Story Summary:
Songfic written from the inspiration of a song from ‘Rent’: ‘Take Me Or Leave Me’. This story does host the idea of femmeslash, but there is nothing graphic inside; basically only the mention. (Hermione/girl!Blaise)

Author's Note:
Urgh, this is a pointless little story, that took a little urging from me to write. I don't know how to write anything like romance; so just try to forgive that part.....I'm sorry if the narrative is a bit repetitive, I just have the feeling that it is. As my brother would say "you have to just repeat it for the stupid people who don't get it the first time." but I think that is silly reasoning, so I told him that only stupid people would sit and repeat things over and over. So in here, I am stupid; you are smart:) Please read and review (sorry about the above ramblings!:p)

Hermione Granger opened her eyes at the soft, sweet touch on her lips and, for a second, she smiled at who it was. But, then, earlier that day reminded her once again just exactly why she had been crying all day long. That little flirt her romantic involvement was, and it wasn't just with her, all this flirting. Hermione steeled herself from the explosion that was currently occurring inside her head. Maybe she should get the facts first?

Opening your eyes to see the one you love is probably one of the most gratifying and pleasing things that you can ever find on this planet. And, for Hermione, this was no exception. Opening her eyes to see Blaise was the most wonderful feeling in the world, but as she woke fully, she could remember. She remember why she fled to the library rather than staying in the Gryffindor Tower with her friends. She could remember just why she had fallen asleep, purely exhausted, in the library. She could remember the reason why she had invisible tear tracks stained into her cheeks.

Blaise looked at Hermione and saw the odd expression on her face, she look betrayed, she looked scared, and she looked very sad.

"Hermione, pookie, baby, what is wrong?" Blaise said, kneeling on the ground at Hermione's feet.

Hermione stared at the beauty in front of her. While she was not faultless, her small little flaws made her just more beautiful. While her long, silky black hair and turquoise eyes were gorgeous and were definitely assets for her, the huge scar across her cheek just added to the beautiful décor. It was a constant reminder that not everything that is beautiful is perfect.

Noticing the odd expression on Hermione's face, Blaise inched into the seat with Hermione who moved slightly, just barely allowing space for the girl to climb into the seat with her.

"Hermione, what is wrog?" Blaise said, attempting to sound demanding and caring at the same time. "Please tell me."

"Blaise, where were you this morning?"

"Outside the Great Hall with some of my friends," she said after a moment of thought. "Why?"

"I saw you," she paused to take a steadying and calming breath, "with your friends. They were all....looking at you funny."

When Hermione paused, Blaise raised her eyebrows questioningly, urging Hermione on.

"And you were...you were, leading them on. Flirting and touching and they were all calling you pet names..."

"Oh, Hermione," Blaise said with a sigh. Don't you know me well enough by now?"

Every single day,
I walk down the street.

I hear people say:

"Baby, so sweet."

Ever since puberty,

Everybody stares at me.

Boys, girls, I can't help it, baby.

Blaise moved on the chair until she was sitting in Hermione's lap; she reached up and toyed with a bit of Hermione's fringe, but Hermione pushed the pale hand gently away.

"I can't stand seeing you doing that. Can you just...not do it, for me? Just this one thing? It is a horrible thing to watch."

Blaise turned away from Hermione, disappointment evident on her face.

"I'm not going to sacrifice who I am, Hermione. Both of us know who I care about and that is all that matters."

So be kind,

And don't lose your mind.

Just remember that I'm your baby.

Take me for what I am,

Who I was meant to be,

And if you give a damn,

Take me baby or leave me.

Blaise stood and moved away from Hermione and Hermione regretfully watched her walked away. She thought momentarily that maybe she shouldn't have mentioned anything about it. But pretty quickly her pride kicked in and she would not listen to inner reason anymore. All that mattered was what had occurred earlier.

"I am who I am, Hermione," Blaise said, turning to look at Hermione. "I promise that nothing was going on. It was just...just nothing."

Take me baby or leave me.

"I have to be free to do what I need. I was born to stand out, and stand out I will do."

"But, Blaise..."

Blaise shushed the girl and turned away once again.

A tiger in a cage

Can never see the sun,

This diva needs her stage,

Baby.

Let's have fun!

Like a wild animal caught in a cage, the girl paced back and forth. Coming back to sit next to Hermione again, she looked straight into her eyes, and leaned forward and met Hermione's lips with hers. Before Hermione was ready to break the kiss, Blaise moved away.

"I want you, Hermione, really I do. But I can't be followed around like you're my mother hen. I am not the only one of us who likes to be noticed, you do too; all those times in classes you raise your hand, give an answer that is twice as much as needed.

"Do you know how many people want to be you, just because you have me? And, it is you, Hermione, that I choose...because...I love you."

You are the one I choose,

Folks would kill to fill your shoes.

You love the limelight too, now, baby.

So be mine,

But don't waste my time,

Crying, 'oh honey bear, are you still my, my, my baby?'

Take me for what I am,

Who I was meant to be,

And if you give a damn,

Take me baby or leave me.

No way can I be what I'm not.

But hey, don't you want your girl hot?

Don't fight; don't lose your head,

'Cause every night who's in your bed?

Who....who's in your bed?

Kiss me, pookie.

The enticing girl leaned towards Hermione, as if to tease her into a kiss. Hermione leaned longingly over, very close to giving into the temptation. At the last moment, the bushy haired girl pulled back and she was the one to turn away this time. And after a moment she turned back to Blaise, her eyes full of a nearly regrettable fire.

It won't work!

I look before I leap,

I love marches and discipline.

I make lists in my sleep, baby.

"I am a straightforward girl, Blaise, you know this. I am organized, I am careful, and I KNOW that I don't always have a lot of fun, but I love you, Blaise, with all my heart, and it just hurts so much to see you prance around like you do. If I'm to take you for who you are, you'd have to also accept me as I am!"

What's my sin?

Never quit, I follow through.

I hate men but I love you.

What to do with my impromptu baby?

So be wise, 'cause this girl satisfies.

You gotta prize, but don't compromise.

You're one lucky baby.

"You know, so many people, boys and girls, would give three fingers to be with me, Hermione Granger, and you're giving me away because you can't stand that not everything you know is under your control."

Take me for what I am.

A control freak.

Who I was meant to be!

A snob, yet ever attentive

And if you give a damn,

Take me baby or leave me.

That's it,

The straw that breaks my back.

Hermione seethed at her recent lover and she threw her hair back from her face.

"I am many things, but I never claimed to be perfect. I know exactly how I don't have everything under control, okay? And, it's not as if you're perfect, either. You've done so many hurtful things to me, and you just don't seem to notice, or else you just don't care."

I quit

Unless you take it back.

Women,

What is it about them?

Can't live with them or without them!

Take me for what I am,

Momentarily, the girls met each others eyes with almost a pleading sense in them, maybe it was their way of saying that they were willing to give one last chance. Would they take it? Or will pride ruin everything as it has done before?

Who I was meant to be.

And if you give a damn,

Take me baby or...

Take me baby,

Take me or l-l-l-l-eave me!
Take me baby

or leave me.

Turning to the girl, Blaise studied her carefully. Blaise supposed that she knew that they never could work out. Their types just didn't work out, they clashed too much. Love doesn't always prevail, no matter what some people say. Hermione and Blaise caught each other's eyes, and both girls felt their hearts break. Not wanting to admit their pain, however, they turned defiantly to each other.

Like lightning, their eyes met, never wanting to admit their wrongs, never wanting to stop the love, but knowing that it soon must come to an end.

Guess I'm leaving, I'm gone!
