"It's not that simple Ron!"
"What?! Can't give up that blasted Quidditch player for one week to visit your two best friends?!"
Hermione Granger was wet, she was cold, but more then anything she was furious.
"I told you Ron! I didn't go to see Viktor!" Hermione screamed.
The sky was dark above them and rain started to pound down in the grass behind The Borrow. Hermione stood out on the lawn yelling at Ron. He was the stupidest git in the world, Hermione thought. He was shouting at her for no reason but because Viktor Krum had sent her a letter.
"Stop writing to him!" Ron thundered. For a moment Hermione wasn't sure if it was his voice or real thunder that was making the entire Earth shake.
So she had written to him over the summer. Big deal. Hermione Granger was not one to be told what to do by some insufferable git named Ron Weasley!
The rain began to come down harder and both shouting parties ignored its wetness.
"You can't make me do anything Ron!" Hermione thundered back just as loudly. "You don't control me!"
Ron's eyes shot daggers at her. The blue depths of his soul were shown in the very eyes that at this moment were staring at Hermione in rage.
He stepped closer to her. "Don't make me make you," Ron said with a dangerous tone.
Hermione took a step towards him. She wasn't afraid of him. Not one bit.
"I dare you!" Hermione said, the rain pouring now and soaking her to the bone. She pushed her wet hair out her face and saw Ron do the same. "I just dare you!"
Ron closed the gap between them and glared down his tall frame at her. He placed both hands on her shoulders but did not shake her.
Hermione wanted him to shake the living daylights out of her, to show his anger, to hurt her like he already was. He only continued staring at her.
Hermione suddenly felt like she was drowning. The water around her was irrelevant. Ron's blue eyes proved more of dangerous water than any sea or ocean.
"Hermione..." Ron's voice wasn't as harsh as it had been. "I feel like I'm dying inside."
"Wh-what do you mean?" Hermione replied slightly confused under her anger.
"I- I break a little more each time I see a letter from Krum," Ron said running a hand through his soaking red hair. "I tear when I see you write him back. I just... can't..."
Hermione realized how close she was to him now. She wasn't altogether sure what he was getting at.
"What Ron..." Hermione started. Before she got half way through her sentence she was cut off.
Ron leaned over to her and whispered in her ear. It was hard to hear over the ear splitting storm going around them.
"I can't bare it. I love you too much," was what Hermione heard. She suddenly felt faint.
The storm seemed to stop. It hadn't stop and was blowing stronger and harder than ever, but to Hermione Granger the world was full of sunshine.
"I-I love you too Ron," she whispered back to him.
Ron smiled slightly. It was hard to see him through all the rain but Hermione could feel the heat coming from him.
"Hermione I--" Ron started but Hermione cut him off.
"No Ron," Hermione said softly. She touched his lips lightly with her hand and felt him shiver. "Don't talk."
Ron leaned just a little closer and closed the space between them. Hermione felt like she was on fire. The world was spinning wildly around her. It was going to crash but it didn't matter. Nothing matter now; Hermione realized Ron was kissing her, and nothing else mattered in the world.
When the kiss was broken Hermione realized it was still raining and she and Ron were very wet. They should be cold.
But they weren't.
The rain was on fire.
