Death Scene

These days are the best days of the world. The Sun is no longer hidden from the clouds. Each night the full moon blesses us all with its beauty. These are the best times the world had ever seen. Peace has now reigned on all the Earth, both Muggles and the People of Magic lived in coalition. The great war now over, Lord Voldemort had been defeated. However, this is not a story showing the perfection of the world. No, this is a tribute, a tribute to the boy who made this all happen, a boy who fought for our freedom. This is a tribute to Harry Potter.

There was a forbidding silence when I walked into the ward. I walked with my friends by my side; Ron, Ginny, Fred, George and all the brave people who joined us in our coalition against Lord Voldemort and survived. Our coalition ‘Dumbledore’s Army’. As I walked side by side with my friends we were all silent. I could feel my silent tears roll down my cheeks as we walked past bed after bed. Ahead of us we could see the end of the ward, and there, gathered round a bed was all the surviving members of the ‘Order of the Phoenix’. Through my teary eyes I could see Lupin, Mrs. Weasley, Mr. Weasley. Tonks and Professor McGonagall. We lost many during that fateful night; Neville died saving Ginny, Moody died duelling with Voldemort and Professor Dumbledore sacrificed his own life so Voldemort could be killed. There were so many others that also died; all died because of one creature called Lord Voldemort. I wish that this all had never had happened, however through all this experience we have learnt the true meaning of love, friendship and loyalty. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t shed a tear. There is however one more death that was yet to come to pass. I can remember his face clear as day as he lay still on that bed. This death was the death of Harry Potter.

We all were standing round his hospital bed, staring into his face. He was still alive, but was only being kept alive by a life-support spell. He would never reawaken, we were all here today for one purpose. We were there to disable the life-support spell and let his soul rest in peace. I remember seeing his face, his bottle green eyes and his smile, his face which was now white and lifeless. The end of the war had caused much celebration, but it had also caused much sorrow. I can still remember all those bodies lying upon the battlefield, all that blood… After Voldemort was destroyed by Harry’s own wand I ran towards him with all the energy I possessed. I remember seeing him, lying on the floor with blood dripping slowly down his forehead. When I reached him I held him in my arms.

He slowly opened his eyes and whispered to me, "H-H-Herm-io-ne…I love you, than…thankyou for being there for me. T-T-Tell Ron, he has been the g-g-greatest friend in the world. I will m-m-miss…miss you…’

His body then fell limp and I could see the life disappearing from his beautiful eyes. I bent over towards his ear and said, ‘I love you too Harry’.

I held him in my arms for hours after, until the remainder of the ‘Order of the Phoenix’ eventually found us. I didn’t want to believe he was dead, I would come to the Ward day after day, hoping that he would re-awaken. The doctors told me that he was still alive, but could never regain consciousness. Here we were, all together again, gathered round his bed. We were there to end Harry’s life, to set his soul free. As we gathered round his bed all of the Order bowed their heads and departed the Ward with tears rolling down their cheeks. Professor McGonagall explained that in order for his spirit to be free, it should be his friends who disabled the spell. A doctor came over to us and whispered, ‘To do this, all of you have to cast the spell ‘libere su alma’, this will de-activate the life support spell.’

The doctor then bowed his head and left the ward. We all formed a circle around his bed, all in deep silence. Ginny was the first to walk into the circle. She walked to Harry, held his hand and whispered, ‘You have always been the greatest person in our lives, through the good and the bad you have been there for us. You saved our lives many times, now it’s our turn to return the favour, we shall free your soul.’

Ginny released his hand, leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. Ginny went back into the circle. Now Cho stepped forward and held Harry’s hand whilst she whispered, ‘You were the saviour of my life, you fought side-by-side next to all of us including the boy I loved, Cedric. You helped us all to perfect our spells so we could fight and destroy Lord Voldemorts army. We shall miss you.’ She lowered his hand and placed it back by his side, she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek then stepped back into the circle.

Fred and George now stepped forward and stood next to harry, in unison they whispered, ‘You were the one who made our dreams possible. We helped to provide laughter and happiness to the world. This is all thanks to you. However no number of joke shops we open can possibly surpass the happiness you made the whole world feel. You rid the world of evil, without you we wouldn’t of learnt the true meaning of friendship.’ The twins stepped back into the circle.

One by one we saw the friends who fought along harry say their last words to him, until it was our turn. Ron and me stood either side of his bed holding his hands. Ron went first and said, ‘Harry, you have been the greatest friend to me. You have always been there for me and no matter what happened we always managed to remain the best of friends. Harry you are the Hero of this great story which will be told for all eternity. Harry I love you as a brother and as a friend. We will meet again sometime.’ Ron got on his knees and embraced Harry like a brother.

It was now my turn. I got on my knees and leaned towards his face and kissed him on the lips. I then stood up with the tears rolling down my face.

I looked at all the members and said, ‘Harry was there for each and every one of us. He fought for our freedom, the freedom of the world. He sacrificed his life to save us all; his legend shall live for all eternity. We can never forget all he’d done for us.’ I then turned to Harry and said, ‘Harry I will always love you. You were there for me when I needed you most, you were a friend to me, the greatest friend. One day we shall be together again, but for now I bestow the greatest gift I can give you. We shall release your soul so you can live for all eternity. Harry, you changed our world and gave us the gift of happiness and friendship. We shall miss you, until we meet again.’ I bent over and kissed him again on the lips with my tears dripping onto his peaceful face.

Ron and I stood back in the circle holding hands. We all nodded at each other then raised our wands. In every face I could see the affect Harry had on these people’s lives. We all said in unison, ‘libere su alma’. A great light of colours I can’t even describe flew out of our wands and hit Harry in unison. A great golden light emitted from his body and at this very moment a rainbow formed over the world, a voice echoed around the room saying, ‘I will always be there for you when you need me’. We had lost the most beautiful creation of the world but we all just smiled with tears coming from our eyes. Harry was free.

This was not a story but a tribute. A tribute to our friend Harry Potter.
