"Don't Tell Me"

Don't tell me you're not ready,

Don't tell me you won't be there,

Don't tell me you don't need me,

Just tell me you care.

He took her gently by the hand,

Placed it o'er his honest heart,

He searched into the light caramel eyes,

The eyes of his counterpart.

Hermione, he'd breathe affectionately,

In a delicate whisper so soft,

His words caressed the tip of her ear,

And tickled away her fear.

They shouldn't be here,

No, not here, not now,

The war has just ended,

But their love just begun.

She clung tightly onto him,

But knew inside she shouldn't,

He felt her begin to hesitate,

And quietly pulled her in closer.

He wanted to give her everything,

Every fiber of his being,

Wanted her to be happy,

And steal away her agony.

He brushed away a loose strand of hair,

Blocking her beautiful features,

And kissed her lightly on her rosy cheek;

She turned her head and kissed him back,

He held her after that.

You're all I have,

You're all I need,

You're all I want,

So please...

She looked away abashed,

But for just one moment,

Down her face trickled a lonely tear,

That told him all he needed to hear.

It wasn't that she didn't love him,

Nor was it that she didn't want him,

She remembered those who died,

Those to whom she lied.

She shook her head firmly,

And looked up in his cool grey eyes,

I can't do this Draco,

I can't tell anymore lies.

She closed her eyes,

Taking in a cold breath of air,

She had just noticed,

How very cold it was out there.

She watched as a sad shadow fell across his prefect face,

His eyebrows crept down and covered his eyes,

And he quickly looked away,

Giving a little nod, he returned his gaze to her.

He looked at her one last time,

Painting a portrait inside his mind.

He'll never forget this,

He'll never forget her; she's his only one.

He sadly turned his back, head dropped lowly to the floor,

Heaving a heavy sigh, he said to her once more,

I love you Hermione,

I'll love you to the day I die.

She heard his final words,

But continued standing in uncertain silence,

She watched as her love disappeared,

'til he was but a vertical line in the horizon.

This wasn't what she wanted,

She realized a bit too late,

She desperately called out to him,

She told him to wait.

But his ears never heard those words,

Those words he longed to hear,

He would go on living life,

Not knowing they were there.

She wanted to tell him,

The words he never heard,

She wanted to tell him.

So before he walked away,

He expressed four lines of love,

He told her not to tell him.

"Don't tell me you're not ready,

Don't tell me you won't be there,

Don't tell me you don't need me,

Just tell me you care."

Author notes: Too romancy? Not clear enough? Awesome? I'd like to hear what you have to say!
