'Okay Potter, concentrate on what you're doing.. It's not that hard.. Just don't look at her.. Oh you're weak!'

'But doesn't she look lovely? I could just stare at her all day..'

'Yeah well you can't because you're supposed to be staring at the book that you're supposed to be studying!'

'I will.. In a few minutes, okay?'

'Why do I even try?'

"Harry, is there something wrong?"

'Quick Potter! Say something!'

"Er.."

'Smart move man.. Glad to be your conscience..'

'Oh sod off!'

"Nothing's wrong.. I guess I've been studying too hard.. Hermione, what do you say we take a break for now?"

"Oh Harry, you know I can't.."

"Please?"

"All right.." Harry Potter closed his book in relief. He never thought he would be able to get out of that one.

Harry started to have feelings towards his best friend, Hermione Granger, during fifth year. Who wouldn't, when Hermione came into their compartment not as a bushy-haired, buck-tooth know-it-all but as a wavy-haired, straight-teeth woman. Harry could've sworn his jaw hit the floor REALLY hard when he saw what transformation his best friend has gone through.

It wasn't that he didn't transform either. According to Ron Weasley's girlfriend (which happens to be Hermione and Harry's new girl best friend along with Ginny Weasley, Ron's sister) Lavender Brown, he has become the most eligible bachelors in Hogwarts.

"With your unruly raven hair and your gorgeous emerald eyes not to mention your well-toned body that we've all grown to love, who could resist someone like you?" Lavender had said. Then she smiled.

"Of course, that doesn't include me and Ginny, but that doesn't mean we weren't victims before," she added.

Harry's other best friend, Ron, changed too. His flaming red hair turned into more of an auburn color, and with his new status as the Quidditch Keeper, it was enough to take the female population of Hogwarts off Harry's back and turn to Ron, but seeing as he's only got eyes for Lavender, most of those female came back to Harry.

During the time when Harry was preparing to defeat Voldemort, Draco Malfoy, Harry and Ron's former nemesis, surprised everyone by not becoming a Death Eater and killing his own father, Lucius Malfoy, and handing him over to the Aurors. Ron almost fainted when he found out that Ginny and Draco have been seeing each other behind his back and almost punched Draco if it wasn't for Ginny who went in front of Draco and took the blow. Ron had no choice BUT to approve of Draco and Ginny dating because he had broken Ginny's jaw. It wasn't long before Draco himself had become one of Harry's best friends, and now, Harry, Hermione and Ron are no longer a trio because 3 people had been added to that: Lavender, Ginny and Draco.

"Harry, you're freaking me out. Are you okay?" Hermione's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. They were in the Common Room, studying for Potions, until his mind wandered off to Hermione, who was his only companion because Ron, Lavender, Ginny and Draco went off somewhere.

"I'm okay, don't worry. I was just remembering how so many things happened after I defeated Voldemort," Harry replied. Hermione cocked an eyebrow.

"Well you seem to be thinking of something else, or rather, SOMEONE else," Hermione smiled mischievously, and it took all of Harry's self-control not to grab Hermione right there and kiss her senseless.

"I'm right, aren't I?" Hermione asked, and Harry thought her smile faltered for a moment but it was gone the moment it came.

"I guess you can say that," Harry replied, cursing his cheeks from going red. Hermione stood up and sat in front of Harry.

"Now this is juicy. Who captured the heart of Harry Potter this time?" she asked, her smile growing wider, but Harry noticed that her eyes were a different story. Harry bit his lip. Should he tell her?

"Harry, you better tell me or else we'll be staying out here for the whole night, now speak up!" Hermione's tone of voice got him spilling it all out.

"I like this girl, who happens to be a really good friend of mine, but I can't tell her because I don't know if she feels the same way about me and I don't want to ruin our friendship but it's getting harder and harder to keep it from her because everytime she smiles, it makes me want to kiss her, and when she laughs, my heart skips, and when she walks in a room, it just seems brighter than before, and when our eyes meet, I could actually feel myself falling for her. Hard. And I just don't know what to do," Harry blurted out. He watched closely as Hermione nodded, but her smile was completely gone and her cinnamon brown eyes have completely lost its warmth.

"Are you in love with her?" Hermione whispered. Harry looked deep in her eyes.

"Yes," he said, not breaking his gaze from her.

'Please figure out that it's you I was talking about,' he pleaded silently. Hermione stood up and gathered her things.

"I hope you get to tell her soon, because I know that any girl would be lucky to have such a wonderful person to love her," she said, but she wasn't looking at Harry.

Once she had all her things, she bent down and kissed Harry on the cheek before running off to the girl's dormitories. What she didn't know was that Harry noticed the tears falling down in her face when she ran. He sighed.

"Why couldn't I just tell her that it was her I'm in love with?" he asked the empty Common Room.

'Because you're a git, that's why,' his conscience said to his mind, and for once, Harry agreed with it.
