Locked in a Closet with Draco Malfoy

Hermione looked around the dingy, dusty broom closet for a place to sit. Unfortunately, it seemed that Draco had taken the only possible thing to sit on. Realizing this, Hermione grudgingly sat on the dirty floor. She sat so that she was facing Draco, and so that the least she could do was to glare at him.

"Well this is great...just great Granger." Draco scoffed at Hermione. "If you could have just left your big, ugly mudblood nose out of my business we wouldn't be stuck in here right now."

"If I hadn't stuck my nose into your business?!" Hermione's voice was edged with anger. "What about if you hadn't been in this damn closet in the first place? Then I would have never had to come in here. I could be done with my prefect duty if it weren't for you!"

"You were probably just hurrying through your duty so that you could study something...you're the biggest teachers pet at Hogwarts Granger." Draco rolled his eyes and began to do an impression of Hermione, "I know this answer Professor McGonagall! Please give us a test next time Professor McGonagall! I know everything Professor McGonagall!"

By this time Hermione had, had enough of Draco's impression of her. She swiftly got to her feet and angrily looked down at Draco sitting on the over turned bucket.

"How DARE you Draco Malfoy! Maybe I am a little paranoid about my learning here at Hogwarts. And yes, I unlike you actually do my work and am trying to become a high-quality witch." Hermione shrieked at Draco. "But that doesn't make me a teachers pet! I think that you are just jealous that someone who is not a pure blood is better at everything compared to someone who is a pure blood!"

Apparently Hermione's last words hit a little too close to home for Draco. He jumped up from the over turned bucket with a poisonous look on his face. As he straightened himself to look down at Hermione, she noticed his gray eyes becoming dark with anger.

"You know nothing about being a pure blood Granger! I would rather kiss my big toe then ever become a mudblood! And you may do well in your classes, but you will never be considered a "real witch" in my eyes." Draco's voice raged as he continued to look down at Hermione. For a split second Hermione thought she saw a hint of sadness in Draco's eyes, but the next second she convinced herself that she had just imagined it.

Hermione stepped away from Draco's piercing glare and sighed to herself.

"Alright Malfoy. We need to try and get out of here before we both kill each other. Let's just calm down and think of a way to get out."

"Well since you're so smart, I think I will let you figure it out all by yourself." As Draco went to sit back down on the bucket again, the single light bulb hanging from the closet ceiling started to blink and become dimmer.

"No!! We are not going to be stuck here in a closet, in the dark together!" Hermione frantically said as she looked around for an extra light bulb. However, after quickly searching the small closet it became apparent that there were no extra light bulbs.

"I can't believe that I am actually doing this...but....Malfoy? Do you know any kind of charm that will help keep this light bulb going? I know that we have the lumos spell...but that sometimes doesn't work in really small spaces!" Hermione tried to steady her voice as she actually asked for Malfoy's help.

But before Draco could reply, the light bulb flickered once more and then went completely out........
