A New Day Has Come

Chapter 1
Welcome to NYC!
"Hahaha! Ron, stop it!" said Hermione Granger. The 17-year-old was short for someone her age, but was smart and spunky all the same. Ron Weasley, one of her best friends was tickling her.
"I was just having fun." Ron was pretending to be all offended. "Besides, Harry should be back any minute now."
"Here, I got you this in Hogsmeade. You don't have it and I now that for a fact." Ron looked inside the bag Hermione had just handed him.
"The new Chudley Cannons book! Thanks Hermione!" Ron loved the Chudley Cannons. The seventh years were going on a trip to visit America the next week and Hermione thought he would need something to keep him busy, knowing he got bored easily. She didn't want him to complain to her, which he always did.
"Hey, guys. What's that Ron?" Harry said as he walked into the Common Room of Gryffindor Tower.
"Chudley Cannons book. Hermione got it for me," Ron said, browsing through his book.
"It's for the trip next week. Did you pass?" Hermione was absentmindedly twirling a piece of hair.
"Yeah. I don't see why they don't just send us into Hogsmeade, and let us Apparate to the U.S. there? It doesn't make sense." Ron agreed with him. Harry took of his backpack and fell into one of the big puffy chairs.
"Ron, we don't have any experience. That's kind of obvious, don't you think?" Seeing his face she said, "You wouldn't think you such an expert when you got splinched, and half of you is in Hogsmeade, and the other half is in the lobby of the World Trade Center. It's true! It would be pretty funny, though."
"Hmmmmm! That is funny!" Harry, you really need to start using your brain! Don't you let a stupid crush ruin your friendship and schoolwork, Harry thought.
"Harry? Hulloo? Harry?" Hermione waved her hand in front of Harry's face. "Harry? Did you even hear what I said?"
"S-sorry. No," he answered her. Then he noticed Ron was upstairs.
"I was wondering if you would, uh, maybe sit by me on the plane?" She looked down, blushed, and wished she hadn't said it.
"Uh, sure!" It was Harry's dream to be with Hermione. "And there was something I wanted to ask you too. Would you share a room with me in New York?"
"Of course!" Her red cheeks eved away at once.
Hermione walked into the hotel room. She went into the closet. When she came out Harry gasped. She was in a red silk nightdress that was spaghetti strapped and had little pink roses on it.
"Oh, you look beautiful!"
"I got it just for you!" she said as she climbed into the bed. Then she embraced and kissed him.
"That was the greatest dream I have ever had!" Harry told himself as he put on his glasses. When he had gotten that done, he started packing. It was the day they left for New York and he hadn't packed at all. He had been thinking about Hermione.
It was 11:00 and a few people were still lingering in the dorms, trying to decide what to wear. Harry realized Hermione was still upstairs.
Hermione walked down the spiraling staircase. Harry starred at her, dumbstruck. She was in a yellow spaghetti strapped dress with blue flowers on it that went to right below her knee. She walked over to her bags, levitated them and walked out of the portrait-hole, cool as can be. When she was the first one to the door, Filch was surprised. She was usually the last one to the door at these kinds of events. She walked past him and got in a carriage.
"Well this one looks clean enough," said someone from outside the carriage. Then the Popular Posse of Hogwarts came into the carriage Hermione was sitting in. "Well, well, well, who do we have here? What's your name?" The one who was talking was none other than group leader, Annie McGonagall. Even though her mother was a professor, she was thought of highly for her sense of style, besides the fact that her mother was deputy headmistress, and Dumbledore was her best friend and school teacher.
"Okay, Annie I will be leaving now. Don't want to forget the incident last Christmas." Hermione had been pushed of the balcony the last Christmas by Annie and had been in a wheelchair for three months.
"Well, Miss 'I'll-be-leaving-now', this is the only carriage open, so you'll just have to deal with us until we get to the airport, so get comfy."
"Why me?" she said pleadingly as the carriage started moving. "Why do I have to deal with this?"
"Because you can," said a quiet voice on her right side. "I have to deal with this every day because I don't have the nerve to stand up for myself. They always put me down, but they pull me up again. I always think they think I'm cool afterwards, but I know now that I'm wrong." Hermione turned to see Padma Patil shrunk down on the seat with a cast on her arm and a patch on her forehead and on the back of her neck.
Since they were in a different part of the carriage than the rest, Hermione asked, "What did they do to you?"
"I was standing in the hallway, talking with my cousin, Lilly, who's a first year. Then they came up to me and said 'What the heck are you doing?' And then I said I was talking to my cousin. After, Annie asked me why I wasn't asking her to empty her pockets instead of making polite conversation with my favorite cousin." Hermione saw a tear run down Padma's cheek. "When I said she was m-my c-cousin, s-she set her b-bodyguard o-on me. A-and he b-b-beat me u-up." She was crying really hard now.
"When did she get a bodyguard?" Hermione asked, disgusted. "She doesn't need one."
"S-she g-got h-him when she p-pushed you o-off t-the balc-cony. She a-asked h-her m-mum."
"Flight for New York leaving in ten minutes. All passengers to the boarding area!" said a very curt voice from over the speakerphone.
"We better hurry. We can't be late," Hermione said. She dragged Harry and Ron to the boarding area.
"Will they have peanuts on this flight? I like peanuts," said Ron. He had never been on a plane, therefore, was very excited. He was all hyper from the coffee Harry had bought him at Starbucks.
"I don't know Ron, but could you PLEASE be quiet?!" said Hermione through gritted teeth. "They just called us! Come on!"
"First class boys?" the woman at the front desk asked.
"What do ya say, you two?" asked Ron. He took a look at his friends.
"Sure!" the other two answered. The secretary gave them their tickets.
"You're lucky. Those are the last First Class tickets we have. Have a good trip!" She told them this and Harry and Hermione got in line, while Ron went to look at the plane.
"Wow! Look at that baby! It's awesome!" Ron told them as he joined them down the hallway to the plane. When they got on it, they were astonished. It was like a hotel. In an airplane. Once they had gotten into the elevator, they looked at the Popular crew, yelling at the manager, because they thought since they were who they were they should get nice rooms, not a room, closet and a toilet out in the open. When the manager stomped into his office, Annie started crying and banging on his door.
"Here's our floor! C'mon!" said Ron. When they got to their room, it was so cool. It was designed completely Gryffindor. It was two floors.
"I call the room with the home theater!" called Hermione, even though the boys were in the same room. She ran up there with her bags. "Wow! You guys have got to check this out! This is SO cool!" The two dropped their bags and ran upstairs. "Can you believe this is an airplane? It's amazing!" Hermione said as Harry and Ron ascended the staircase.
"There just two things I want to ask. One, why are we in a hotel/airplane and do they have peanuts?" asked Ron
"Go look in your own mini fridge! And not just Hogwarts is going on this trip! A bunch of schools are!" Hermione told him this and he went to search for his room of the hotel room/apartment.
"Eureka! Peanuts!" called Ron from yet another huge room.
"I going on the computer. Could you go look for the kitchen?" said Hermione. She put in a DVD.
{}
"Beth, would you just shut-up for one single hour? I am trying to do some studying here!" Hermione was lying in her room in her father's apartment.
"Well, I'm going shopping!" said Beth. She walked down the stairs and out the door. Hermione put in a cassette. It was her favorite. When she had been in the hospital the past few months, she had listened to it at least once every two days. Harry and Ron walked into her room.
"You like this music? I didn't know that. Doesn't that stuff rock! said Harry. He plopped down on the bed.
"Yeah! This is awesome," Hermione answered him, not looking away from her book.
"We know how to do a little." Ron was shifting her CD's around, seeing which ones she had.
"I know someone with a recording studio. I'm sure he'd let you fool around a bit if he knew you were my friends. C'mon."
{}
"Mickie!" Hermione ran into a man that was tall and he swung her around. He walked them inside.
"Hey, Hermione! Great to see ya! Hey Harry! Ron!" Mike threw his coat down on a chair. "Do you guys want to fool around a bit? You can." Mike walked them to the back room were there was a recording studio. He walked Harry and Ron inside while Hermione took a seat. Mickie took out some drums and an electric guitar. Then he walked out and sat down at the control desk.
"Come here," said Mike to Hermione. She came and sat down by her brother. He put his arm around her. "Why are you here, Mione? Are you and Harry and Ron here for a visit?"
"No. We're here for school. And how do you know Harry and Ron? Hey, I like this song!" Hermione was now being very attentive to the now three boys who were in the recording studio. Harry, Ron, and Seamus. They were playing the song she had been listening to earlier. She couldn't believe they had never told her! She was hurt. But she didn't care. Her friends, her best friends, were a singing sensation! Her BOYFRIEND! Kind of.
Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Hermione stopped pushing the ice button. Her glasses slipped off the edge of her nose. Someone was behind her. He stepped on her glasses.
"My glasses!" She rounded on the boy who had stepped on them. It was Malfoy. "Grrr! That is SO like you!" She tried to walk away. He put his arm on her shoulder.
"Wait! I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean to! Really!" He fixed her glasses and gave them to her.
"Thanks." She took the ice and started down the hall. She saw Harry down by the room. He was kissing another girl. ANOTHER GIRL?! She hurtled down the hall, dropping ice as she went. She was too late. When she got down there, the girl, Jenna, was in her room. She took her fist, and punched him in the face.
"You are NOT sleeping in this room tonight!" She stormed inside the room and closed the door. "I need your key." She took it out of his hands and slammed the door in his face.
"What was that all about?" asked Ron as he picked up the ringing phone.
"Tell you later."
"Your dad's on the phone. He wants you to have dinner with him tonight." Ron covered the mouthpiece.
"Sure. Whatever."
Chapter 2
Big Surprises
"Hullo, Dad," said Hermione as she walked into the Palomino. She was in her nice dress.
"Hullo, Hermione, my dear. You should put your jacket on. It's terribly cold in here!" Her dad patted her hand.
"Not terribly." She slipped her shawl over her shoulders.
{}
They were eating dessert when he dropped the bomb.
"Darling, there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it, Dad?"
"That's the thing. I'm, uh, not your father."
"WHAT?! Then who is?" Then, to her ultimate surprise, Professor Severus Snape walked in out of the shadows. "Who are you people, treating me like this? I do NOT think this is respectful to me. And if you're my father," she said pointing to Snape. "Who was my mother?"
"Susie. Beth and Tom are your godparents." Snape pulled up a chair.
"I'm not going to tolerate this. And all I want you to do is LEAVE ME ALONE!" She stomped out of the restaurant, leaving her dessert lying uneaten on the table.
{}
"Come on! I'm taking you with me. I don't care what you say." Kim Granger dragged her older sister into the car, and pushed the gas pedal. "We're here!" She pushed Hermione inside. "Hermione, I know you want this and I don't want you to lie to me." She knocked on the door to Noelia Craig.
"Come in," said a short woman that was sitting at a desk decked with statues and pictures of ballerinas. "Hermione! We missed you!"
"I was here to, uh, tell you I was going to accept the part to be Ariel and Sarah in the recital. I would really like the part." She was shaking all over.
"Why thank you! Will you come to the practice tomorrow?" Noelia was glowing. She couldn't get anyone to play the part better than Hermione.
{}
Hermione was sitting in her costume, at the studio putting on her toe shoes. She felt good. Ahh. This feels right. I'm glad I'm here!, thought Hermione. She started practicing her part. Her costume was beautiful. It was a turquoise unitard that had a blue skirt to match. Her toe shoes were turquoise as well. She had long hoped to be on a broadcasted recital and to be two of the main parts.
"Owww! Thalia? What are you doing here?" Hermione was sitting on a bench rubbing her head where the cat had landed. She looked down upon the pitiful looking animal. A cat with wings. She chuckled. Really a tiger with wings, since she was so large. This brand only showed themselves to wizard kind. Muggles would lock them in zoos. London would be glorious, finding there was such a creature. Hermione had the only female seen in over a century. The females liked to conceal themselves. Thalia didn't know that.
"I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night," the slightly snotty caticus said. "Besides, you've been coming here for weeks." Though she was only a year old, she was quite big and was an adult in her standards.
"Well, you aren't going to be having a nice meal of table scraps anymore. You'll be meeting my dad tomorrow. Remember Professor Snape?"
"Yup!"
"That's him."
{}
"Look at her." Harry was looking into the ballet studio, watching Hermione dance. "That's her! That one!" He pointed to Hermione.
"That's the mystery girl you were talking about? Give. Me. A. Break. That fat one?" Ron looked in disgust at a fat black-haired girl.
"No! The one with the blue skirt!"
"Wow." The dancers started filing out of the studio.
"Excuse me!" Harry put his arm on Hermione's shoulder. He looked different himself, so she didn't recognize him.
"Ahh! Oh, you frightened me. Sorry." Hermione started packing her things, and taking off her Pointe shoes.
"Well I didn't mean to scare you. I'm sorry. Do you think we could have dinner sometime?" Harry looked at her hopefully, thinking that a beautiful girl like her couldn't possibly be single.
"Well, not this week. My dad wants to have dinner with me. Maybe next week!" She walked into the dressing room to change.
"Guess who has a date!" Harry said as he walked up to Ron, cool as you please.
"With the really pretty one? The star? Oh please! Give me a break! You're acting like you're going out with a movie star!" Ron shoved Harry's bag at him and picked up his guitar.
"Ron, I practically am going out with a movie star! She a famous ballerina! World-known choreographers will probably be there!"
"Really?! I wanna come!"
"Okay, if you're sure!"
{}
"You're possessed, you know that?" Hermione said to her caticus as Kim drove back to the hotel.
"Why? Why am I possessed?" Thalia was having her claws painted Blueberry.
"Because you're only doing this to get a guy! If you were your regular self, you would howl at the thought of a manicure!" Her was sitting by her sister in the salon part of the limo.
"She's right, you know. You used to think nail polish was ludicrous. I really think you should let her vend on her own for a while, Hermione. Let her how cruel male caticus' can be!" Kim was eating a jumbo bag of Cheeto's, which she thought Hermione would think would be enough for her dinner.
"Your trick isn't going to work, Kimmy. I'm not going to think that's your dinner. We're going to get room service. We're here!"
"Yeah! We get room service! We get room service!" She did something like a tango when going into hotel.
{}
"Oh, this feels good!" Hermione was wearing a long flowing dress. The boy she had met was taking her out tonight. His name was John. Since she had thought he might know Harry, she told him her name was Tiffany. The local wizarding school who was hosting them was having a dance that night. John was taking her there. She heard someone knocking at the door.
"Bye Kim! See ya!" She called up the stairs and ran into John's big arms.
