In the family room of Harry and Hermione's apartment, Hermione sits on the couch while Harry walks in.

"I know it isn't much, but here it is." Harry reveals his birthday present to Hermione. It is the new encyclopedia, "The Past and Present of the Wizarding World," which is a very expensive and big book. The book, if on the ground, comes up to Harry's knees and cost Harry half a year's pay.

The beaming Hermione stands up to go take the book off of struggling Harry's hands with an immeasurable amount of surprise and enthusiasm. "Harry, how ever did you get it, I heard that they only made a hundred copies and that it was extremely expensive."

"I called on a couple favors." This was in fact one of the biggest understatements of the millennia. Harry had actually called in all the favors people owed him, bribed a few people with money, and now owe several people favors just to get access to the book. Then, he bought the book using the money he stores in his personal vault, which is made up of the left over money from his Auror's pay after all the bills have been paid.

"Oh, thank you, Harry. I love you." Hermione hugs him. She quickly sets the book on the table, which slumps from the weight of the book, opens it up, and starts flipping through some of the pages.

Harry then pulls out one small box from his pocket. "Here's the other part of the present."

Hermione looks in utter shock that she's getting more. She takes the wand length box and opens it. A sparkling gold chain appears with a blinding amount of diamonds filling the center of the chain. Hermione's face softens in awe of the necklace and her boyfriend's generosity. "Oh, Harry, it's beautiful. You didn't have to get me this."

"I wanted to and plus, you deserve it." A soft smile appears on his face.

"How do I deserve all of this? You go to work and pay the bills, I just sit here and tidy up," she says in a soft, grateful voice.

"You do all the laundry and you cook."

"I cook maybe once every other week, you come home and cook all the time."

"Still, you deserve it." Harry's voice is humble and hints at his happiness that Hermione likes her presents. He didn't think she would even consider liking what he got her. "I also reserved a table at the Wizard's Hall, if you want to go," he says meekly.

"The Wizard's Hall! How did you-" She gets up and hugs him, cutting herself off. "I love you so much."

Harry shivers from the embrace he has received.

Hermione gives him a long kiss on the lips, pulls away and smiles. "You're more than I deserve."

Harry once again shivers from the kiss she gave him and the huge compliment that he will not believe is true. Even though this marks their one-year anniversary, the two have never done anything but hug. Harry always swore to himself that if he ever got the chance to date Hermione, that he would never kiss her unless she kissed him or gave him permission. Even then, he would try to avoid it for he did not want to stain her beauty.

Later that evening after Hermione had read the first three chapters of her new book, the Harry and Hermione got dressed up, with Hermione wearing her new necklace, and went to dinner at the Wizard's Hall.

"I'd never thought I would eat here. You really didn't have done all this for me, I'm only turning twenty-two."

"Yes I did and I'm sorry I didn't get you anything else," he says as if he was in trouble."

"Harry, anything else and I would've died from happiness," she says jokingly.

"What!" Alarm in Harry's voice.

"I mean this is already surpassing the point of going above and beyond, Harry, why would you need to give me more."

"I love you, and I owe you that much."

"Harry, you don't owe me anything." She holds his hands.

They order, Hermione orders a lobster and shrimp dinner while Harry orders a small salad.

"That's all you're having?" Concern encompasses Hermione's voice.

"I'm not that hungry, besides this dinner is for you."

"Harry, you're allowed to enjoy yourself too," Hermione says in a matter of fact way.

After dinner, Harry orders a two glasses of wine for himself and Hermione.

"To you, Hermione, for allowing me to be your boyfriend."

Hermione smiles as she is touched by Harry's words. They both take a sip and Harry quickly goes over to Hermione and kneels down. He fiddles a small square box in pocket.

"Her-Hermione, I...w-would you," Harry sweats and shakes from nervousness, "would you, marry me." Harry can't bear to look at Hermione's face as he takes out the box and opens it. He hides his cringing face in hopes that when she laughs at him, she will not see the sorrowful tears roll down his eyes.

There is a long pause as Hermione is frozen in her seat crying tears of unimaginable happiness. Harry takes the silence as a rejection of the ring.

"I understand your wanting to not be with me. I'm sorry I ever bothered you with my existence," Harry says in an ashamed, depressed, and broken voice as tears run down his cheeks.

Hermione finally leaps onto him and forces him to the ground, kissing him.

"I accept. I love you." Hermione manages to get out as she pulls away.

Harry is in utter shock, happiness, and gratitude of her answer. He is also shaking from the kiss bestowed upon him, as he has never been kissed before.

"How could I not accept?"

"I didn't think you-"

Hermione lays on top of him and kisses him long and hard.
