Harry woke up one morning, put on his robe and walked downstairs. He was thinking about what he still had to sneak upstairs into his room and remembered that the only thing he had left was his wand. He quickly picked the lock on his trunk and removed his wand and put it in his robe pocket as he walked into the kitchen.
"Oy, get over her and give me more coffee, boy!" Uncle Vernon yelled at Harry one morning at breakfast. "And don't spill it this time!"
"Yes Uncle Vernon," Harry said as he walked the coffee over to his uncle. Harry then saw his cousin's porky leg the size of a fire hydrant stick out from under the table. Harry dodged it and muttered under his breath to Dudley "Hocus Pocus."
Dudley let out a whimper and ran and hid behind his mom. "You little dirt bag! You now get to mow the lawn, wash the car, vacuum the house, trim the hedges..."
But Harry wasn't listening. He was thinking about the vision he had had the night before. The vision of Aunt Petunia screaming with utter terror on her face. A mix between shock, horror, sadness, and hatred...But why, why was she screaming? It just didn't make any sense.
He walked up into his room, took off his robe and put on his clothes, completely forgetting to take a shower as he walked down stairs.
"Get to work now!" commanded Uncle Vernon to Harry.
As Harry walked outside ready to mow the lawn, and owl dropped by. Harry, surprised to see any body really did care about him, opened it quickly. It was just the list of items he'd be needing for next year. It read:
Standard Book Of Spells Year 5
Provisions Of Perishing
The Great Book Of Ghosts
Illegal Potions
Crazy Creatures
He also noticed another owl flying down. He saw that whatever it was carrying was quite a bit larger than what the first owl had. He hastily made a move to open that, too. It was a book, Provisions Of Perishing. One of the books that was on the list. But there wasn't a card attached to it. He wondered who it was from and decided to throw it out in case it was a booby trap of some sort. Harry then made his way to mow the lawn. After hours of grueling work he finished.
" Dad isn't going to bring you into town to get your freak stuff this year. He said you will just have to walk." Dudley howled with laughter and continued to lick his ice cream.
Harry had wished that ice cream was his but decided it was better not to ask Aunt Petunia for any. Instead, he walked in and poured himself a glass of water. Just as another owl flew in and stopped on the laughing Dudley's shoulder. He screamed and ran out just as Harry read the letter. It was from Hermione:
Dear Harry,
If Ron hasn't already told you, we are going into Diagon Alley on the 20th of July. And bring your bags,
And the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is MRS. Provident. I hadn't heard of her until I had gotten the Daily Prophet but she is suppose to be really famous. Harry, meet us in front of Flourish and Blotts,
With Love,
Hermione
