Hermione lay quietly on her bed. She had just arrived at Hogwarts. She had been sorted into Gryffindor house, the house she wanted to be in; the house the great Dumbledore himself was in. She hadn't become friends with anyone yet, but there was a red haired boy who was also in Gryffindor who she was rather fond of though, but he didn't seem anywhere near interested in her. His named was Ronald -or, rather, Ron- Weasley.

She reached over to her bedside table and grabbed a rather thin, dark-coloured book -her diary. She opened it and started writing.

Dear Diary,

Today I saw a boy,

And I wonder if he noticied me,

He took my breath away.

It was rather short, but it was enough. She didn't want to write his name, just in case one of her room mates, what were their names? Parveti and Lavender came across it and read it. She put the diary away and snuggled into her new, scarlet laid bed.

Hermione woke early next morning and Ron was on her mind once more. She grabbed her diary again and added to it,

Dear Diary,

I can't get him off my mind,

And it scares me 'cause I've never felt this way.

No one in this world, knows me better then you do,

So Diary, I'll confide in you.

She studied the page and was satisfied. She loved her diary entries; they were always simple and never told too much.

She got up, dressed in her new school robes and headed down to breakfast early. She was halfway through eating her porridge, when Ron entered with the famous Harry Potter, who was obviously his best friend, and took a seat not far from hers, muttering cruel words about a Slytherin kid named Malfoy. Hermione studied him. His red hair mixed with the freckles, made him look so cute. He had obviously felt her gaze on him, because he turned and looked at her and smiled. Hermione froze with shock and embarrassment (she didn't know why she was embarrassed), unable to smile back.

She grabbed her bag and walked out of the Great Hall and up to Gryffindor tower and her dormitory, where she got out her diary and wrote down quickly what she had just experienced.

Dear Diary,

Today I saw that boy,

As he walked by, I thought he smiled, at me,

And I wonder, does he know what's in my heart?

I tried to smile but I could hardly breathe.

Should I tell him how I feel?

Or would that scare him away?

Diary, tell me what to do,

Please tell me what to say.

She finished writing and examined the entry. Sure he wasn't walking by when he smiled, he was sitting, but does that really matter? Of course it doesn't.

Many diary entries later, it was Halloween. Ron had teased her and she had spent most of the day and the evening in the girls' bathroom, crying, but when the huge, smelly Mountain Troll came, he and Harry were there and saved her. Ron had saved her! Then afterwards, they both became her friend, with a soft squeeze of the hand and she again wrote in her diary.

Dear Diary,

One touch of his hand

Now I can't wait to see that boy again,

He smiled and I thought my heart could glide,

Diary do you thing that we'll be more then friends?

I've got a feeling we'll be so much more then friends.

"One day," Hermione whispered, closing her diary and putting it away. "One day, we will."

Author notes: Pretty crap, I know, I wrote this about 10 months ago, but when I came across it in my desk drawer I thought I might post it. There's a sequel, but that needs re-writing, 'cause it's even crappier then this.

As some may have noticed, the diary entries put together is the song Dear Diary by Britney Spears and is off her Oops!...I did it again! album (and is the only song I like on that album.)

Hermione's kinda out of character, and Ron is a little bit to, but as I said, I wrote this a fairly long time ago.

Despite the crappiness of it, I hope you enjoyed. Review please!

Cheers,

~Trident.
