Chapter One: The Run-Away
Crystal stomped into her room and slammed the door. She had been fighting with her mom all morning. Her mom had told her to Clean her room before she could go to her friends to "Study". Crystal had been secretly practicing magic for five years. She was a witch her mom denied her of going to a wizarding school when she found out that her daughter had a magical bloodline. Her father had hid it from her mom too long though. As Crystal started to calm down she looked at her room. Books that had been flung onto the ground, Potato chips strung across the room in little trails, Her bed not made... She realized that her mom was right. Her room was a mess.
Crystal grabbed her bag and stuffed a few books into it and opened her window. She still had some time to go to her friends house to study. Her mom wouldn't notice she'd gone anywhere for a few hours. Crystal threw her book bag on the ground, and quickly climbed out after it. Sure enough roughly a few minutes later she was knocking on her friend's front door.
"Who is it?" Someone said inside.
"Crystal! Is Kaylee home?" she replied.
"Oh I'll tell her you're here dear," the voice said back.
A minute later Kaylee opened the door. She instantly knew something was wrong by the expression on Crystal's face.
"Does your mom know that you're here?" She questioned.
"No," Crystal told her. " And you better not tell her. Isn't there a wizarding school in England or Scotland?"
"Yes, Hogwarts. Why do you want to know?" she said.
"I want to go there. I'm going to go to London and find my dad." Crystal said, "And there's nothing you can do to stop me!"
"Now Crystal we don't want to do anything stupid..." Kaylee said trying to console her.
"No! I'm going to London Like I did before! I'm going to look for my dad and I'm going back to Hogwarts!" Crystal started shouting now, her voice growing ever louder. " Your always trying to con me into staying here I've had enough! I've got enough to survive on my own for 4 months. I'm going to go find my dad and you can't stop me!"
"But," Kaylee started to say, but Crystal Interrupted her.
"No!" she said taking a run to her bike. She flung her backpack onto her shoulders and took off with a running start.
Kaylee knew she had to do something to stop her. She wasn't sure what would convince her to stay. She stood there in her yard for several minutes debating with herself. When she went inside she knew what she had to do. Kaylee picked up the phone and dialed Crystal's Mom's cell phone number.
"Hello?" Someone answered the phone.
"Yes, Crystals Mom right?" She managed to get out.
"Yes who is this?" She replied.
"Kaylee and I think Crystal is about to do something very stupid," said Kaylee still not calmed.
"WHAT??!?!?" she said in an angry voice. She slammed down the phone and ran down the hall. She opened Crystals door, and there standing in the middle of the room was Crystal. She was wet as though she had been sweating. Her Blonde hair was tangled and matted. Crystal's mom didn't notice any of that though. She was staring at the wand Crystal was clutching in her hand.
"I though I told you to get rid of that," she said through gritted teeth, " You were supposed to destroy it two years ago, after your father left. You said you didn't want to have anything to do with it. Why Crystal? Why are you doing this?" she was now slipping to the ground, crying.
"I'm going to go to London and find my dad. If I can't I'm going to stay there and finish learning magic. Mom you can't stop me, This is what I want to do," Crystal said, "Now I'm going to go to the airport and buy a ticket, ok?" she continued trying to console her mother, who was now whimpering.
She raised her wand just as Kaylee ran into the room. In a loud "CRACK" Crystal was gone. Kaylee looked down at the floor and saw Miss Bloom holding her legs to her chest and rocking back and forth mumbling on about dark wizards.
"Are you ok?" she said.
She didn't answer but instead looked up and went on mumbling.
