"What?" Lucius asked, gripping the doorway in disbelief.
Lily sighed. "I love you," she said, and thankfully he did not pick up on the half-heartedness of her words.
"You said that you loved someone else." Lucius narrowed his eyes in suspicion and gripped the doorway of the common room tighter, making his knuckles white. He didn´t want to be the butt of a joke.
"Well, I thought about it and realized...the `someone else´ was you." Lily livened up a bit as she started to get into her role. "And I knew I had to come here before it was too late."
"Okay." Lucius said with a grin. "You can come in, in that case."
Lily stepped up a little into the Slytherin common room and settled herself on a couch, taking in her surroundings. There were gray stone walls, a black marble fireplace, green carpeting, and black leather sofas and armchairs.
"Do you want something to drink?" Lucius asked pleasantly.
"Sure," Lily replied. "What do you have?"
"Anything you like. There are house elves."
"I´ll just have a glass of water, I guess."
Lucius snapped his fingers and a house elf ran up with a tall water glass and disappeared just as quickly as it had come. Lily picked the glass up gently and Lucius sat down next to her on the sofa. Lily fidgeted a little, still slightly uncomfortable around Lucius. He´d been her friend forever, and now...well...it was different now, because Lucius wasn´t her best friend anymore. Now he was her boyfriend and if something went wrong Lily could lose the whole thing.
"So..." Lily nodded her head as if listening to music as she said this, searching for something to lift the awkwardness.
"Uh...how´s...um...shit, there´s nothing to talk about is there?" Lucius laughed and slowly slipped his arm around Lily´s shoulders. Lily quickly glanced sideways at him and stared at her water glass, pretending it was fascinating.
"You know, I really should be going." Lily spoke quickly and jumped up before Lucius could say anything. "Thanks for the water."
And Lily left the Slytherin common room. Standing outside, she leaned against a wall, breathing heavily and wondering what she had gotten herself into.
The next morning all the school could talk about was how Lily and Lucius had gotten together. The story went from them holding hands in the common room to Lily being pregnant now, although the latter rumor only came from one person, whom Lily slapped upside the head for acting like such a fruit.
"Hi Lily."
Lily turned around to find Lucius standing behind her, a bouquet of chrysanthemums in his hand. He gave them to Lily and she got up from the table, blushing.
"Lucius, thank you," she said, and smiled.
"Since it´s Saturday, do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me and some friends later today, at seven?" Lucius asked, slipping his hand into Lily´s. Lily, although wanting to take her hand away and spit on it to clean it off, let him keep it there. They began to walk around the grounds.
"Sure." Lily answered. "Who´s going?"
"Narcissa LeBlanc, Severus Snape, that group."
Lily winced inwardly at this, but all the same smiled and said that it would be great.
Later that night, Lily sat up in her room, ready to go to Hogsmeade.
"I don´t want to leave my room!" Lily said angrily, turning her back to the door. What she didn´t realize was that someone had come into the room.
"Why not?" asked a deep voice.
Lily spun around to see James Potter standing in her room, leaning casually against a table. Lily choked, for the person she really loved was James.
"Uh, just because," Lily replied quickly.
"Oh." James said.
"Yes." Lily finished, trying to close the conversation.
"Lily, do you really love Lucius?"
"That was random, James."
"Stop trying to change the subject. Do you love him or not?"
"Why are you asking me this?"
"Just answer me."
"Okay, fine. On your life, you won´t tell?"
"Yes, on my life."
"No. I don´t love him."
"Then who do you love?" James moved closer to Lily and sat on the bed next to her.
"Why should I say?"
"Because I asked you. We´re friends, aren´t we? Can´t you trust me?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Come on." James slipped his arm around Lily´s shoulders in a friendly way.
"Fine. I love you. Happy now?" Lily was in tears and swatted his hand, trying to move it away. She looked the other way, but James grabbed her chin and turned it so that she had to face him.
"Lily, I love you too. Why can´t you just leave Lucius and go with me, then?"
"Because, James. It´s not right. I told him I loved him, I can´t just leave him like that."
"Then go with both of us." James leaned towards Lily and kissed her on the lips. She slowly put her arms around his shoulders and kissed him back. The two kissed for a little more, leaning back on Lily´s bed. Then Lily pulled away.
"I really should be going now. Bye, James."
She slipped out of the room and shut the door behind her.
