prologue
"WHAT?!" Hermione Granger whispered in shock. "D-dead?"
"I'm sorry," said the Emergency Medical Wizard. "We did all we could, yet no spell will ever bring back the dead."
"Ohhh..." Hermione sobbed, burying her bushy head in Ron Weasly's shoulder.
An hour ago. Was that all it had been? In a few solid minutes Hogwarts had been turned upside down. An hour ago, Hermione had been so happy. An hour ago, she'd been sitting in one of the top boxes of bleachers with Ron, cheering on the start of the Quidditch match against Slytherins.
An hour ago, Harry Potter had not been dead.
Ron's eyes were wide. "But...but people have fallen from brooms before. Are you sure he's dead? No. NO! He can't be. No, this is a dream. Harry is not dead. Not Harry...no, I refuse to believe it!"
The EMW turned his eyes downcast. "Quidditch players have fallen and broken bones in the past. Harry..he fell from an extraordinary height, and if the Slytherin Seeker hadn't purposely shoved a Bludger at him, he might've had a chance. He's good on that broom, Potter is. Er...was. He lost consciousness before he fell. Then when he hit the ground....." he trailed off. "What a horrible thing to happen on such a nice sunny day."
Hermione sobbed harder.

That night Professor Dumbledore gave an explanation to what happened. The school was quiet during his speech, none believing that two students had died in two years--Cedric last year, and now Harry. Harry, who had faced the Dark Lord and survived. It seemed unreal that Harry would die playing his favorite sport.
Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin Seeker, was expelled. He would never be looked upon good ever again in the wizarding world. He was under close Ministry view and would be sent straight to Azkaban when he was of age.
Hermione and Ron, of course, were hit the hardest. Harry was their other half; how would they get on without him?
Harry had a beautiful memorial and burial. He was buried right on the Hogwarts grounds, because it was, to him, home.
The next week was a quiet and depressing one at school. Even people who weren't friends with Harry let loose a few tears. Everyone was writing their parents with the news. When Mrs. Weasly found out, she almost had a heart attack, she was so shocked. Harry was like another son to her, and a brother to all of the Weaslys.
No one would ever forget how Harry Potter died, not for millions of years. But life went on. Ron, Mrs. Weasly, and Harry's other friends slowly got over the death through the course of the next few months. The Gryffindor Quidditch team got a new Seeker. People laughed again.
Except.
Except Hermione Granger.
And that's where the real story starts.....

Did you like it? I hope so. Perhaps its not the most believable way for him to die, but don't flame me for that. Being killed by voldemort is just so....expected.
The other chapters are longer. There will be 3 including this all together, the last installment being the longest.
Review now please.
