Chapter Two: No One Will Know

With a screeching clamor the Hogwarts Express came to a halt. Completely oblivious to this detail Marietta and Melanie kept chattering away. Only when Lily tapped them on the shoulders after trying to tell them it had stopped had they noticed.

"Oh my gawd. Sorry Lily! We just got so carried away with our conversation! We were talking about the...," Melanie said as she launched into a full conversation with only herself really listening.

Tentatively the girls gathered their trunks and made their way out of the Head Girl compartment and to the horseless carriages outside. They were the last ones to get off the train which they certainly did not like at all for all the horseless carriages were all full. Yet Lily noticed that they were not horseless at all.

"Thestrals," she mumbled quietly to herself.

"What?" Melanie asked.

"Nothing!" she said in a squeaky high pitched voice.

"Gawd dammit! We have to share a carriage with those bloody Marauders!" Marietta whispered softly.

The three smirked as they stepped into the horseless carriages that were not horseless.

"Look who came to visit us boys." Sirius smirked as they entered the carriage.

"Buzz off Sirius we're not in the mood for your pestering," Melanie warned.

"Touchy touchy I'm only trying to be friendly," he retorted, smirking.

"Just ignore them Mel, they're not worth it," Marietta whispered.

"What did my little Blackie have something to say? Please share with us," Sirius said teasingly.

"Not on the likes of you Black," Marietta alleged, recovering from Sirius's remark.

"Ouch Padfoot that really must of hurt," James said, grinning widely.

"You don't know how much," he retorted. The three girls rolled their eyes when the boys weren't looking.

About halfway through the trip to Hogwarts the Marauders stood up.

"I'm afraid we must leave you three," Sirius spoke.

Lily's head snapped from the window of the carriage to the marauders.

"Yes I'm afraid my dear Lily flower we must part for a little while but I will be back with you soon," James consoled.

Lily almost threw up. Controlling her temper she sent James a death glare. If looks could kill, he'd be dead.

"And where do you think you're going?" Melanie asked, yet again supplying the questions for the three.

"To outer space, no to the Ministry of Magic, no to see the Weird Sisters..." Sirius replied sarcastically.

"Remus, where are you four going?" Melanie asked sweetly.

Remus took a deep breath, sighed, and then said plainly, "It's our seventh year, our last year at Hogwarts. Every year we do a Back to School Prank. This is our last Back to School Prank ever. It's got to be something spectacular, so we are remembered."

Lily's angered eyes traveled back to James and Sirius and then to Peter who was about to jump off the carriage. Lily instantly took her wand out of her pocket, ready to curse Peter if he jumped off.

"Whoa Wormtail. Do you honestly want Lily to blow you to bits? She probably couldn't harm me but you wormy you wouldn't make it out alive," James supposed.

"Yeah right, Potter. Lily could you turn upside out and inside in and you wouldn't even get a spell in!" Marietta scoffed forgetting her usual quietness.

"You want to bet against that?" Sirius questioned pulling up to James defense.

"You bet she does!" Melanie said before Marietta could protest.

Lily rather annoyed cast a simple hearing spell so that only Melanie and Marietta could hear her. James raised his wand and tapped his ear; he now accomplished the ability to hear what she was saying.

"Ugh...," she whispered as she put up a very complex protecting spell over it that she was sure James did not know, "Oh honestly you two, why on earth are you setting me up against James in a duel? I'm Head Girl!"

"Sorry Lily!" Marietta apologized.

Melanie did not give in so easily, however. "Lily, you could certainly beat him! He's nothing against you in charms..."

"And he and Black are using a lip reading charm!" Marietta added quickly.

"Remus must have given it to them," Lily responded quietly trying hard to not move her lips as she did so. Melanie sent Remus an unfriendly glare which he returned guiltily with a slight blush.

"Marietta, palmacan fatrace charm! You get Black, I'll get Potter," Lily whispered still trying hard to not move her lips, "Five, four, three, two, And ONE!"

Instantly the two boy's mouths were stitched together. Forgetting the lip reading charm they tried to desperately unclamp their mouths. Carefully Melanie levitated them out the carriage and dropped them on to the grass. Remus and Peter followed them not ten seconds after.

"Nice work Mel," Marietta complimented.

"Yeah, you're doing better at your charms," Lily attributed.

"Thanks but they deserved it," Melanie responded fiercely.

All of a sudden the carriage trembled and turned a violent shade of pink. White flowers bloomed and when they opened up they sang, "We love the Marauders, the Marauders, the Marauders, we love the Marauders may Snape be brewed with toads!"

Marietta and Melanie groaned.

"Great the one time we really retaliate and they fight back!" Melanie responded despairingly.

"Don't worry you guys. Their tricks are no match for what I've got planned for tomorrow. Our trick will blow their socks off..." Lily responded coolly.

"And their robes away,' Melanie giggled. Lily and Marietta rolled their eyes.

"Yeah but no one will even know we did it. And even if we told someone they wouldn't believe us, we're too perfect! How would that be retaliating?" Marietta asked smartly.

"That's the best part. Everyone will think the Marauders did it, no one will ever think we did it," Lily shot back.

"Oh I get it, they'll get detention!" Melanie realized.

"Great idea Lils," Marietta complimented.

"Thanks, and the best part is..." Lily lingered.

And together they said both depressed and with excitement in their voices, at the thought of outsmarting the Marauders and the whole school, "No one will know."
