Harry and Hermione finally break their holds on one another and dry both of their eyes.

"So you didn't mean it?"

"No of course not."

"Then why did you say it?"

"Well, it's just that, it wasn't explosive."

Harry sighs and lowers his head in disgrace.

"It's nothing to be ashamed about. I still liked it, it was...nice," she says sweetly.

"What did I do wrong?"

"Well," she says nervously, "it wasn't the longest experience in the world and we weren't in rhythm."

"Oh, I-I'm sorry." Depression and shame fill Harry's voice.

"Harry, don't be, like I said I enjoyed it."

There is a long pause as Hermione tries to figure a way to reassure Harry of his success and Harry mentally beats himself. Finally, Hermione finds the words she needs. "Harry, it's not a big deal. I love you and you've done so many other things for me. Don't worry about it."

Harry just sits there. Hermione turns his head towards her and kisses him. Harry makes no effort to return the kiss, thinking he won't satisfy her.

Hermione pulls away and Harry looks at the floor again. "Thank you."

Hermione sighs in frustration and decides to change the subject. "So, your birthday is coming up."

Harry stays still.

"What do you want?"

"Nothing."

"Oh, come on there must be something."

"There isn't, being with you is all I need."

Looking around the room for inspiration on what to get him or even what to say, Hermione is distracted by Harry's sweetness. "Still I want to know what you want."

"I don't want anything, and I don't want you to get anything for me."

"Why not?"

"I don't deserve anything. I already have more than I deserve, you, and you are so kind to me. To ask anything from you would be sinful."

"Harry, it's not sinful."

Receiving no reply, Hermione gives up on asking him what to get him. 'I'll just have to go out and wing it. I have to get him something.' she thinks to herself.

"Well, when shall we have your party?"

"I don't need a party. You should go on vacation with Ginny, you two haven't hung out together for a while."

"We just did, today. Anyway, that's beside the point. It doesn't matter if you don't need a party. The least I can do is throw you a party if I can't get you a present."

"I don't mean to sound ungrateful, even though I am, but I don't want you doing this for me. I don't want you to do anything for me, ever. I just don't deserve it. I need to do something for you instead. I'm upsetting you and I walked in on your get-together with Ginny and I hurt you when I cried and-"

"Harry, what more can you do for me?"

"Give you a break from me. All I've done is upset you and caused you pain and not satisfied you."

"A break? I hardly ever see you, Harry, and you haven't caused me any pain." Her is voice becoming softer.

Harry has been working two jobs, being an Auror and working as a laborer. Since he buys Hermione something almost once a week, and sometimes more than that, his personal account has been dwindling along with the money he uses to pay the bills with.

"I know, but you deserve to be out with your best friend and away from the burden of living with me."

"How can you say that? You work almost everyday for long hours, and you still have time to come home and make dinner and do the laundry for me and clean the apartment with me. On top of that you go to any show with me and we do whatever I want to do and you buy me stuff all the time. I wonder how you do it, and how you're able to pay for it all. I know Aurors get paid well but not that well. How do you pay for it all?"

"Well, I-I work another job as well. I am a laborer for anyone who needs me. It pays okay but I need to work it so I can make you happy."

"I don't need all this stuff, Harry. I mean, I love it when you get me stuff but I don't need it to be happy."

"But you love it when I get you what you want. It makes you happier, and I need to make you as happy as possible."

"And why is that?"

"Because that is the only way you'll stay with me. I know I'm not very attractive and I don't have a lot of good qualities and I can't satisfy girls, so I have to make you happy in the only way I can."

Hermione is now realizing just how compassionate Harry really is. "Harry, I love you. To be married to you and live to you is my happiness. You don't have to give me anything."

"But I-"

"Okay, do you want to give me something right now?" Hermione is getting a little fed up with Harry's retaliations.

Harry kicks himself for not having anything for her. "Yes, I'm sorry I don't have anything."

She ignores the apology. "Then give me your permission to handle your wand."

"What? Hermione, I can't, it wouldn't please you,"

"Please," she says in an innocent voice.

Harry hesitates. "Okay."

Harry stands up and faces Hermione with his eyes shut.

Hermione pulls off his trousers and boxers. "What's wrong, Harry?"

"I-I...just nervous."

Apparently that's not all he is, since his wand is at, shall we say, attention.

"It's okay, Harry, just relax."

"Wait, Hermione...I-how can I pleasure you?"

"Why?"

"I can't let you do this unless you're getting something out of it."

Hermione takes off her skirt and panties. "Harry, look down at me."

Harry looks without caution then quickly closes his eyes as he sees what Hermione had intended him to look at. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry, I'm sorry-"

Hermione stands up, presses her body against his, making Harry's wand throb, and kisses him hard. After a minute she pulls away slowly and softly and sees Harry wide-eyed. "Now lay down on the couch."

Harry nervously obliges as ordered. Hermione lies on top of him in the opposite direction. "Pleasure me."

Suffice it to say, Harry does as he is told, and is able to go the extra kilometer. Hermione gives Harry a whole new meaning to the word pleasure. Then she turns herself around and kisses Harry. "Happy birthday."

With much gratitude, Harry is able to get out. "Thank you."

Hermione rolls on top of him, looks at him for a second, then leans in slowly and kisses him softly as Harry kisses her in the same way. Hermione smiles against his lips and gives Harry's wand a home. Let's just say, Harry goes several extra kilometers for Hermione, even though it is his birthday.

Okay, so what did you think? I really want to know. I know the ending was kind of physical. Hope it didn't ruin it.
