Chapter 6

When Angelina woke the next morning, she opened her eyes groggily and blinked a couple of times, trying to focus them on the bobbing shape in front of her. Groaning loudly Angelina closed her eyes again as pain burst through her head. Where was she? Faintly she heard laughter from the foot of her bed. Opening her eyes she focused her eyes and groaned again when she saw who it was.

"Malfoy! What the hell are you doing here?" she hissed at him. Malfoy grinned at her and cocked his head to one side.

"I was just checking on you," he answered, pretending to be hurt. Angelina snorted and regretted it immediately as her head burst into pain again.

"You know, I am really surprised that you even dared to show your face here after you knocked me out," she spat at him. Draco looked taken back.

"Huh?" he asked dumbly. Angelina rolled her eyes at him.

"After. You. Knocked. Me. Out," she repeated slowly as if talking to a seriously thick person. Draco glared at her.

"I didn't knock you out," he snapped at her. Angelina raised an eyebrow.

"And who did? The Tooth Fairy?" she asked sarcastically.

"The what?" Draco asked, not knowing anything about muggle things. Angelina waved a hand dismissively.

"Anyways, Pansy knocked you out," Draco explained. Angelina snorted.

"Yeah right, why don't you take responsibility for your actions Malfoy. What are you afraid of?" she scorned. Draco frowned at her.

"I didn't do it," he said in finality.

"I'm not that stupid," she told him. "Why don't you just admit it?" Draco threw up his hands in frustration.

"I didn't do it," he repeated. Angelina clearly didn't believe him.

"Get out of my sight Malfoy. I don't want to talk or see you again," she hissed at him. Draco glared at her one last time before turning and leaving.

Suddenly a thought struck Angelina.

"Wait Malfoy! What about my book?" she asked, worried now. Draco turned back to her and smirked.

"Should've thought about that before," he mocked before leaving. Angelina threw a pillow at his retreating back and groaned.

What have I done? She thought as she sank back into the pillows and let out a small cry of frustration.

At noon Angelina left the hospital wing and went to her next lesson - history. Entering the classroom she found that she was a minute late. As she opened the door everybody turned towards her. She avoided their looks and went in and sat down. She also noticed that Ron and Hermione were taking turns making puppy dog eyes at each other when they thought that they weren't looking. Angelina grinned evilly. Maybe she would help them on their way to love. Grinning to herself Angelina leaned over to Harry and whispered something in his ear.

"Do you think that maybe we should, umm, help Ron and Hermione realise how they feel about each other?" Angelina asked evilly. Harry laughed softly and nodded.

"Why not. I have been dropping hints at them for so long, but either their too thick to realise it or they pretend not to," Harry whispered back.

"You'd think that someone smart like Hermione could pick up hints," Angelina said, rolling her eyes. Harry grinned and nodded.

"By the way, have you got your book back?" he asked. Angelina froze. She had forgotten all about it.

"No, not exactly," she replied. Harry raised an eyebrow.

"Not exactly?" he asked. Angelina shrugged.

"Can I borrow your invisibility cloak tonight? I promise I'll give it back to you tomorrow morning. Promise," Angelina said, forming a plan in her head. Harry hesitated.

"Well, I suppose if it is only for one night," he said, giving in. Angelina smiled and thanked him profusely.

***

That night Angelina followed Draco out of the library ten minutes before curfew. Hidden under the invisibility cloak, Angelina shadowed Draco as he made his way to the Slytherin common room.

"Curses," Draco muttered as the one of the dungeon walls opened to show the Slytherin common room. Angelina went in before the door closed and followed Draco into his room.

I suppose because he's a prefect he gets his own room Angelina thought as she looked around the common room. It was typically Slytherin, which meant of course, green, silver and the occasional black.

Easing into Draco's room before the door closed, Angelina's heart thumped in her chest as she waited for Draco to do something, anything so she could take off the cloak and search his room for her book. Picking a few things from his wardrobe Draco left the room undoubtedly to go and have a shower. Ripping the cloak off Angelina pushed it under the desk as she searched it frantically.

Opening drawer after drawer, Angelina found no traces of the book. Checking her watch Angelina swore when she realised she had been in the room for almost twenty minutes. The she spotted it. The book was lying on the bed side table next to Draco's bed. It was closed, but she could see the top of a bookmark poking from the middle of it. Before she reached the book the door started opening. Throwing herself under the bed just in time Angelina heard Draco come in and walk around the room. She risked a peek and found Draco pulling on his pyjamas. Ducking back under the bed Angelina prayed that he would fall asleep so she could go, grab her book and leave. But no such luck. Draco sat on the bed and started reading the book. Angelina waited and waited.

"Draco, how come you didn't give me my thank you kiss?" Pansy asked as the door opened. Angelina heard Draco sigh and close the book.

"What kiss?" he asked irritably. Angelina looked under the hangings and found Pansy pouting.

"Thank you for knocking out that irritating Nadford girl, even though I must admit, you didn't seem too happy of it," she added with a smirk. Draco sighed again.

"I didn't want her knocked out. Now she thinks I did it," he explained. Pansy snorted.

"Why would you care what she thinks anyway?" she asked. Draco bristled.

"I don't," he answered. Pansy stood in the doorway, hands on hips and glaring at him. Angelina felt Draco get off the bed, walk over and kiss Pansy lightly on the mouth. Angelina had to fight to keep herself from laughing. Draco was wearing bright green pyjamas that stood out on his pale skin. It was a terrible contrast and almost hurt to look at since the pyjamas were so bright. Angelina bit the inside of her cheek as tears of laughter spilled down her face.

"That's more like it," Pansy said as she walked out and closed the door behind her. Draco glared at the spot for a moment before climbing back on to the bed to continue reading.

Angelina fell asleep an hour later unintentionally.

Hermione was worried. Where was Angelina? She hadn't seen her since after dinner. Pacing the room Hermione went to ask Harry and Ron.

"Have you guys seen Angelina?" she asked them. They shook their heads.

"She borrowed my cloak, said something about getting her book back," Harry replied distractedly. Hermione nodded and went to her dorm. The she stopped dead in her tracks. Angelina's book was with Draco.

"OW! Get off my hand!" Angelina shouted as she was jerked awake by an intense pain in her hand at three o'clock in the morning. Draco jumped back in surprise. Angelina scrambled out from under the bed and rubbed her hand tenderly as she glared at Draco who just stared back.

"What were you doing under my bed?" he asked, recovering. Angelina glared at him.

"I was getting my book back," she spat out, testing her hand. Draco stared at her in disbelief.

"And the thought of asking me never occurred to you?" he suggested.

"I did," Angelina replied sourly. Her hand was throbbing, she had spent most of the night cramped under Draco's bed and she was in no mood to be polite.

"Yes and you're sure that you are not simply here because you like every other girl in this school have fallen for my charm, good looks and wit?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. Angelina looked at him sceptically and snorted.

"You wish," she said. Draco sniffed.

"I came here to get my book back and that is what I am going to do whether you like it or not," Angelina stated firmly.

"Nobody's stopping you," he said. Angelina gave him a suspicious glare as she grabbed her book and went over to the desk. Grabbing the invisibility cloak out from under it before Draco could see what it was she stuffed it under robes.

"What was that?" Draco asked her.

"What was what?" Angelina replied innocently. Draco narrowed his eyes, but waved his hand dismissively. Angelina walked past him, but stopped.

"Er, I heard what Parkinson said yesterday night and I want to say I'm sorry for blaming you," Angelina apologised as she opened the door.

"You're apologising to me?" Draco said disbelievingly. Angelina glared at him as she slipped out silently.

A second later her head popped back in.

"By the way, ditch the pyjamas," she advised with an impish grin as she disappeared again.

When Angelina entered the Gryffindor common room she was surprised to see a certain brown haired girl sitting in an armchair waiting, it seemed, for her.

"Er, Hermione what are you doing up?" she asked hesitantly as she slid into a chair. Her back was sore from sleeping on the ground under Draco's bed for most of the night. Hermione looked at her with a level gaze.

"Where were you?" she asked back, ignoring Angelina's previous question.

"I, well, you see," Angelina stuttered, wondering if she should tell Hermione. The she saw the look on her face. Maybe lying to her wasn't such a good idea. "Well, I went to get my book."

"From Malfoy," Hermione finished. Angelina was surprised, but nodded.

"And you left after dinner and return six hours later. Just how long do you need to get a bloody book?" Hermione asked, getting angry.

"Well, I would've been back way earlier if I hadn't fallen asleep," Angelina explained, then realised how it sounded and could be interpreted as a look of understanding came over Hermione's face.

"No, no, no. Hermione it is not like that," Angelina exclaimed, eyes wide. Hermione gave a cynical look.

"Then what happened?" she asked. Angelina sighed, but told her. When she finished Hermione was still wearing the sceptical look.

"Just answer one question," Hermione said slowly as Angelina nodded. "Did you have sex with Malfoy?"

Angelina was speechless. She just stared at Hermione.

Sex, me and Malfoy? She has got to be joking!!!

"No, no, no! Of course not. Me and Malfoy?!? Ew, Hermione!! No way!!! Never in hell would I have sex with Malfoy! I'm only thirteen!!!" Angelina exploded, shooting to her feet, eyes wide as saucers and a look of shock evident on her face. Hermione clucked her tongue and sighed, looking like she was fighting the urge to roll her eyes.

"Angelina, you left at seven and came back at three o'clock the next morning. Not to mention that your hair is all mussed up as if you have been doing something. Besides you were caught kissing Malfoy the other day, if you like him, just say so," Hermione laid all the facts out. Angelina stared at her in disbelief.

"No Hermione, it definitely was not like that. There is nothing between me and Malfoy. Nothing at all," she pleaded. Hermione clearly did not believe her, but was too tired to argue.

"We'll talk about it tomorrow," she promised as they drifted upstairs, getting as much sleep as they can before the next day.

***

The next morning Hermione had devised a way to find out the truth. At breakfast, Hermione slid into a seat next to Angelina and started to butter a piece of toast.

"I've been thinking about last night," Hermione said as she bit her toast. "And I think I would be totally convinced if I got the answer from one person."

"Who?" Angelina asked cautiously. Hermione gave her a pointed looked before answering.

"Malfoy himself," she answered. Angelina was horrified.

"No, you can't ask him," she argued.

"Why? If you have nothing to hide than you why should you care about asking him?" Hermione asked. Angelina groaned.

"But, but. Oh forget it. Ask him, besides he'll tell you the same thing I did," Angelina concluded, more to convince herself than Hermione.

***

It looked like luck was on Hermione's side that day. As Angelina and Hermione went to get some scrolls Angelina needed for the Arithmacy project from the room, they found that Draco was working steadily and silently. Angelina mentally groaned and wanted to sag against the wall, but didn't as Hermione cleared her throat loudly. Draco looked up and smirked at her.

"What do you want mudblood?" he asked nastily. Hermione ignored his comment as she glanced at Angelina.

"I was wondering if you could answer a question that has been bothering me," she began as she watched Angelina glare back at her. Draco didn't say anything, but saw that Angelina was not happy.

"Well, all I want to know is that yesterday night when Angelina was in your room did you two, er, do anything?" Hermione asked hesitantly. Draco was surprised.

"Define anything," he sneered.

"Sex, did you and Angelina have sex yesterday?" Hermione stated bluntly. Angelina groaned as she heard her. Draco was now highly amused. He looked at Angelina who was making motions with her hands that clearly and frantically said 'no', but he was taking no notice.

"Of course, what did you think we were doing yesterday?" he asked with a raised eyebrow as if saying it was sooooo obvious. Hermione gave Angelina a triumphant look as she groaned. Draco smirked again and stood up, moving towards Angelina. He put an arm around her shoulders and leaned down to her ears.

"Oh dear..." he whispered as Angelina glared up at him. Rasing her arm she slapped him soundly and hard across his cheek. Even Draco was surprised by this. No one had ever slapped him before.

Without warning she leapt for Draco and knocked him over as she attempted to strangle him. Literally. Hermione gave a small cry of astonishment as she rushed forward to pull Angelina off Draco.

"Angelina," Hermione panted with the effort. "Get off him. Remember you will technically be responsible for his death of you kill him and probably spend the rest of your days in Azkaban."

Angelina froze. Hermione was right, she always was. Angelina threw one last dirty look at Draco before she reluctantly got off him and stood up panting for breath. Hermione kept one hand on her shoulder, ready to restrain her if needed. Angelina angrily shook it off.

"Malfoy, I swear I will get you for this. And I thought you were different!" Angelina spat at him before stalking out of the room. Draco stared after her as Hermione gave him a look and left after her friend.

***

Angelina ran blindly through the castle, tears threatening to spill over at any second. She crashed solidly into a figure and went tumbling on to the ground, cursing loudly. Wiping the few tears that had fallen down her cheeks Angelina raised her head and looked straight into the deepest blues eyes she had ever seen. Finding her mouth had stopped functioning Angelina gaped at this stranger. He smiled down at her, his eyes dancing with mischief.

"Sorry 'bout that, I guess I wasn't looking at where I was going," he apologised as he reached down and helped her up. Angelina gingerly took his hand and smiled back nervously.

"Oh, no problem. It was my fault anyway," she stuttered as she dusted herself off. Raising her head she saw that the stranger was looking at her. She looked back and was about to say something when Hermione came up and grabbed her arm.

"Oh Angelina, I was wondering where you went. You had me so worried after that scene with Malfoy I was sure you'd go and jump off a cliff or something," Hermione blabbed as Angelina tried to get her to shut up. The boy on the other hand was looking amused. Angelina gave Hermione an angry glare and Hermione finally noticed the other boy standing there. She looked between Angelina and him, a look of understanding coming over her face.

"Oh," she muttered softly before Angelina rolled her eyes and checked her watch. She needed to get some homework done.

"Well, er sorry for knocking you down like that," Angelina apologised awkwardly as she shuffled from foot to foot. The boy seemed nervous as well.

"Think nothing of it. By the way, my name's Dominic. Dominic Vanhousan," he introduced, offering a hand. Angelina smiled and shook it.

"Angelina Nadford," she replied. Dominic nodded and Angelina bid him a goodbye.

"See ya around," she said before disappearing from his view dragging Hermione along with her.

***

Did she do the right thing? He had made it sound so good and the decision so simple. But now, now she was having doubts. He said it would bring attention from him, but it hadn't. He was still ignoring her as always and, well and he seemed too preoccupied with that girl. She sighed; she really hoped that she was right and that nothing bad would come out of this.

***

Draco was shocked. More than shocked. Angelina, a mudblood had just slapped him and he had let her. Not to mention it was in front of her friend Granger or something.

I was only teasing, he thought irritably as he unconsciously rubbed his cheek. She didn't have to take it so hard. Or whack me so hard for that matter.

Draco sighed and looked at the half finished work. It could wait. Right now he needed some answers from his father and he wouldn't stop until he got them.

***

Angelina went into the Gryffindor common room. Ron was sitting there, doodling something on a scrap piece of parchment. Sneaking up behind him, she saw clearly that it was a picture, no matter how crude, of Hermione.

"You know, her hair isn't that bushy," Angelina commented disinterestedly as she watched with great amusement his reaction. Ron jumped about three feet in the air as he turned around and glared at Angelina.

"Don't do that," he snapped, scrunching up the parchment and looking around to see if Hermione was within ear shot. Fortunately for him she was helping Ginny with something. Angelina grinned evilly and followed his gaze.

"You know, I think she might feel the same way about you," she told him as Ron turned back to her.

"You think so?" he asked dreamily. Angelina laughed when she heard his tone of voice.

"I mean, er, I meant, you know, I'm just curious, not that I feel the same way about her, just I, er," Ron stammered as Angelina laughed.

"Oh, I'm sure that she feels the same way about you," she reassured him, after, that is, she had stopped laughing. Wiping away tears of laughter Angelina wished Ron luck as she went up to her dormitory and grabbed her books and things.

She'd plan her revenge on Draco some other day.
