~* You were my sun

You were my earth.

But you didn´t know all the ways I loved you.

No. *~

"Did you hear?"

"Yes, I heard. Now shut up, Mallory."

Lily Evans ran down the hallway in despair. Everything she had thought before today seemed wrong. So wrong.

"Lily?"

"Go away, Lucius. I don´t feel comfortable around you anymore. Can´t you see that?"

A few hours before, Lucius Malfoy had sat down next to Lily Evans and told her that he loved her. Lily sat right down, clean in the middle of the hallway, and remembered it.

Lily lazily laid her head back against the tree and stared up at the cloudless sky. Today it was as blue as a robin´s egg. She pushed some loose strands of fiery auburn hair behind her ear and picked at the grass.

"Hi Lily.Am I disturbing you?" Lucius Malfoy asked. He had just walked up to her and was presently sitting down.

"No, not at all.So how was your day?" Lily asked nonchalantly. She considered Lucius her friend and was really comfortable around him.

"Horrible," Lucius replied, "because I had to come and talk to you and couldn´t seem to find you amongst all the people in the castle. Lily, I love you. You´re my sun and earth."

Lily jolted up, smacking her head against the rough fibers of the tree bark.

"Ow! What?" Lily asked, rubbing her head. The seriousness of what Lucius had just said hadn´t sunk in.

"Maybe this will help," Lucius whispered. He leaned in and kissed her passionately on the lips.

Taken aback, Lily backed towards the lake, now on her feet. Lucius stood up also, startling Lily and she fell into the lake.

"Lucius...I don´t love you. I love someone else, and you know that. Please tell me this is a joke." Lily was close to tears as these words left her lips and seemed to hang in the air.

But Lily could tell by the sharp glint of hurt in his silvery eyes and the twitching of Lucius´ mouth in his pallid face spoke for him: no, it was not a joke.

A single tear rolled down Lily´s cheek. She turned and ran.

~* But you took a chance

Made other plans.

But I bet you didn´t think that they would come crashing down.

No! *~

And now Lily was sitting in a corridor, alone and left to ponder what Lucius had told her. She bit her lip, staring ahead, as her eyes slowly filled up with tears that threatened to well over and come pouring out. She knew that Lucius loved her, his eyes spelled out clearly that he was not playing. But what was his motive for telling her all of the sudden? Had she done something inadvertently that said, Hey, I like you, want to go out?

"Let´s see," Lily said aloud, ticking off the past week on her fingers and mouthing some of the events. "No...no...DEFINITELY not, that doesn´t say anything...no...oh, wait, did this say something? Oh, shit, I did act like a flirt that day. But why didn´t I pick up on his...er...feelings before?"

A girl, Narcissa LeBlanc, stalked down the hallway. She glared at Lily, and Lily glared at her. Sometimes she wished she looked like Narcissa: long, perfectly straight white-blonde hair, long, skinny legs, a perfectly short skirt, a nice chest...she looked like a model in Hogwarts´ uniform.

Lily snapped out of her pondering and tried to clear her mind. But something kept eating at the corners of her mind...Lucius. His handsome face would somehow find its way into every vision she had; every time she shut her eyes his face would be there. Then it struck Lily, like a dagger to the heart: she was sort of crushing on him.

To Lily, this was big news. She didn´t like to make people sad, so she could go out with him, and she could still check out James Potter...since it was only a crush, after all. Lily didn´t know how hurtful this could be to someone, since she rarely thought about things like that.

So Lily boldly tromped up to the Slytherin common room and rapped on the door.

"Lucius! I love you! Come out now!" she bellowed at the slab of rock that served as their door.

The common room door slowly slid back, and there stood Lucius Malfoy, staring in disbelief at Lily Evans.
