The Circle of Endless Confusion

By: Princess Amorina Weasley

Chapter 5: Secrets Revealed

"Mmm.." Ron sighed as Hermione sat down next to him. "Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, well sort of. No, not really. Ron, I love you more than anything in this world," she said, looking up into his eyes filled with love and resentment.

"I love you more than anything too, Hermione," he said and interrupted her with a kiss.

"I wish we could do that all the time," she said, smiling.

"Me too," he said with a grin. "We can soon enough."

"I hope so. Ron, can you promise me that you'll listen to me and not completely fly off the handle."

"What's going on, Hermione?" he asked, frowning. His eyes were filled with concern.

"Ron, the night that Harry came over something happened. My Muggle friends spiked the punch and when we got home we kind of accidentally, you know."

"Bloody hell, Hermione! How do you accidentally do that?" he asked, jumping up.

"Ron, it didn't mean anything because I love you and Harry loves Draco."

"So was Halloween night, was it guilt? Are you marrying me because you feel guilty?" he asked quietly with a tear running down his cheek and his face starting to match his hair.

She walked over to him and caressed his face. "No! I love you and I wanted you that night. I want you to belong to me forever, I want to wake up next to you every morning and go through all life's ups and downs with you. I want to marry you. You have to believe me, Ron. It's true."

"Wait a second!" he exclaimed, pulling away. "Is it mine? Is the baby mine?"

"I don't think so. I mean no, it's not. I'm almost three months along."

"No, I can't. I can't do this. Hermione everybody's going to know that it's not mine. Everyone's going to know that it's Harry's baby. Does he know?" he asked as he paced around the room, fidgeting incessantly.

"Yes, he does. He knows. He doesn't want it to be true any more than I do, but it is. We can't fix this but we can live with it, me and you. I promise I didn't do it to hurt you and I didn't do it because I love Harry. We were drunk and stupid, we weren't thinking about anything, obviously. Harry's my friend but I could never love anyone as much as I love you, Ron Weasley. I want nothing more than to marry you and share a wonderful life. And if I did something to screw that up, I don't think I could live with myself," she said, walking over to him and grabbing his arm.

He stopped pacing and looked into her eyes. Tears spilled out of both of their eyes and he kissed her cheek gently. "I've got to go, Hermione. I can't be here right now. I need some air," he said, pulling away from her and going out the door.

She stood there looking like she'd been stupefied, then suddenly tears started to stream down like rain from her sad brown eyes.

Later after dinner, which Hermione didn't go to, she heard a soft knock on her door and a soft, female voice say, "Hermione?"

"Come in," she called.

"Hi," Ginny said, walking in and sitting on the end of Hermione's bed. "How are you doing?"

"Pretty lousy, yourself?" she responded rudely. "I'm sorry, Ginny. I didn't mean to be rude. Things aren't going well."

"Yeah, I kind of figured that. I saw Ron, he looked devastated. I thought he would be happy to find out that he's going to be a daddy. Sorry I told him," she said, looking apologetic.

"Ginny," Hermione replied and leaned up to hug the girl she regarded as her only true, female friend. "Doll, it's not your fault. And, actually, Ron was happy when he thought he was going to be a daddy."

"Thought he was going to be a daddy?" Ginny asked, confused.

"Ginny, I love your brother with all my heart."

"I know, Hermione. He loves you too. I love you and all, but I kind of get tired of hearing your name at home," Ginny said, smiling.

Hermione smiled, "Yeah my parents get tired of Ron's too. But, Ron's not my baby's father."

"What?!" Ginny exclaimed. "Hermione, what are you talking about?"

"You know how I invited your brother to come to my Muggle friend's birthday party right before school started?"

"Yea, he told you Mom said he couldn't come. That was partly true but mostly he had to go and pick out your ring," Ginny said. "But obviously that's over."

"I hope not. Anyway, the thing is some kids spiked the punch and me and Harry ended up sleeping together. I'm almost three months along and me and Ron didn't do anything until Halloween night. I don't want to lose your brother, Ginny, but I don't see how he could ever forgive me," Hermione replied, starting to cry again.

"I think he might be able too. I can't believe he would give up on you, he loves you too much. It'll take him awhile to get over this because, well this is a big thing and he's pretty torn up right now. His pride and his heart are both broken. But, eventually I think you two will get married and be happy. He might even accept the baby as his own. Then again, he is stubborn. I'll talk to him if you want me too," Ginny said, sitting closer to Hermione and trying her hardest to comfort her.

"I don't know if it would help, but thank you for the offer. You're the only girl I've ever trusted, Ginny. I was looking forward to you being my sister, now it might all be lost."

"I don't think so. Won't you come down to the common room, Hermione? You've been stuck up in this room all day long."

"I guess I can do that. Is Ron down there?"

"No. But before we go I would like to tell you something. You have to promise not to tell my brother," Ginny said, her face getting a little pink.

"I doubt that's an option right now anyway. So what is it?"

"I am. Well I think I'm in trouble," she stammered, standing up.

"How? Do you need help with your work or something, falling behind spending so much time with Colin?" Hermione said, smiling a little.

"No. Hermione, I think I'm pregnant too."

Hermione's eyes got big, "Ginny!! Are you sure? Oh no, how long?"

"Well, you know we've been together almost as long as you and Ron. When we came back to school this year, we did it. I know it was stupid, but I really care about Colin. Because of my obsession with Harry I never really liked another guy but also because of it I met Colin. He's a great guy, he didn't pressure me, just one thing led to another, you know. I was just too scared to say anything, then when I found out you were pregnant, well I figured I would have to tell someone, so I wanted it to be you."

"Wow! Umm, your mom's going to go crazy isn't she? She's going to lose her mind, although my situation will probably keep her sane enough to want to kill me. But like Ron said your family is very susceptible to conception. It's like you do it once and bam you're pregnant, every time. I'll go with you to Madam Pompfrey in the morning if you want."

"Yeah, I would like that. I'm really scared Hermione. I love Colin, but I think he might leave me because of the baby. I'd get rid of it but that's illegal in the wizarding world."

"Ginny, don't talk like that. Never talk like that. I know you're scared right now, but you care about Colin, so you will care about this baby. Even if he's not in the picture, you wouldn't want to kill the baby. Come here," she said, pulling Ginny to her. "It's going to be okay. If Colin does leave you, well, then he wasn't right for you, but I don't think he will."

"I hope not," Ginny said, wiping her tears away.

"Let's go downstairs," Hermione said, standing up and walking to the door.
