o my my
Your body
Foreshortened
Below
Your shoulders
Your face
So close
That it's out of focus
And way down
The hallway
Comes the sound
Of your shoes
And that is what I think about
When I think about you
Ginny heard him before she saw him. She heard the soft padding of his shoes as they climbed the stairs of their apartment building, then six doors down the hall, stopping outside of 7B. Her breath caught in her throat and her heart pounded. It was him. It was really him, after so long. He had come home.
She was sitting very straight upon the bed in their bedroom, listening to him quietly open the door in the next room over. He didn't want to wake her if she was sleeping. She could hardly contain herself as the doorknob to their bedroom creaked and a sliver of light fell upon her dancing eyes, and, seeing that she was awake, he flung the door open the rest of the way.
Tears of joy were already streaming down Ginny's face even before he drew her to him, even before that first blissful kiss.
And what a kiss it was. It was the best thing she ever tasted, and when he softly pulled away, her hands flew to his face, feeling the familiar features of his cheeks, jaw, and forehead. She noticed quietly a new scar about four inches long by his left ear, and a scrape above his right eye, but he was still Draco. Even after six months of battle, he was still her Draco.
And if we let our love off of its leash
Do you fear, like I fear
How fierce it would be?
"Oh, Draco," she breathed, burying her head into his neck. "It's been so long."
Draco held her and rocked her, feeling her cold tears slide down his neck, and feeling his own lie on his cheeks. "Shhhh," he whispered. "It's ok now. I'm here."
Ginny nodded numbly, choking on a dry sob. He stroked her fiery red hair, an arm around her waist to hold her on his lap until she calmed down. Lifting her eyes up to meet his, Draco closed in for the second kiss and Ginny pushed herself onto her knees, her hands tight around his neck and one of his rested lightly on her stomach, the other supporting her head.
Yes, this was what Ginny had waited six months for. It was worth it.
Your headlights
Sweeping
Across my ceiling
The breadth of my smile
Now the depth of my feeling
Way down in my dark life
A shaft of your light
Shines through
And that is what I think about
When I think about you
And then they could kiss no more; their smiles were too wide. So they had sex. Wonderful, perfect sex, and when they were done, they lay in bed together, not ready to take their eyes off of each other, and they talked.
"Were you scared?" Ginny asked quietly, watching him trace a finger around her bare shoulder and up and down her arm.
"Yes," Draco replied simply, moving to her chin and right ear and cheek.
"I was scared for you," she whispered back to him, goose bumps on her skin from the way he was lining her lips and nose.
"I know," he replied. "But nothing will happen to me anymore. Not for now, at least. So don't be scared. I'm here with you."
"Draco..." Ginny whispered gently, and caught his hand to kiss it. "Please don't leave me again."
Draco just kissed her again, hands running up and down her smooth, arched back. "I love you," he said when they had broken the kiss. She was wrapped in his arms, surrounded by him. Ginny would not have to be alone tonight, and with that thought, she drifted to a dream-filled sleep.
And if we let our love off of its leash
Do you fear, like I fear
How fierce it would be?
