Chapter Two
"Harry! Wake up, Harry!"
Harry covered his face and tried to block out the familiar voice, being, unfortunately, unsuccessful.
"Harry!"
"Ugh! What is it, Hermione?" Harry yelled back, getting up and giving Hermione a dirty look.
"You should go get into your own bed instead of sleeping here in the common room. You are VERY lucky Ron and I came in before McGonagall. You know she frowns on people sleeping in the common room."
Harry rolled his eyes. Hermione's constant lecturing was so annoying! But fortunately, he would have to put up with less of it. Since his relationship with Draco was over, he wouldn't be sneaking out of the common room as frequently. He remembered the first time he tried sneaking out:
"Harry?" Hermione asked, noticing Harry trying to sneak off with the invisibility cloak in his arms. "Where are you going?"
"Umm... uhh... well..." 'I should have put ON the invisibility cloak!' he thought. Harry hadn't told Hermione and Ron about Draco because he didn't know how they'd react, so he quickly tried to think of an answer so he wouldn't have to find out. "Library! See you later!" He smiled and turned to open the portrait hole, but Ron stopped him.
"The library? Why on earth do you want to go to the library!?!" he screamed, drawing the attention of several first years.
"I need a book... on... on Quidditch! Yeah..." He wondered if they would buy it.
"Harry, you have EVERY Quidditch book there is!" Apparently not. "Why don't you just go up to the dormitory and get one of your own?"
Harry sighed. He'd have to tell them about Draco - and better from him than anyone else. He quickly said a short prayer for the sake of Draco... and himself.
"Harry?" Hermione asked, looking worried. "What's going on?"
Harry opened his eyes and looked at Ron and Hermione. He knew Hermione would be cool about it... but Ron...He decided to just say it.
"I'm going to the Astronomy Tower to... to meet Draco." He closed his eyes and quickly opened them. Ron was completely pale - almost transparent. And Hermione was giving him an odd look as though she wanted to ask more questions, but was afraid.
"And... and WHY are going to meet...DRACO MALFOY in the astronomy tower?" she asked.
"And why are you calling him DRACO??" Ron bellowed.
"Be-because we're... umm...well..." So much for just saying it.
"Oh, God..." Ron cupped his hands around his face before bringing them down again and looking back at Harry. "Harry! You're... you're...!"
"Gay?" Fred asked entering he conversation with a mischievously shocked grin.
"Fred!" Hermione yelled, slapping him. Fred and George both laughed.
"I don't believe it! Famous Harry Potter! You had better hope Rita Skeeter doesn't get a hold of this!" George said, still grinning.
Ron looked as though he was going to be sick. "I... I don't believe it... how? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know." Harry shrugged.
"Didn't know? How could you not know!!! I mean, if you have a... a certain attraction to someone of the same gender, of course you're gay!!! Ugh! I don't believe this!" He got up and stormed up the stairs to the boys dormitory.
Harry looked desperately at Hermione. "Should I talk to him?"
Hermione, still looking a bit shocked, shook her head. "No... I think you had better let him cool down first. This is... well... this is really big news Harry."
"Yeah... I know..." Harry looked at Fred and George, who were busy telling everyone who hadn't heard the news. "I... I'm going to leave now..."
Hermione smiled. "Sure... go on. Umm... have fun?" she said, unsure. Harry smiled back and quickly exited through the portrait hole, glad it was over.
Ron got over it. But it had been strange for both Ron and Harry. Ron never acted the same around Harry and girls automatically thought that he had the same emotional needs as them and that he enjoyed all the things girls enjoyed, which wasn't true at all! He was still the same Harry, just... a little different. But they also got over it.
Harry sighed as he got off the couch and headed to the dorm, closing the door behind him and lowering his head. After a moment of thought, he looked back up and walked slowly towards his bed. He lay down, but couldn't go back to sleep. Which, to him, really sucked. Because that meant that he would have to lay in bed and think - for it was hard not to think - and all he could think about was Draco.
~*~*~*~*~
Draco slowly got out of bed the next morning and made his way to his trunk to retrieve his robes. After putting his robes on, slowly but accurately, he looked in the mirror and noticing the poor state his hair was in, grabbed his mousse and slicked it back. It still looked awful, but it would have to do.
He made his way down the stairs and into the common room, getting a few odd glances from some people - mostly second years. But that didn't matter to him he was use to it. When he and Harry had begun dating, some people avoided him - even Crabbe and Goyle! But after a while they got use to it and most of them began talking to Draco again. But Pansy was mortified! Draco didn't know if she would EVER talk to him again.
"Hey, Malfoy!" Draco turned to find Crabbe and Goyle coming towards him.
"Hullo Crabbe. 'Lo Goyle," he replied miserably.
"Going out with Harry tonight?" Draco's mood sunk even farther. He didn't answer.
"Malfoy?"
"No, Goyle. I'm not." Draco walked out of the common room in haste, leaving Crabbe and Goyle stunned.
He headed into the Great Hall, but decided that he wasn't very hungry when he saw Harry with Hermione and Ron. Instead, he went out to the lake. When he saw that a few others were also down there, he climbed into the tree so he wouldn't be seen. Unfortunately, that's not how it turned out.
"Hey, Malfoy! Whatcha' doing up there?" Draco looked down to see Fred and George looking at him.
'Great,' he thought. 'Just what I need right, now.' In a matter of seconds, the twins were up in the tree with Draco, looking around.
"Hmm... well, I guess I see why, now. The view is fantastic!" one of the twins exclaimed. Draco didn't know which one. It was still very hard for him to tell them apart.
Draco sighed and rolled his eyes. "What do you want, Weasley?" he snapped.
"Jeez, Malfoy! Calm down! No need to get your panties all in a bunch!"
Draco shot the twins a dirty look and jumped out of the tree and... into the lake. He came up for air briefly and then dove back under the surface. 'Wonderful! Just what I need! A cold shower...' Draco hated swimming. Actually... he hated just about anything that required any physical work. But it got him away from the "dynamic duo" so he figured it wouldn't be so bad. It took him only a minute to get down far enough that he could climb out of the water without having to worry about running into the Weasleys.
Draco got a few more odd glances as he climbed out of the water and began walking towards the school. He didn't really want to go back, but he was soaked and was going to need a change of clothes... unfortunately, he had left his wand in his other robes and couldn't cast a drying spell. As he stepped into the castle, he hit someone.
"Sorry," they both said in unison. Draco slowly looked up...
~*~*~*~*~*~
Harry go tout of bed the moment his alarm went off at six-o-clock. As he predicted, he hadn't slept at all.
"Ugh," he groaned as he rolled onto his side and tried to get out of the tangled blankets and off the bed. After he had gotten dressed, he walked over to Ron's four-poster and drew back the curtains. He was always afraid to this, though. He was afraid of what he might find behind those curtains, so he always pulled them back with caution.
Harry peeked behind the curtain to see if Ron was there, but he wasn't. Harry rolled his eyes and sighed as a small alarm went off. Ron had, again, put a snoop spell on his "area" so as to keep people out of his things. He had had Hermione teach him to perform this spell when he had caught Seamus and Dean going through his trunk, looking for something... they wouldn't name what it was, of course.
Harry put the curtains back and walked out of the dormitory just as Neville, Seamus, and Dean were opening their eyes - the alarm had waken them.
Harry walked down the stairs, through the common room, and down the halls to the Great Hall for breakfast, but stopped when he heard somebody yelling his name and running towards him. He turned to find Hermione - she had been waiting for him in the common room, but he hadn't seen her and assumed she was with Ron.
"Harry!" she said, out of breath. "Why did you just leave me in the common room? I sit and wait for you while Ron goes to eat - alone and unauthorized, who knows what he's swallowed - and you just LEAVE me!"
Harry smiled due to the comment about Ron. "Sorry, Mione. I didn't see you..." he apologized as he turned and began heading, once again, to the Great Hall, but this time with Hermione tagging along.
When they sat down - Hermione next to Ron and Harry across from him - Harry immediately began eating, without a word. This was very unusual for Harry, so, of course, Ron and Hermione were worried.
"Harry?" Hermione asked sweetly. "Is there anything wrong?" Harry looked up.
"No... why do think something's wrong?" Harry replied, shoving the food to the side of his mouth so he could talk. Hermione looked semi-disgusted and sighed. She hated it when Ron and Harry ate with their mouths full.
"You're not saying anything. How'd it go with Malfoy last night?" Ron joined in, spitting out the question. He loathed Draco and Harry didn't think anything would change that.
"Fine. Fine. Everything went... fine," Harry said to his plate before trying to change the subject. "'Mione, could you pass me the butter?"
"Sure," Hermione answered suspiciously, passing Harry the butter and a knife. Harry looked up long enough to thank her, but afterwards, wouldn't look up again.
After breakfast, he, Hermione, and Ron got up and headed for the library to work on their potions assignment, but were thrown when Harry collided with another student. "Sorry," they said at the same time. Recognizing the voice, Harry looked up very quickly...
