Chapter 1: Eavesdropping Is Not a Crime

Bang, bang. A boy was hitting his head against the wall of the small, nearly empty compartment. "Oww..." He moaned, rubbing the spot that was sure to have a bruise in no time. Why was he doing this? Well, he was trying to get what his mom had said out of his head. 'Why can't you be more like your brother!' No luck. Of all the kids in Hogwarts, he was the only one that had been given the title of 'Mut'; that kid was Kasen Lirit, the one sitting, alone, near the back of the train.

----

Evan knocked on the compartment door nervous as hell. Slowly, he slid it open and sat down across from his friend who was currently sleeping. He started to panic. 'I can't tell her!'

----

Kasen stopped banging his head on the wall, once he heard a compartment door open and close. Being that he was a bit nosey, and extremely bored, he decided to listen in. Hopefully, it was something to listen in on. He gently rested his ear against the wall, trying to hear.

Mira opened her eyes, seeing the figure before her. "Oh, Evan I didn't hear you come in."

Evan swallowed. "Was silent entrance I guess... C-could you put that thing away! I have something I need to talk to you about..." 'Holy Shit. Holy Shit! Holy Shit!!'

Kasen's eyes grew wide, wanting to hear more. He knew who it was and that made him want to listen even more. Part of him told him to stop, before he didn't have ears to listen with.

Mira smiled and put the knife down beside her. "Really?"

"You know how we hate little connection over the summer? Remember in my last letter I said that I was sorry about that? The reason why I was so busy was because...I have a girlfriend."

"And..?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to tell you the reason. You want something to eat? I have money for the trolley."

"Sure," she replied, turning to look out of the window. 'Girlfriend?! Where the hell did this fuckin' bitch come from? God has saved her by not putting her in Hogwarts! I would...I would-'

"Oh, and this year, she's visiting...Well, she's coming to Hogsmeade a lot. She goes to another magic school it's in France or something. So, she has to use Floo powder. I can't believe you're going to get to meet her a lot of times."

"Sure." Mira rolled her eyes and climbed on top of her seat. "I hope I won't make a bad impression. Remember the knife I was just working on?" She stood on her seat, pulling a box down from the hanger above. "Well, I got extremely bored this summer and started to work on this knife. It took me the entire summer to complete both of them, but yours is a little different." She opened the box and handed a gun to Evan.

"It's not even a blade, Mira." Evan said, sounding a little confused. "What? Do you expect me to shoot the crap outta people?"

Kasen, who was still listening, bit his lip. 'Knife? Gun? HOLY CRAP!!'

Mira laughed, and then picked up her knife. She folded one blade in and the knife morphed into a gun. "You expect me to shoot the crap outta people?"

"Yes, I do!" Evan teased. "So, how do I work this thing?"

"Use all of the bullets for the gun and pull the trigger." She pulled back the trigger and it changed back into her knife. "See?"

'Let them murder REAL Slytherins!' Kasen's mind screamed as he closed his eyes. "Real Slytherins! Crap. I hope they didn't hear that..."

"Did you hear that?" Evan asked, looking around. "I guess I just thought I heard something."

"What you thought was right. There's somebody eavesdropping. Could you go see what is out there?"

"Crap... I'm dead and buried." Kasen muttered just as Evan opened the door to Kasen's compartment.

"No, I wouldn't spare enough time to actually burry you." Evan smirked, leaning on Kasen's compartment door.

The dark haired boy hit his head against the wall. "At least make it quick. Really, you'd be doing me a favor."

"You're going to make me really kill you, dolt. I just need you to be silent. Got it?" Kasen rolled his eyes.

"Fine, but do you really think you'd be happy about it? You'd be doing me a favor, and I know you'd hate to do that."

"Well, killing you would be fun, even if it was doing you a favor. But, then again, would Mira want me to kill you?"

"If you did, the Underground might loose some money."

"That's true. You are our main money maker. We would lose a huge amount of profits without you."

Kasen nodded. 'No you're just her bitch.'

Evan glared at him, then left; he'd deal with him later. Right now, Evan had some other business to attend to.

Letting out a small laugh, Kasen put his feet on the seat across from him. 'Too easy.'

~~~
"Anything new with you lately?" asked Evan.
"Well, I just looked out the window."
"Seriously Mira, what were you doing over the summer? You didn't say much, only that you made these knives."
"Well, I didn't sleep much... I worked out some and went to a muggle summer school..." Thinking about it, she really didn't do much this summer.
"Hmm... And I always thought murderers lead a more exciting life..." Kasen mumbled still listening.
Evan banged on the wall. "Nothing else? I rode a lot of horses. I was training wild horses and it hurt like hell."
"Nope, I really didn't. If you include the crap I usually do then, well, I really didn't do anything new."
"You meet anyone new?" Kasen pressed his ear to the wall.
"Obviously you must like someone now. Maybe...someone at Hogwarts?" Evan mentioned with a smile.
Mira felt angered by his question. "Well maybe I do, maybe I don't. It's really none of your business anyway, with a girlfriend and all," she snapped.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't know it offended you that I had someone."
'Maybe this will be the end of the Underground.' Kasen thought hopefully, while glancing out the window.
Mira turned away as tears started in her eyes. "Maybe you should have thought about that before you fucked her. Well, fuck you, Evan."
"Sorry..." Evan stood up and left the compartment, walking into the dark haired boy's on accident. "Did you hear that?"
Kasen smirked. "Hear what?"
****
"Did you hear that?"
"Yeah about the Bounty Hunters! I heard that only the Slytherins get to use them."
"But, I heard anyone can."
"And I heard that they weren't even sorted."
This was what all of the students at Hogwarts were talking about once they had gotten to school; The Underground. A secret organization made by two of the worst students in Hogwarts. It was just about the only thing in Hogwarts to do at the time...and they got paid.
Evan sat at the Gryffindor table as far as he could possibly get away from Mira. He would glance down at her every other minute and sigh to himself. But he averted from Mira and to his younger sister as the sorting hat was placing on her head. "Gryffindor!" It shouted.
Evan jumped out of his seat as his younger sister ran over to him and gave him a squeeze. "Now we can be together a lot! Right, Evan?"
"Too much love Mya..."
----
Kasen sat at the Slytherin table, trying to ignore the hat. This was his least favorite part of the year. He refused to look up. He was invisible, and when he was visible he was unwanted, it was that simple. Kasen eyes bore into the book in front of him, he lazily turned the page. 'Loyal enough to be a Hufflepuff, smart enough for Ravenclaw... But I think...SLYTHERIN!' "Stupid hat, if only I could burn it or set some moths after it."
----
Mira watched as the little kids got sorted. She considered them little kids since, they were little and they were kids. During her sorting, Mira was almost put in Hufflepuff, but now anyone could see why she was a Gryffindor. Sighing, she turned away from the children and put her head down on the table.
----
Evan looked down the table and frowned. 'Mira looks lonely...maybe I should...' He got up and started to walk over to where Mira was sitting. 'No...I'll say something stupid...' He continued walking, passing Mira and exiting the Great Hall.
~~~

Mira stared at the person in front of her.

The boy looked up, wiping his face with a napkin. "Is there something wrong?"

"Yes. Could you eat like a human being and not a dog?"

"Sorry, you know, you would seem a lot nicer to be around if you smiled more." Mira kept a straight face.

"Whatever, Remus."

A little girl with brown hair, and eyes twinkling with joy, walked up to Mira. "Hiya! I'm Mya. Don't think I met you on the train. Are you a first year too?"

Mira fumed and Remus answered for her. "No, she's a sixth year like me. But she's just short is all."

Mya smiled at Remus. "Oh. What's your name? Are you the two people doing that business thinga-ma-bobber?"

"No. But I'm Remus Lupin. And she is..." Mira turned the other way. "Rude."

Mya poked Mira. "Come on say your name... Hey! You're the girl that Evan was writing to... Mira...Le- something." She smiled a toothy grin and looked around. "Where did he go? I assume you two are the best of friends, right? I'm Mya Sampleton."

----

Kasen glanced up from his book, hearing people at the table laughing. A glob of mashed potatoes hit his ear. Letting out a small sigh, he wiped the potato away, giving the Slytherins a bitter glare. He rolled his eyes, grabbed his book and headed to the library; books were better than people. Sitting on the floor in the back of the room, Kasen took a pocket knife out of his robes. "I should have just stabbed him when I had the chance. He probably would have shot or stabbed me, but dying after hurting him would be a good way to end it. She's mine anyway..."

----

Mira gave the little girl a stare. "Yeah, I know your brother, but he never told me he had a sister. And the last name is unimportant. The less you know about me the better."

"Ah, he doesn't say much about me and I don't say much about him either. But I guess you must not like him very much. Well...Bye, Mira." With that little Mya skipped away.

"I hate little kids," she mumbled

"Why? You're probably going to have one by that Evan fellow you always hang around. Especially, from what happened in Potions last year."

She blushed. "That's exactly why I don't talk to you." After that she got up and left the table, but halfway out of the Great Hall she stopped. 'Actually...I wouldn't mind that...'

~~~~
"Hullo, Mira isn't a very nice person. Why do you like her?" Mya asked pulling up a chair next to her brother.
Evan resisted the urge to yank her head off. "Because... I don't know."
