Rose

Rose Weasley was the complete clone of her mother from her slightly bushy hair and deep brown eyes to her brains and personality. The only difference of course was that her hair was the fiery red hair of a Weasley. This was the only physical trait she had inherited from her father. She had also, however, inherited his wicked sense of humour. This was why she got on so well with Scorpius Malfoy. This was also why she dreaded coming to Hogwarts each year. Malfoy.

He looked just like his father, but was kind and compassionate. Strangely, he was still sorted into Slytherin like his father and grandfather before him.

"You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might just belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

If you've a ready mind,

Where those of will and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folk use any means

To achieve their ends."

Oh, he was cunning alright. He had tricked Rose into loving him, not that she would ever allow herself to admit it to him, or even herself. She had promised her father that she would stay clear of Malfoy and Rose was a girl of her word. But Scorpius refused to give up without a fight.

--

It was Care of Magical Creatures that day with Professor Hagrid. Not that Rose called him "Professor" though. It was just too weird. She was friends with Hagrid, just like her younger brother, Hugo, and older cousins were. It was also rather funny being in Hagrid's classes. As usual, Rose had to stifle her giggles as Hagrid cooed over Blast-Ended Skrewts and other such creatures. Then his assistant, Madam Maxime, would begin flirting with him, which would make Rose giggle even more. On this particular day, she was laughing so hard that she didn't realise that Scorpius had been staring at her for a very long time. When she did finally spot him out of the corner of her eye, she began to frown. "Quit it, Malfoy!" she hissed at him.

He laughed and waggled his eyebrows at her. Noticing her mouth twitch slightly, he took his advantage and asked: "Why, Weasley?" emphasizing her last name. Unable to think of an answer, she sighed and turned away. Why did he have to be so god damn cute?

Once the lesson was over, Rose approached Hagrid, planning on questioning him on today's lesson. Scorpius hung behind, watching. Rose rolled her eyes. Why couldn't he just leave her be? He grinned at her and continued to wait. She ignored him as best she could and tapped Hagrid on the elbow. "Hagrid..?" she began. "Can I ask you something?" Hagrid turned around and smiled gently at the young Gryffindor.

"Just a sec please, Rosie!" Rose stiffened at the nickname. Her brother called her that to get to her, but as Hagrid did not know this, she let it go and smiled back. Hagrid wondered off and was gone for quite a while. Worried, Rose went in the direction he had headed in. What she found was rather unexpected...

There was Hagrid behind the greenhouse, with his arms wrapped around Madam Maxime. It looked really quite odd as Hagrid could not get his arms round the large woman, so their embrace didn't look quite right. Then they were kissing and whispering and Rose began to feel ever so slightly sick. But Scorpius (who had followed her, naturally) was clearly enjoying himself. His eyes danced mischievously and he snorted with laughter. Hagrid let go of Madam Maxime and turned around, very surprised. "Excuse me, sir?" said Scorpius. Hagrid went bright red and opened him mouth to say something but before he could, Scorpius blurted out: "Save some for me!"

Hagrid went even redder and Rose could see that this time it was from anger. Scorpius laughed gleefully and turned on his heel to run away. Rose giggled. Then she ran after him, leaving a very annoyed Hagrid. "COME BACK HERE, MALFOY!" he roared. Scorpius ran faster and rose quickened her pace, gasping or breath. As they turned the corner, they heard him shout: "YOU LITTLE TOERAG!" This made them fall about laughing.

Suddenly, Rose remembered who she was with. "That was very wrong of you, Malfoy! I can't believe..." but he interrupted her with a soft yet passionate kiss.

She made to pull away, but he wrapped his arms around her waist. She found that she was actually enjoying it, so she returned the kiss. Her heart sang but the kiss was over much too soon for her liking.

Scorpius stared down at her, still in his arms and whispered: "Surely we're on first name basis now, Rose?" he asked, smiling. For the first time ever, Rose beamed at him.

"Yes," she whispered back. "I guess we are!"

--

Later that night, Rose called her parents. It was her father who she spoke to. "Dad," she began bravely. "I'm in love with Scorpius Malfoy. He loves me too and, um... and we're going out!" she said in a rush. For a long time there was silence. "Dad?" she muttered. Then he exploded.

"YOU AND MALFOY WHAT?!" Rose squirmed at the anger in his voice. Then there was a pause and she heard a petrified squeak before her father finally said: "That's lovely, dear. Your mother is very... Okay, Hermione! We are very happy for you!" Then they said their goodbyes and Rose laughed. Her mother must have given him The Look.
