- Author's Note:
- I dedicate this story to Adriana Scott. She taught me that I could write a story as well as draw, even if I can draw better. She also showed me a drawing of Johnny Depp who I don't think is hott, but the pic was very good.
Almost a Fairy Tale
Hermione told Ron and Harry at the Burrow that she was going to take a walk. This was very surprising for Ron to hear because no one takes walks around the Burrow. There was obviously nothing to see besides a forest. In Ron's opinion it was a very... creepy forest.
But what Hermione had not told Ron and Harry was that she was meeting someone just beyond the path through the forest. She was meeting someone named Viktor Krum. As she walked through the forest she thought about what to say.
I plan to break up with him, but I don't intend to bring him all the way from Bulgaria to break his heart. So I'll just tell him that he isn't my type and that I don't know how to explain my self. There. That will have to work. Oh god, I'm so nervous.
So Hermione walked through the forest path to the Burrow and saw that he was waiting for her. Ok, Hermione, you can do this. You can dump a famous Quidditch player. "Viktor I wanted you to come here because I wanted to tell you something. I can't be with you. You're... you're not my type. I can't explain how I feel, you just have to understand. I'm really sorry. And then she left, leaving him a single tear in his eyes.
I love Hermione but I'm going to have to move on, Viktor thought, there are many girls out there that are dying to be with me.
But none like Hermione answered his conscience, which Viktor shook away bitterly.
So the famous Viktor Krum watched her fade away into the distance. Each step she took, she was closer to being out of his life.
Hermione, lost in thought, continued walking back to the Burrow. She had dumped him for other reasons than what she had just told him. She did not like to leave people brokenhearted because she had dumped him for someone. A certain someone named Ron Weasley.
Hermione loved Ron since their fourth year as schoolmates in Hogwarts. Even so, she didn't believe that he loved her too. After all she had snapped at him and was snobbish to him many times. She could only remember too well the fight in the common room with Ron about Viktor. Ron was so... so angry. But why was he angry. Was it jealousy?
Hermione was so submerged in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the dark shadows that were following her through the forest. She could see the Burrow as she walked towards it, nearing the end of the forest path. She was wondering how she was going to tell Ron that she had broke up with Viktor for him.
I can't possibly tell Ron that I dumped Viktor for him. That just wouldn't work. I'll just tell him that I dumped Viktor and see what his predictable reaction is.
She sighed heavily and continued towards the Burrow. Suddenly an explosion of red light erupted from the dense woods and struck Hermione painfully in her stomach. The last thing she saw was a shadow... no not a shadow, a man step out of the forest. He was a man with chalk-white skin and a snakelike skin. He had red slits for eyes. He was Lord Voldemort. Hermoine gasped as everything went black.
Ron sat thinking in his bedroom, gazing absentmindedly at the posters of his favorite Quidditch team, the Chudley Cannons. He was thinking about Hermione.
Why did she have to go off with some show off git like Krum? I don't see anything in him. Nothing at all! It's going to be my sixth year at Hogwarts and I've had a crush on her since our second year. I actually loved her and I still do, but I don't get to go out with her. He's only liked her for a few weeks and he automatically gets to go out with her. It's not fair. Nothing is fair in my life.
At that very moment an owl landed on his windowsill. It said "To Harry Potter" on the front, but as curious as Ron is, it almost seems natural that he take a look. What he read was very shocking-
I have your curly-haired friend captive, Potter. If you want her the Mudblood come and claim her. I will be waiting in the cave behind the boulder.
~ Lord Voldemort
Oh my gosh, I have to save her! I'm not going to wait for Harry. This is something I'm for once going to do myself. Hermione means everything to me, whether she loves me back or not.
So he set off at once, running through the forest, calling Hermione's name. He soon came to a boulder.
"Looking for Hermione?", said a quiet voice.
Ron whirled around. The voice seemed very familiar.
Standing behind him was none other than Viktor Krum. He had a odd, smug look on his face.
"Yes I am. She's been taken by Lord Voldemort and she's in danger." Ron said this all very quickly, not wanting to delay.
"Well, in that case, I'm not going to let you pass."
"Are you out of your mind, you brainless git? You are going out with her!"
"I am going to fight you."
How can I duel with a 20-year-old wizard and still have time to save Hermione? This is not going to work.
So, Ron, thinking of something he could do to fight him without magic, agreed to fight Krum. He took a rock and threw it at Krum's wand hand, just as he cried "Stupefy!" causing the wand to backfire and knock him out with his own stunning spell. It reminded Ron of something that had happened in his second year, down in the Chamber of Secrets...
Ron did not waste any time and stole through a narrow tunnel at the back of the boulder, just big enough for a man to slide through on his belly.
Hermione awoke, tied to a big rock, as sore as though she had fallen hard on concrete. She looked around finding that she was in a dark cave with only one entrance, a small tunnel. A cloaked figure stood at the other end of the cave. A high, cold voice issued from the horrifying face.
"Ah, Potter's filthy Mudblood friend. He's sure to try to save you. I placed The Imperious Curse on your friend Viktor Krum. If I am lucky, Krum will kill Potter, and then I will just kill you and Krum together. Touching... isn't it?"
Oh my god! Viktor! They will both be killed and it's my entire fault. Oh, only if I didn't invite Krum and leave the Burrow, they would both be safe! YOU STUPID LITTLE GIRL!
However, Hermione was not going to give in that easily. Losing all sense of fear, she spat back, "Harry is not stupid enough to follow me. You are using me as bait. Harry is even smart enough to know that you too have a Muggle parent!"
"SILENCE, FOOL OF A GIRL! I will not be spoken to like that from a weakling like you!"
"You will never silence me. Never."
"Crucio!"
A terrible pain. It was far from anything she had ever imagined. I am on fire! My bones are being pulled and twisted from their sockets. Help me... let me just... die.
The excruciating pain let out. As she gasped for breath, she heard someone call for Lord Voldemort. He was finally gone.
Suddenly she heard urgent footsteps clambering from the tunnel.
"Hermione!"
She knew it was Ron, but she could only say one word in response, due to the weakness that the Cruciatus Curse had caused her.
"Ron."
He cut the bonds that held her to the stone, and she collapsed on the cold, stone floor. He then helped her stand.
"We don't have much time", she said, "Viktor was under the Imperious Curse. If you came in here a second earlier, you would have run into Lord Voldemort."
"Hermione... don't tell Harry anything about this. He was the one who was supposed to come here and save you."
And so they ran to the tunnel and crawled out of the cave, together.
A Few Months Later in
Hogwarts
Hermione looks beautiful, thought Ron, if I didn't save her from Voldemort, we might have not been able to go to the ball together.
Hermione, wearing an elegant gown of lilac and blue, came up to Ron and asked awkwardly, "Erm...do you want to dance?"
"I'd love to", he said with a sexy smile, quite surprised and barely believing his luck.
He took her hand and led her to the dance floor. They danced for hours, Ron dipping her gracefully, until he asked her if she wanted to go for a walk on the Hogwarts grounds.
They walked and laughed together for a long time, and finally Hermione, drawing a tense breath, stopped walking and looked him in the eyes.
"There is something I've been meaning to tell you for years... I love you."
"I love you too, Hermione"
And then he kissed her, laying his soft lips on hers.
Fred and George, who had sneaked into the grounds using some of the Hogsmeade secret tunnels, were watching, grinning, from behind a bush.
"Aww, our little baby brother has finally found love."
