Top Ten Reasons I Wish I Was My Best Friend, Ginny Weasley
10.) Ginny's smart. So smart, in fact, that she was moved up to seventh year Potions. No matter how much Snape hates her, he has given her Outstanding on practically every assignment. She's doing almost as well as Hermione is, and that's no mean feat. While I'm not stupid or anything, I'm certainly nothing special in the academic department.
9.) Ginny has perfectly good eyesight. I, on the other hand, was forced to wear hideous thick framed glasses until I was eleven. After a lot of pleading and a bit of desperation, Mum finally got me contacts before I had to go to Hogwarts.
Ginny also has nice teeth. I had to wear braces for four years because my jaw was making my teeth grow in awkwardly. Having braces is one of the most humiliating experiences you could go through - primary school was a living hell.
8.) Ginny has a huge family - we're talking Brady Bunch size. Plus, she's the youngest. With those odds, she never gets blamed for anything. Especially since she's the only girl. All I have is a younger sister, Lacey, who's 12. Having Lacey for a sister was tolerable after I went away to Hogwarts and only had to see her during holidays, but now that she's in Hogwarts, I'm always getting, "So you're Lacey's big sister?" It's enough to drive anybody up the wall. Lacey is almost as perfect as Ginny, but she did inherit the terrible eyesight that runs in the family. The summer before she started at Hogwarts, Lacey bribed me by doing my chores for two weeks so I wouldn't tell anyone at Hogwarts that she has to wear contacts like I do. This one flaw was enough to make me content for about three years, until I figured out that the ratio of Lacey's flaws to mine is about 1: infinity.
7.) Ginny is built like Britney Spears - thin, flat tummy, long legs. I'm not fat, but I definitely could be skinnier, and it's really hard for me to keep weight down. Ginny could eat six times as much as I do, and she'd probably lose a few pounds. Her metabolism has always made me extremely envious.
And if that isn't enough, she's got a chest. It didn't really start appearing until fourth year but at least it did. I have absolutely no chest to speak of, and if I ever do get one, I doubt it will rival Ginny's.
If this isn't already making you sick with jealousy, then listen to this. Ginny has flawless skin. Even the handful of freckles she had when she was younger faded significantly before you could say "lucky" the second she hit puberty. I had to go to weekly appointments to the dermatologist for six months when I was ten so they could find a remedy to my acne. Now that I'm sixteen, all I have to do is slather on about six layers of anti-acne lotion every morning. That may have put my acne under control but I still have a faceful of freckles that like to stand out even more every time I blush. Even though Ginny's the redhead, I still seem to blush a thousand times more than she does.
6.) Her hair. It's long, thick and this perfect red color that is so perfect that when you see it you think it's hair dye. I don't even think the color has a name. When I tell Ginny she could name it and make a fortune selling paint, she laughs. But her hair is really beautiful. I was lovingly gifted with stringy dirty blonde hair, rather than the golden curls that the rest of my family has. So I guess that makes me an all around loser - against my family and my best friend.
5.) She totally popular. Some days I wonder why on earth she would want me as a best friend. If Ginny were to just drop me one day (which I know she would never do, though I wouldn't blame her if she did), she'd probably have half the school's female population begging for the position. Ginny also always has countless guys drooling over her. I seriously doubt she will ever go a day as single, unless it's by choice. I wouldn't be very surprised if she started making application forms so whenever a relationship ends she can just hand them out to all the guys trailing after her.
4.) Ginny has the greatest personality. She's nice, friendly, caring, understanding, very unselfish, loving, and funny but she always knows when to be serious. Ginny always knows the right thing to say too. Despite the fact that I am in love with her boyfriend (a fact I have not brought myself to tell her), I frequently complain about my lack of sex appeal, and yes, it's to get pity. Ginny has told me that one day I will find my soul mate and we will be happy forever. The only problem is, how will I know if I've found him? And even worse, what if I already have, I just can't have him? Still, Ginny never gets tongue tied, she can always make light of a bad situation, and she doesn't bad mouth people, at least not without a thoroughly legitimate reason.
3.) She's confident. If you ask me, this is the best quality anyone could have. She never walks around with her shoulders slumped; she always stands up straight, always smiles, and is always very friendly to everyone. I think this is why everyone likes her, aside from all the other reasons. She always gives everyone the sense that they are special. She does have a fiery side to her, and she can be mean if she wants to be, but I'd like to see if you can find a more decent human being than Ginny Weasley.
2.) She has the world's most perfect boyfriend. That's the one thing I could never tell her; I'm in love with her boyfriend. Six foot four, perfectly muscular, platinum blonde hair, silvery turquoise eyes, and a totally hot tough guy attitude. One thing's for sure, if he ever looked at me like he looks at Ginny, I would melt.
Yes, it's true. I, Leandra Conner, am inexplicably, unfortunately, completely, and hopelessly in love with my best friend Ginny Weasley's boyfriend - Draco Malfoy.
1.) So I wouldn't have to be me.
Author notes: I wrote this on the plane on my way back from los angeles several months ago. i have to say that this idea came out of nowhere. i've been holding onto it for quite some time now, and i'm glad to finally be revealing the prologue. the first chapter will be coming very very soon, i hope. just doing some minor editing, and making sure that everything makes sense. now, click on the pretty red link below and tell me what you think! thank you! :)
