For Us . . . All of Us

Prologue

It was five years after Draco had defeated Voldemort. Ron and Hermione had married straight out of Hogwarts. Draco had been Ginny's escort to the wedding much to Ron's dismay. Most of the Weasley clan had, albeit reluctantly, accepted that Draco had changed. Ron, however, had remained stubbornly unconvinced until he had saved his first daughter during a Death Eater attack. Despite the fact that Voldemort was dead, Death Eater attacks were still a frequent problem. After that incident Ron had relented and admitted he was wrong. Exactly four years after Voldemort's defeat it was Ginny's turn to walk down the aisle to become Mrs. Draco Malfoy.

One year later, twenty-four-year-old Draco Malfoy was running around his and Ginny's London flat, taking care of last minute details for their first anniversary night. He was just adjusting the flower arrangement for the twentieth time when the doorbell rang. Draco went over to the door and muttered a few words to rid the door of its wards and flung the door open with a disgruntled, "What do you want?"

His eyes were met with a sight that made his blood run cold.

"Mr. Malfoy," said the man with the wand. "We'd like to have a word with you."

Draco backed into the apartment, his visitors entering after him and shutting the door.

"We need you to do something for us," said the spokesman of the group. "Are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way."

Draco sighed and slumped his shoulders in mock defeat, which covered his grabbing his wand. He lifted his head and, whipping out his wand said, "The hard way. Stupefy!"

Draco lept behind their couch as his spell hit the leader. Split seconds later, spells zoomed over Draco's head as the other three attackers reacted to Draco's sudden actions. Draco took a quick look around, assessing the situation and what he could do.

He decided on bolting for the bedroom. There was more he could work with in there than out here. He turned and dashed for the open doorway, diving into it as he caught a glimpse of the attackers. They had moved around the table, trying to get at him from the side. They then clambered over the over the table, ruining all of Draco's preparation.

Draco rolled as he hit the floor and as he stood up, was met with a wand in his face.

Of course, Draco thought. They Apparated when I took the wards down.

The Death Eater smiled and said, "Nightie, night," and flicked their wand. Draco crumpled to the floor, out cold.

The rest of the Death Eaters came into the room and picked up Draco. They started towards the door of the bedroom when they heard a voice from the front door.

"Honey, I'm home!" Ginny Weasley-Malfoy called as she stepped through the door. She shut the door and went into the living room where she surveyed the damage left by the Death Eaters haste.

She turned her head and managed to catch a glimpse of the unconscious Draco and the troop of Death Eaters just before they Disapparated.

Ginny rushed into the bedroom and spotted Draco's wand lying on the floor. She went over and crouched down to pick it up.

She fingered it, tears running down her cheeks and whispered, "Draco."
