Draco was driving home in his Muggle car one night after work. The ministry had taken away all Apparating and Disapparating privileges from everyone, because people were not feeling safe, due to the growing threat of Lord Voldemort.

He kept driving, and as he turned each corner, he made a little tally mark on the dashboard of his car. It was an assignment from the ministry. Draco supposed it was some kind of distance checker, but he couldn't be sure.

He was driving fairly fast, but never felt out of control. He just wanted to finish this stupid assignment, and go home.

As he entered a sweeping right turn, he noticed he had drifted across the center line and was driving in the opposing lane of traffic. He immediately started turning harder, to get back to his own lane. It surprised him that he had drifted so far without noticing. He couldn't figure out how it happened...but there was no time to analyze the situation, because it seemed his efforts to get back in his lane were in vain. He was still steadily drifting to the left.
A few minutes later he was driving on the left shoulder, which soon dropped of into a chasm.

Then, not far away, he saw a bridge. 'if I could just reach the bridge, I might be ok...' he thought frantically. But he soon realized that the only way he could make it onto the bridge, was if he jumped part of the chasm.

As the front wheels left the dirt and gravel of the shoulder, he instinctively jerked up on the wheel, as if to aid the car in the jump. He felt the front wheels hit the pavement, and for a split second he thought he had made it. but as soon as the back wheels had left the shoulder, his forward progress seemed to have stopped. the bottom of the car was scraped on the edge of the bridge, and the back end of the car fell back over the chasm, and the rest of the car followed. He didn't make it.
He flattened himself against the seat and closed his eyes thinking 'if I hit soon, it won't be so bad...' but he kept falling...and falling...and falling...he listened to the sound of the wind roaring by the car, and his mind began to wander.

He thought of his wife Hermione, and their child that was due to be born in three weeks. He thought of how happy they all could've been. But he knew he would die. He had been falling too long to survive...
His thoughts wandered back to Hermione. Her beautiful face, framed with bushy brown hair. It would sure be a shock to her to find out he was dead. He hoped she wouldn't try to kill herself just to be with him.

Just as he was hoping he wouldn't make too big of a mess when he hit, the car seemed to slow down. He opened his eyes to see why he had slowed down, but immediately wished he hadn't. He saw a blinding white light, and heard a high, cold, mirthless laugh.
