Chapter Three ~ One Weird Dream and a Growing Suspicion

Tossing and turning in bed that night Angelina couldn't stop the flow of images that burst through her mind.

Two cloaked figures were standing side by side next to a long dead fire talking in soft yet angry voices.

"I can't believe I didn't kill him last time," the man on the right growled. Angelina shivered unconsciously in her sleep. It was Voldemort. The man on the left chuckled without humour.

"At least you were close enough to do something to him. I haven't been able to touch that brat since she was a few months old," he said angrily, banging a hand on the mantel piece. In the dim light, his sapphire ring shimmer brightly.

"Fear not we will get them," Voldemort hissed. "The Potter boy will not escape my wrath again." The man on the left smiled evilly, his white teeth flashing. Angelina tried to get a better look at his face, but it was no use. She wasn't there in person, more like she was peering through a glass and couldn't move forward.

"If I help you in capturing the Potter boy, then you must agree to trap her for me," The man with the sapphire ring said. Voldemort's face twisted into something that faintly resembled a smile.

"Deal," he said firmly, red eyes flashing with pure ecstasy at the thought of torturing Harry Potter.

"And how do you plan to do that?" the man on the left asked sarcastically. Voldemort's eyes flashed with anger before settling into its normal dull red colour again.

"I'll get Lucius's son to do it," Voldemort said triumphantly. The man on the left nodded once before leaving the room.

Angelina woke up, feeling tired and dizzy. Her mouth had an unpleasant taste in it and her head was throbbing. She was covered in a cold sweat and her watch told her it was only three in the morning.

Suddenly the dream she just had flooded back into her mind with full force and resulted in a very confused Angelina with a big headache.

Groaning softly, Angelina swung her legs off the bed and waited until her eyes had adjusted to the dark. If her dream was anything to go by, then Harry had better be covering his back if he wanted to live.

What do I do? Angelina thought as she gulped down water and soothed her parched throat. Was that just a nightmare, or was it really going to happen? Groaning again, Angelina sat on her bed and put her head in her hands. Why do these things happen to me?

Only when she fell into an uneasy slumber an hour later did she remember that Voldemort and his companion had also talked about a girl.

***

The next morning Angelina woke up feeling especially groggy. Climbing out of bed, she pulled on her clothes and school robes. Running a brush though her hair, Angelina didn't notice her red-rimmed eyes or the bags under eyes. All that was on her mind was the dream she had yesterday. Going down to breakfast with Hermione, Angelina made up her mind that she wouldn't tell Harry about her dream until she was sure that it wasn't just a nightmare. If it was true, then she needed to know who the girl that the other man kept on talking about was.

"Gee, you look great today Angelina," Ron greeted her as she slid into her seat next to him. Angelina glared at him as she poured cereal into her bowl.

"Thanks Ron," she said dryly.

"What's up?" Harry asked her. Angelina shrugged.

"Had a bad night yesterday, couldn't sleep," she explained in a tone of voice that clearly said don't push it. Harry took the hint and changed the topic.

"So who you think the new DADA professor is going to be? He wasn't there during dinner and isn't here now," Harry said. Hermione bristled at his arm.

"How can you be so sure that it's a male teacher?" she asked him, giving him her best glare. Harry seemed surprised at her question.

"Er, well all the professors we've had so far are males, so I assumed-" Harry began before Hermione cut him off.

"Yes, but that doesn't mean that it is going to be a male this year," Hermione cut in.

"Don't even try arguing with her when she's in one of her moods. You can wave a one hundred foot banner in her face and she'll ignore it,' Ron said as Harry started to open his mouth. Angelina grinned at him and quickly hid it when Hermione looked at her.

***

Angelina ran into the classroom and came to a sudden stop as everybody turned towards her. The professor was already there. He was a handsome brown haired, blue eyed thirty or something year old. He raised an eyebrow when she entered and smiled when she stopped running.

"You're late," he said in his quiet voice.

"I-took-a-wrong-turn-when-I-went-to-get-my-books," Angelina panted, her faced flushed from running around the school searching for the classroom.

"Alright, take a seat and make sure you are not late again," he said sternly as he stood up and walked towards the blackboard. Angelina slid into a seat next to Hermione and tried to ignore the snickers from the Slytherin fifth years.

The professor picked up a piece of chalk and his ring glittered in the sunlight. Angelina paled as she recognised it. It was a sapphire ring and was exactly the same as the one in her dream.

"Alright students, welcome to your first real DADA lesson. My name is Michael Opwell, but I suppose it is Professor Opwell to you. DADA is not a theory topic and rest assured that we will be plenty of practical activities and you will meet plenty of Dark Art creatures. But today we will start with a theory lesson. Please turn to page 288 and answer the questions on the curses and hexes that you will read about," the professor said as he wrote his name on the board and the requirements for their homework tonight which was to finish off what they don't get done now.

Through all this Angelina was just staring at the professor's ring and thinking about her dream.

"Hey Angelina, are you alright?" Hermione asked looking concerned. Angelina forced a smile on to her face as she was snapped out of her thoughts. She will share her thoughts with Hermione later when the professor wasn't here.

"Yea, of course I am. Just tired because of last night," she explained as she got out her book and started on her work.

She didn't realise that Draco had saw her expression when she saw the professor's ring.

***

After class Angelina stopped Hermione and pulled her to one side.

"Hermione, I don't trust the new DADA teacher. I had a dream yesterday that Voldemort was planning to kill Harry and he was going to get someone to do it for him and that person is the DADA teacher. I know because I remember that the person had a ring just like Opwell's," Angelina whispered fiercely, her eyes scanning the corridor for any nosy ears. Hermione looked at in surprise.

"Don't be stupid Angelina. A dream is just a dream and besides. There are probably tons of those rings around. You probably just imagined that you saw it," Hermione reasoned. Angelina shook her head stubbornly.

"No, I'm sure that it is him," Angelina said. Hermione sighed and looked at her uncertainly.

"Do you have proof? Besides, Dumbledore wouldn't hire some death eater as a teacher. You're probably over reacting. I have dreams sometimes about You-Know-Who planning to kill Harry, but they're just dreams right? Don't worry; I'm sure the ring is just a coincidence. Calm down okay?" Hermione asked as they entered the classroom for Transfiguration. Angelina wanted to scream and shout at Hermione at how can she be stupid and would she stop treating her like a kid that doesn't know anything. Instead, Angelina forced a cheerful and assured smile on to her face.

"Oh, you're probably right," she said. You want proof? Fine, I'll get your stupid proof and then we'll see who's right, Angelina thought as she got out her books she needed for the lesson.

***

That night, Angelina walked into the room that Professor Vector had organised for her and Draco. Sitting down at the table Angelina got out the scrolls she was looking at yesterday and started flicking through them. Ten minutes later she set them down with a thud. It was no use, she couldn't study that night. All she could think about was professor Opwell and his ring.

Damn him! Angelina thought as she searched her bag angrily for her Discman. Even though she lived in a magical family, she lived in a muggle street and had normal muggle things. Realising that she had left it in her trunk, Angelina threw her bag to the ground, thoroughly pissed.

"Aren't we angry today," Draco's dry voice commented from the doorway. Angelina raised her head and glared at him.

"I don't need this shit from you today Malfoy," she said threateningly. Her eyes were flashing with anger and frankly, she was tired of people teasing her and treating her like a child (which she was). Draco looked momentarily taken back before breaking into a sneer.

"What happened? Did Potter refuse to go out with you or something?" he continued as he sat down next to her. Angelina kept her temper, barely, and glared at him over her scroll.

Ignore him. He is nothing but a moron who gets his highlights of his days from pissing you off. You'll be doing him a favour by getting angry and screaming. Remember, you're cool, calm and collected. Do not let his idiotic and pathetic behaviour gets to you Angelina thought as she concentrated on reading. But it was pretty hard to ignore Draco when he was practically next to your ear, telling you how you were throwing yourself at Harry Potter.

"I can just see it now. You go up to Potter and ask him out. He very gently lets you know that he likes that mudblood Granger girl and you come tearing into this room, angry and hurt beyond belief-" Draco said before Angelina lost her temper.

"Just who the hell do you think you are?! You think you're so hot, but really you're just a rich stuck-up asshole who thinks he owns the world! If you actually bothered to open those eyes of yours instead of letting everybody do your shit then you will see that I don't like Harry that way! Why don't you do the world a favour and shut that filthy trap of yours up and stop taking out your anger out on other people. I don't know what's up your ass, but it must be something big and pointy to make you such a fucking dickhead! I actually pity you and your jealousy towards Harry! Read my lips, GET A LIFE!" Angelina shouted at the surprised Draco. She grabbed her bag off the ground and stalked towards the door.

"My father is powerful and you'll pay for that," Draco said calmly, his cheeks flushed from anger.

"Stop hiding behind your father. It's always, my father this or my father that. I am sick of hearing about your father!" Angelina exclaimed as she yanked open the door.

"I hope you know how big of a mistake you made, being enemies with me," Draco exclaimed as well, jumping to his feet.

"So bite me!" Angelina yelled as she closed the door behind with a bang.

Walking back to her dormitory Angelina was fuming.

Who the fuck did Malfoy think he is? My father this or my father that. I have never seen anyone so dependant on their father. Bastard! Angelina thought as she climbed through the portrait and went upstairs to get some peace and quiet.

***

Who does Nadford think she is? Strutting around as if she was the best and she's only thirteen! What a bitch! She's just jealous that I have such a powerful father! I'll make sure that my father can get her expelled! Draco thought with satisfaction as he turned over in his bed and slept. Until then I'll take as many point off Gryffindor from her as possible, after all, I am a prefect.

***

"Lucious I have a very important mission for your son." Voldemort hissed.

"Yes, my Lord, what might that be?" Lucious asked, becoming slightly curios even though it didn't show on his face.

"The Nadford girl I want you to get your son to trap her for me," Voldemort said, grinning evilly.

"Of course master, but what on earth for?" Lucious asked.

"You dare question me?" Voldemort hissed.

"No my Lord," Lucious said hastily.

"Good you will learn in good time my faithful servant." Voldemort cackled a blood-curdling cackle.

***

Gracefully eating his breakfast, Draco sat and watched as the usual flock of owls streamed in, surprisingly a letter was popped into his lap. Glancing at it, Draco saw that it was from his father. He quickly left the Great Hall and headed for the Slytherin common room.

On entering Draco tore open the letter and read it quickly. It said~

Meet me outside the Forbidden Forest, I have a task I wish for you to complete.

Was all it said. Scowling Draco grabbed his cloak and headed for the Forbidden Forest before class. Lucious stood there patiently waiting for his son.

When Draco arrived his father greeted him. "What do you want?" Draco asked hotly.

"My dear Draco, your manners are getting rusty. That is hardly the way to address your father. Anyway, The Dark Lord has a task for you. He wishes for you to get close to the Nadford girl and slowly lure her into a trap," Lucious said coldly. Draco scowled.

"Don't look at me like that, do as I say or the consequences will be dear," Lucious glared down at his son. He turned and left without another word.

Draco sighed. Get close to Nadford? He thought. He hated her, despised her. Sure she was pretty and stuff, but she was an annoying little prat who thinks she's so good and hates coffee. Oh well, he had to do it, no matter how much he hated his father.

Heading back into the castle Draco pondered over how he was going to do it. Though the answer was simple he could charm girls faster than lightning.

***

At the potions dungeon, Draco thought that he should take it slowly, as to not make her suspicious.

Draco sat down and took out his things. When Angelina entered he smiled his most charming smile.

"What are you smiling at?" Angelina asked, panicking thinking that something was wrong and Draco saw before she did.

"Oh, nothing just smiling," Draco replied.

"Oh, okay then," Angelina sighed a breath of relief.

Professor Snape entered the dungeon and began to lecture the class about wolfsbane and mugswort. The day continued and still Draco had no idea how he was to exactly approach his task.

Making his way to dinner he considered the possibilities, but each one sounded more stupid than the last. Draco gave up and decided to just go with the flow.

After dinner, Draco made his way to their study room, remembering that he had practically ordered Angelina to come and study.

Entering he saw that she was already there and absorbed in yet another file. "Hey," he said.

Angelina looked up, "Did you just say hey?"

"Yeah, so?" Draco asked.

"Nothing it's just that you never greet anyone like that. It's usually hey Mudblood or hey Nadford and done in a very malicious tone." Angelina replied, surprised that Malfoy was actually human.

"Whatever," was the only reply.

They two worked and worked without a break. Draco looked up to stretch his neck. He saw Angelina's brow furrowed in concentration as she worked twirling her quill between her fingers. "Hey, Angelina you want a refreshment or something I mean we have been working for a while," Draco said suddenly.

"Um..." Angelina thought did he just call me Angelina, or is it just me? "Um... No I should be fine, thanks anyway."

"Okay then if you're sure," Draco replied.

Leaving the room Draco headed for the kitchens, Maybe he should be more direct in 'getting close' to Nadford. Like just go up to her and kiss her or something. Draco pondered this.

Returning back to the library, Draco thought do I really have the guts to just go up to her and kiss her? I mean what if she runs away and tries to avoid me? That is technically not luring her in. Damn, why do I have to do this? Damn my father, damn Voldemort too. Entering the library Draco's mind was made up. He was going to do it.

Walking into the room Draco approached Angelina, grabbing her shoulders, swinging her around and............

Chickened out at the last minute. Angelina stared back at Draco surprised. "What the hell are you doing," she asked.

Draco hesitated, "I uh, wanted to say that I'm sorry about the other night."

"Are you serious? You are definitely not Malfoy. Where's Malfoy and what have you done with him?" Angelina asked stepping back.

"I am Draco," Draco replied annoyed that she didn't believe him.

"No you are not. For one you've been acting strangely and Malfoy does not apologize." Angelina said reasonably.

"Ten points off Gryffindor if you keep this nonsense up," Draco said hotly.

"Okay. You are Malfoy then," Angelina said. "I'll just take this file and well I'll just be leavin-" At that precise moment Professor Vector walked in.

"Hi Professor Vector," Angelina said enthusiastically, putting on her best fake smile.

"Going somewhere Miss Nadford?" Professor Vector asked, eyebrows raised.

"Uh, no, I was just stretching my legs," Angelina thought quickly.

"With a file in your hand," Vector asked suspiciously. Clearly she did not believe a single word Angelina had just said.

"Yes," Angelina replied as innocently as possible.

"Sit down Miss Nadford. Professor Vector sat down as well checking on what they had done already. Taking Angelina's seat deliberately, Vector forced Angelina innocently to sit right next to Malfoy. Angelina sat down and immediately began to work.

Suddenly Professor Vector asked, "How is it working together."

"It's good," said Draco, while at the same time Angelina had said it sucked.

"What was that?" Vector asked.

Angelina and Draco looked at each other. "It's great," Angelina, said, "It sucks," Draco said at the same time.

"Would you care to repeat that?" Professor Vector asked, with an eyebrow raised.

Draco opened his mouth to speak, when Angelina kicked him. "OW!" he shouted. Angelina smiled sweetly and simply said, "It's good." Draco glared at her.

"Is there something wrong Mr Malfoy?" Vector asked.

"Angelina-" Draco was cut off by another kick from Angelina. "-accidentally stepped on my foot. It hurts."

"Sorry Malfoy," Angelina said sweetly.

"Miss Nadford, I think that you are mature enough to call Mr Malfoy by his first name. After all you are a fifth year," Vector said sternly.

"Oh, alright," replied Angelina. Geez man, I am only thirteen, She thought bitterly.

As professor Vector got up, Angelina immediately moved to sit opposite Draco and saw that her sheet was next to his arm. Angelina asked sweetly, "Could you please pass me that sheet Draco?" She emphasised Draco. Draco glared at her but passed her the sheet.

As Professor Vector exited the room she thought to herself, what have I gotten myself into putting those two together?

***

Back at the Gryffindor common room, Hermione and Harry were deep in conversation.

"I'm worried about Angelina." Hermione started. Should I tell him, she thought. Well since I've already started might as well.

"What about her?" Harry asked.

"Um, well she's been having weird dreams and she thinks that our new DADA teacher is in league with You-know-who," Hermione said all at once.

"Huh? Voldemort and the DADA teacher? Doesn't that seem a little like last year? I'm sure that can't happen twice in a row," Harry said. Hermione nodded as well.

"But she seemed so sure this afternoon. She was positive that the ring Opwell was wearing was the same in her dream. I think it might just be a coincidence, but she was so sure," Hermione said uncertainly.

"Well we can't just walk up to him and demand the meaning of this, can we? Let's just keep our eyes open and see if anything happens. Probably it's just a coincidence," Harry concluded. Hermione nodded before biding him goodnight and heading towards her dormitory.
