Draco had a secret; a big secret. He shared it with only one person, the one person his father would never accept, the person he could never openly be with. In the end that didn't matter, all that mattered was that he was in love and his feelings were returned. He often wondered how people would react of they found out, but then he looked into those gorgeous green eyes and all thought vanished from his mind, like always. He couldn't explain it but those eyes always seemed to have that effect on him. Perhaps it came with being in love.

Love. He had heard it funny things to people but he hadn't believed this notion until last year. He had been completely ready to take his rightful place as a Death Eater at the side of his father and the Dark Lord, their master. Life, however, is never that simple, as Draco had learnt over the years. It wasn't until that annoying, unkempt Gryffindor showed him that life was precious, and should not be destroyed as though it was worthless, that he realised he was making a big mistake.

Draco couldn't pinpoint exactly when the transition from enemy to friend had taken place. Hell, he didn't even know when the transition from friend to lover had occurred, well not in the physical sense of the word at least. All he could remember was the love he now felt for the most courageous person he had ever come to know; well he was a Gryffindor after all. He was aware that the boundaries had become blurred and he could no longer remember the feeling of hate he had once felt for his love, All Draco knew was that he had been given a new perspective in life, courtesy of Harry Potter.

Harry. The thought of his partner brought both pleasure and pain; the wonder of knowing the happiness they were to encounter for the rest of their lives together, contrasted with the memory of the sacrifices he had made; not that he wouldn't make them all over again, of course. All of the sacrifices but one, which Harry had ensured he would never have to give up. Despite having had his status as the Malfoy family heir revoked, and the sudden loss of his fortune that came with this title, Draco had continued to live a life of luxury, mainly due to Harry's own fortune.

Draco turned to face his reflection in the mirror behind him. Even though he no longer felt it, he still looked every bit a Malfoy, dressed in his especially tailor-made, fine, expensive silver, green and black Versace suit; he had even persuaded Harry to have one made, who agreed, provided that instead of green and silver, his would be red and gold. Bloody Gryffindor.

The Slytherin's thoughts returned to his father, to the moment he had told him that he didn't want to be a Death Eater. Sure, Lucius Malfoy had taken it badly, it was understandable that he wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, however dark and illegal they were. Draco, on the other hand, was no longer his father's son and, due to the influence of Harry, had become a loving, considerate person. True, he was still a cunning, selfish coward, like most of his housemates, but Draco Malfoy was no longer Death Eater material.

Draco was glad that he had never told Lucius precisely why he could no longer uphold the 'family honour'; a Death Eater was hardly a suitable husband for The Boy Who Lived now, was it? Draco knew that his father would never forgive him, Lucius had completely cut his son out of his life, but as Draco turned once more to look at Mr Harry Potter, newlywed and husband of reformed-ex-Death-Eater Draco Malfoy, he wondered, not for the last time, what would happen if his father knew. Oh well, he shrugged, he would cross that bridge when he came to it.
