to take a sip of his water, she shoveled down her dinner, getting a few looks from the rest of the family.

George then grabbed his glass and took a long drink from it.

"George," Ginny said. "Where is my diary?"

George suddenly got a glassy look about his eyes. His answer came in almost a mechanical fashion.

"Fred and I tried our disappearing solution on it last night while you were asleep," he said. "It disappeared alright. We put too much pepper-up into it. It burned."

Ginny rounded on Fred, who wasn't poisoned.

"Fred?" she asked, putting on a false cheery voice.

"I...I...We needed something to test it on that wasn't human."

"Oh, so you couldn't use a piece of parchment?"

"Well..."

"Exactly. George, did you and Fred read any of my diary?"

George looked at Ginny, eyes still glassy, and replied, "Yes."
