Now that she’s back in the atmosphere,

With Drops of Jupiter in her hair.

She acts like summer and walks like rain.

Reminds me that there’s time to change.

Since the return of her stay on the moon,

She listens like spring and talks like June.

            “Harry Potter!”

Harry leapt out of the chair where he’d been dozing in front of the fire. Ginny giggled as he looked groggily around to see who’d called his name.

“Very funny, Ginny,” Harry grumbled, brushing the hair from his eyes. He looked over to where Ginny stood and couldn’t help smiling. Her mane of fire surrounded her friendly face with its soft brown eyes. At the moment, Ginny had a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle her laughter. Harry rolled his eyes and trotted to her side.

“Long time, no see, Ginny. Where’ve you been?” he asked her.

“Oh, just…” She stopped. Harry’s sparkling green eyes took captive of her own. Ginny had never seen such bright eyes. She’d never bothered to notice just how beautiful they were. Ginny had gotten over her star-struck love after her 4th year. Now she was in her 6th year, Harry’s last year. She thought of how terrible and lonely it would be without Harry around to talk to by the lake, in the Common Room, or in the Great Hall.

Suddenly, Ginny felt great tears welling up in her eyes. Life without Harry was unspeakable. She had never thought of how it would be after he left. As the tears spilled down her cheeks, Ginny sobbed her silent woes to no one.

Tell me, did you sail across the sun?

Did you make it to the Milky Way to

See the lights all faded,

And that heaven is overrated.

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star,

One without a permanent scar,

And did you miss me while you were

Looking for yourself out there.

And then there came a sudden warmth that enveloped her trembling body. Harry’s strong arms wrapped themselves around Ginny, whispering words of calming in to her ear.

“Ginny, what’s wrong?” he asked worriedly.

“Harry…I realized something…something that was there all along,” Ginny answered, breaking away from Harry.

He raised an eyebrow and asked, “What?”

            “I-I love you.”

It took a minute for Harry to comprehend this statement. When he finally understood, he realized the same thing. Love had been there all along, and neither of them had realized it until now.

Now that she’s back from that soul vacation,

Tracing her way through the constellation.

She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo,

Reminds me that there’s room to grow.

Now that she’s back in the atmosphere,

I’m afraid she might think of me as

A plain ol’ Jane, told a story ‘bout a man who was

Too afraid to fly so he never did land.

“Ginny, Ginny. It’s okay. I think…I think I love you, too.” Harry smiled. Ginny looked up, her tear streaked face shining but a grin played on her lips. Harry leaned forward and kissed her lightly. Ginny smiled but pushed him away playfully.

“Not here, Harry. Do you want everyone to see?” she said, shaking her head.

“Alright, then, follow me,” Harry answered, leading her up the stairs to the 7th year dorms.

            “Harry, where are we going?”

“Shhh…In here. Come on now, hurry.”

Ginny dashed into the open door, followed quickly by Harry. He closed and sealed it with an Unbreakable Charm. When he turned around, he found Ginny already sitting on his bed.

Tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?

Did you finally get the chance to dance along

The light of day, and head back to the Milky Way?

And tell me, did Venus blow your mind?

Was it everything you wanted to find,

And did you miss me while you were,

Looking for yourself out there.

Harry walked over and sat down next to her. The next thing he knew, they were kissing, their tongues exploring each other’s mouths. When they finally came up for air, they smiled at each other.

“What if Ron comes in?” Ginny asked.

“He won’t. He’s got detention from Snape tonight,” Harry said, laughing a little. Ginny smiled, her warm eyes shouting love. Harry pulled her close, his hand intertwining in the curls of her hair. His other hand held hers, the calloused fingers surrounding her soft ones. His soft words rang in the silence.

            “I love you, Ginny.”

* * *

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken,

Your best friend always sticking up for you,

Even when I know you’re wrong.

Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance,

Five hour phone conversation.

The best soy latte that you ever had…and me.

            “Harry Potter!”

Harry leapt out of the chair where he’d been dozing in front of the fire. Ginny giggled as he looked groggily around to see who’d called his name.

“Hmmm…I guess it was only a dream,” he thought unhappily.

“Very funny, Ginny,” Harry grumbled, brushing the hair from his eyes. He looked over to where Ginny stood and couldn’t help smiling.

“Looks like dreams come true.”
