"Stupid bloody thing," Ginny's voice rang out into the now silent room. Who's stupid idea was it to make Wizard computers?
"Is there a problem, Ms. Weasley," her bosses' voice answered back.
"No, sir," she managed to mumble.
"Then we can move on. Ginny, I have a new story I want you to write. I want you to go back to Hogwarts, and find out what the 'popular' group is into. Understand?"
"B-back to Hogwarts, Sir?"
"Is there a problem, Ginny?"
"My Hogwarts days weren't the best, Sir. But I will go back for the story. Wait, how do I get in?"
"You will be posing as a student!"
"Oh, great. When do I start," she said in a not-so-enthused voice.
"Tomorrow. You will catch the Hogwarts Express tomorrow at 11:15, here is your ticket, good luck." He turned to the rest of the room. "Parvati, Lavender, I have an assignment for you too..." His voice faded away as thoughts of Hogwarts came to Ginny.
~*~
"And Ginny Weasley." Ginny stood admits the cheers and claps, as she, too, got her diploma. "This has to be the best day of my life," she thought sarcastically. She smiled at Dumbledore and the crowd as she shook hands with some teachers.
As Ginny sat back down, Dumbledore announced that the Graduates could now continue to their farewell party.
"Do you want to dance Ginny," a handsome Colin Creevey asked her.
Ginny smiled at Colin. "Sure..."
~*~
"GINNY," screamed Lavender.
"Huh?" Ginny jerked awake.
"Meetings over!"
"Oh thanks," she said while scrambling to grab all her stuff.
The whistle sounded. Hell, I only have a minute. Ginny hopped onto the train, and walked towards the back, looking for an empty compartment. She found one in the very back. Oh, someone's in here...hmm, oh well. She sat down across from the rather handsome boy, without asking.
"Hello," Ginny said.
"Hey," he answered back, smiling. That is a really nice smile.
"What's your name?"
"Me? I'm...er...Destiny. Destiny May." Why does he have to smile like that?
"I'm Jordan. Jordan Stevens," he said in a slight mocking tone.
The rest of the trip went smoothly, from Jordan buying her a Cauldron Cake off the trolley, to him announcing he was Head Boy. Looks like I am already 'in'. Great.
"We better change into our robes, Jor."
"Are you gonna leave so I can change?"
"Modest, are we," she said while taking off her jacket.
"N-no. Of c-course not!" How cute! He's fumbling with his clothes.
"Bye, Jor, I'll see you at school."
"And Destiny May," barked Professor McGonagall. With a slight smile and a wink, McGonagall put the hat on her head.
"Ginny Weasley? Oh yes, I remember now, the Special Circumstances...we don't need to go through this again."
"Gryffindor," the hat screamed out.
Smiling, as she set the hat down, she headed to her old table, many of the boys turning to get a better look. Boys. She looked up and down the table, finally spotting Jordan.
"Hey, Jor," she said sitting down next to him, earning herself a glare from a girl sitting across from Jordan. She helped herself to pork chops and mashed potatoes.
"And you are," the girl said coldly.
"Destiny. Jor and I met on the train," she said, putting her arm around him. "Oh, what's your name?"
"Chastity," she replied, with the same glare.
Ginny smiled at her one more time, and turned to look at the High Table. Sprout, Hagrid, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Lupin, Trewlaney, Flitwick, and Sinistra...someone's missing. Snape...who's that in his spot...
"Draco Malfoy," her voice rang out disbelievingly.
Draco looked up from his meal to see how shouted out his name.
"She looks an awful like the little Weasel," he thought. "Oh well." He gave her a smile and a wave and returned to his meal.
This is gonna be a long year...
The first month passed without much event, except Potions. Ginny was really beginning to like that class.
"Ms. May, will you please pay attention," Draco yelled during class.
"Yes, Sir," she said while flashing him a sexy smile. It worked. Draco began to stutter and drop things. That's just what I wanted.
"Ms. May, I need to see you after class," he said, and flashed her his own breath-taking smile.
Ginny could only nod. If he only knew what the smile does to me. Ginny must have been licking her lips while staring at Draco, because next thing she knows, Jor elbows her.
"What are you doing," he hissed in her ear.
"Mixing a potion."
"You're staring at Professor Malfoy and licking your lips."
"Was I? Oh sorry." She began stirring her potion, longingly and dirtily thinking of Draco could want after class.
"Class dismissed. Ms. May, please come here," Draco said finally.
Ginny waited until the rest of the class staggered out before making her approach.
"Yes, Sir," she purred, while settling herself on his lap.
Draco lifted her up off his lap and stood her next to him instead. Ginny began pouting. Spoil my fun.
"Yes, Ms. May, I can't have you trying to seduce me in class anymore. It's rather disrupting. That will be all."
Ginny sulked out the door, where Jordan was standing waiting for her.
"What did he want," Jordan asked.
"He told me to stop trying to seduce him in class. There goes my entertainment!"
"I can't believe you. How did you 'seduce' him anyway," Jordan asked while laughing.
"Like this," Ginny said, and flashed him her sexy smile. It worked. Jordan began stuttering again.
"O-oh. C-cool. As H-Head Boy, I have to ask you not to do that to teachers," he finished regaining his cool, and that smile.
"Right-O, Mate. Lunch...I'm starved!" She linked arms with Jordan and together they set off towards the Great Hall.
Whispers followed her and heads turned as she entered with Jordan, but she was far too used to it to care. She did care, what the whispers were however.
"...Malfoy..."
"...On his lap..."
"...Seducing a teacher..."
Ginny blushed crimson, but kept walking, her head held high. She sat in her usual seat next to Jordan, and hid her head in her arms.
"Jor, who told them," Ginny said, slightly muffled by her arms.
"What's the matter, Destiny? Didn't want the school knowing your little secret," Chastity sneered.
Ginny's eyes flashed with anger. She stood up and took out her wand, pointing it at Chastity's chest.
"It was you," she growled. "You little bi-"
"Is there a problem here, Ms. May," Draco drawled.
"Yes, of course there is! This little...cow...told the whole school what happened in the dungeons. That could ruin your rep to you know!"
"Nevertheless, you are threatening another student. I will have to take 5 points from Gryffindor. Now, Ms. Jorgensen, I suggest you stop spreading rumors," he lowered his voice so only she could hear, "you never know what could happen."
Draco walked back up to the High Table, and Ginny sat fuming. I hate her! I hate her! I hate her! Jordan was giving Chastity almost the same glare Ginny was. He's so cute when he tries to look menacing.
Jordan leaned over and whispered something in Ginny's ear. Ginny giggled and nodded. Chastity eyed them suspiciously but decided not to say anything and continued eating.
"Wasn't Potions great today, Des," Jordan asked loudly so that Chastity would hear.
"It was great," Ginny replied. "I'm not really hungry, are you?"
"Not really."
"So what are we gonna do all during lunch?"
"I'm sure we could find something to do."
"Right, follow me." Ginny grinned as she grabbed Jordan's hand and led the way to Gryffindor tower.
"She should be here any moment. You ready," Ginny asked.
Jordan simply nodded. He sat down on the couch, shirt off, and Ginny positioned herself on top of his lap, cloak off, and shirt unbuttoned dangerously low.
They heard the painting open, and Ginny pressed her mouth to Jordan's, not being able to hide her smile.
"Jordan, how could you," Chastity asked through her tears. Ginny jumped up off Jordan and began buttoning her shirt. "You knew I liked you...you knew it," she choked. Jordan looked up at Chastity and couldn't help feeling a little sorry. He put his shirt back on, much to Ginny's disappointment.
"I'm sorry, Chas, we just wanted to teach you not to spread rumors," he said kindly.
"I'm sorry, too," Ginny said somewhat reluctantly.
"Yeah, me too. Forgive me," Chastity asked.
"Of course," Jordan said and gave her a hug.
Between the fights with Chastity, and all the homework, Ginny couldn't believe it when it was Christmas break.
"Are you going home for Christmas, Jor," Ginny asked that morning.
"No, I don't think so. Are you?"
"Nope, I want to stay. What about you Chas?"
"I'm going home," Chastity said sadly. "My mum is sick and needs me to take care of her."
"I'm sorry," Ginny said.
"Don't be."
The week passed gradually, Jordan and Ginny passing the time playing chess or exploding snap, or talking. Finally, Christmas morning came.
"It must be Christmas," Ginny said rubbing her eyes bleakly. She gathered up her gifts and ran up to Jordan's dorm.
"Oi! Presents! Wake up," she called.
She sat down on the floor and waited for the sleepy and slightly grumpy Jordan to join her.
"I thought we could open ours together," she said.
An hour passed as they slowly opened up their presents. Ginny ended up with Chocolate Cake from Chastity, the usual from her mother, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans from Ron, a tape recorded from Harry (no doubt he thought it would help with her articles), some cute clothes and a picture of her and Ron's baby from Hermione, and a bracelet from Jordan. Ginny had to explain several times over that Harry was an old friend of hers, and promise to get an autograph.
Jordan got an 'Owl translator' book from Chastity, some Quidditch books from his mum, some candy from his family, and a watch from Ginny.
The rest of the break passed just as slowly, except when Ginny and Jordan would sneak off to Hogsmeade. Chastity came back four days after Christmas, and school began again the next day.
There had been no more encounters in Potions, until the Friday before Easter break. Draco announced that the N.E.W.T.s were coming up, and piled on their homework.
"Professor Malfoy," Ginny said with her hand in the air.
"Yes, Ms. May?"
"Did Professor Dumbledore tell you about my Special Circumstances? I don't think I need N.E.W.T. practice papers, as I won't be taking them."
This earned Ginny a glare from all the Slytherins, and a smile from the Gryffindors.
"Yes, he did inform me. If you will see me after class, I will give you your assignment."
The class broke out in sniggers.
"Remember what happened last time, Des," Chastity asked, still sniggering.
"That's not going to happen again, trust me."
So once again, Ginny waited until the class file out and then made her way up to the desk. Gee, this seems strangely familiar.
"Here you are, Ms. May," Draco said as he passed Ginny her assignment.
"Thank you, Professor," she said, and began to leave.
"Ms. May?"
"Yes, Professor," she asked and turned around.
"We are starting a new tradition this year. We are voting for Most Likely's. Most Likely To Succeed, Most Likely To Be Rich, etc. I encourage you to try out for Most Likely To Succeed."
"Er, alright, Professor." That was weird.
Ginny and the rest of the seventh years could hardly believe it when Easter break was over and the Exams were a week away. Some of them were dazed, and couldn't believe it, however, most of them were on their way towards a nervous breakdown. Try as she might to tell everyone that there is nothing to worry about, Ginny couldn't get through. So as she sat there in the common staring out the window, everyone else sat there doing last minute studying.
Ginny entertained herself during the exams, by talking to Draco. She learned a lot about him that she never knew, even when she was at school. They kissed once, but as Ginny was his student, they couldn't go any farther. The exams finally passed, and left her and her classmates free until the results came back.
They voted the next day for the Most Likely's and would find out the results the same day the exam results got back.
The seventh years got their results, and everyone passed. Jordan got the top marks, followed closely by Chastity, and some Ravenclaw girl. As they all filed into the Great Hall for Dinner that night, Dumbledore said they would be announcing the winners tonight.
Ginny waited patiently for everyone to finish their dinners. She was going to admit her secret today. Finally, Dumbledore stood up and started announcing the winners. Not surprisingly, Jordan was voted Most Likely To Be Rich. Chastity was voted Most Likely To Be Famous. A Hufflepuff girl was voted Most Likely To Marry. The list went on. Dumbledore announced that this next one was the big one. They winner would get a crown and some pretty flowers. The tension was almost unbearable. He opened the envelope.
"Most Likely To Succeed is...Destiny May."
Ginny stood and walked to the High Table to get her crown. She wasn't aware of all the cheering; all she could see was Draco smiling at her. Ginny turned to the crowd, and took off her crown.
"None of this matters to me. My name isn't Destiny May, it's Ginny Weasley. (Draco was staring at her in shock.) I graduated from Hogwarts four years ago. I have been pretending to a student for an undercover story for the Daily Prophet. I never wanted any of this. I didn't want your crown, or your flowers; I just wanted to fit in. And for the first time in my life, I did. I wasn't the 'Girl that followed around Harry' anymore. I was Destiny May, and I mattered. I want to thank Jordan and Chastity who befriended me, no questions asked. It took a while to win over the rest of you, but I did it."
Everyone was staring at her, and then they burst out in applause, all except Draco. He got up and walked out of the great hall. Ginny jumped down and ran after him.
"Draco, wait!"
She found him sitting outside on the stone steps.
"Draco," she said softly.
"You lied to me," he said.
"I know, but I had to. I really like you Draco, in fact, I think I love you. Please believe me! I would never intentionally do anything to hurt you."
"Well, you did." He stood up and walked away.
Tears were now streaming down her face. I am evil. Look what I did. I have to make it up to him. I have to prove it to him somehow. Slowly she worked out a plan, discussed it with Dumbledore, who agreed, and scheduled one last Quidditch match. In the days that followed in the wait for the game, Ginny wrote this article in the Daily Prophet:
Never Been Kissed
By: Ginny Weasley
The past year I have spent as a student a Hogwarts. I was sent undercover to find out about teenagers. I was to befriend the popular crowd, and find out what makes them tick, what they do for one, and all this other stuff. In the process of writing my story, I hurt someone I care about. I want to make it up to him, by giving him my very first [public] kiss. He should meet me in the center of the Pitch at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow before the Teacher's Quidditch match. The clock will be set to five minutes, in which time, I hope he shows up.
The days passed slowly, but finally it was time to win Draco back. She positioned herself in the middle of the pitch, picked up her magical microphone and said, "Five minutes, please." And the countdown began. Ginny was scanning her eyes frantically along the rows, hoping to see him come down. Any time now.
"Five...Four...Three...Two...One." The crowd hushed in gloom as the clock stopped. Ginny dropped the magical microphone, and stood there dazed. He hates me. He didn't show up. All of a sudden the crowd started cheering, as Draco made his way down to the pitch.
"Not too late, am I," he asked.
"Never," she replied and pressed her lips to his. The crowd awed and finally they broke apart. Ginny had tears moistening her eyes, and a silly grin on her face. He loves me. He wiped her tears with his thumbs, looked into her eyes, and kissed her again. This is the way it should be.
