Never Listen to a Word I Say

She turned to Sirius. "So, ready to tell me who the lucky girl is?"

Sirius didn't say anything. Instead he leaned forward, his lips gently brushing hers as he kissed her.

This marked the beginning of their relationship.

Valeri gasped at the first touch of his lips on hers, but melted into the kiss, closing her blazing green eyes.

Slowly, reluctantly, they drew apart. Sirius grinned at Valeri with his famous smile.

"Yes," Valeri whispered.

Sirius cocked his head. "Yes what?"

"Yes I'll go out with you."

Sirius laughed, soon joined by Valeri.

By now, being two weeks since changing herself and kissing Sirius, Valeri was getting quite annoyed at the castle's male students, staring at her every time she showed up. The only one who made her comfortable was Sirius, and, whenever he was around and the boys looked at her, he'd go tell them off. This time it was not the case.

Valeri started out the day walking with Sirius, but he went to play a prank on Snape, and she said she'd find Lily. She walked the corridor alone, feeling her good mood ebb away as she saw various boys watching her.

She had enough and hid herself behind a statue of a forlorn witch, making sure she was well hidden. She started relaxing, glad she was away from any eyes, when she heard Sirius's voice.

"What now?"

Next came a female voice. Jessica's.

"How was your week?" she said.

"Pretty good, actually." Sirius replied.

Valeri was getting confused. What did he mean?

"So you ready to get back together?"

Valeri arched an eyebrow, wondering what on earth was going on. She heard Sirius sigh.

"I don't know what gave you that idea, but we're never getting back together."

She heard Jessica laugh, then her footsteps, "We had a deal"

Valeri was feeling hurt and anger rise within her...she walked out from behind the statue, leaning at its base and looking at Jessica and Sirius
"Had a deal, huh? On what? How long until I can be used?"

Sirius was shaking his head, glaring angrily at Jessica. "There was never a deal. We're not getting back together."

"Oh yes there was Sirius" Jessica said, almost immediately.
Valeri's eyes flashed, and she stormed off up the corridor, wanting to get anywhere but right there.

Sirius watched after Valeri for a moment before rounding on Jessica. "You are such a liar. You know there was no deal and you know that you were snogging that stupid Ravenclaw weeks back. Get a life and leave me alone." he said before running off after Valeri.

Jessica grinned evilly after Sirius.

Valeri stopped running and leaned against a wall, sliding down to the bottom, feeling her eyes become hot and wet. She saw Sirius catch up, kneeling in front of her, his breathing heavy.

"Val, tell me you don't believe her." he said, taking her hands off her face and holding them in his.

Valeri looked into his eyes, her own sparkling, and then said, "Deal. You had a deal with her?"

Sirius shook his head. "No, there was no deal. I haven't seen her since the day we got together...right before you came up to the dorm."

Valeri rolled her eyes and looked up the corridor.
Sirius dropped her hands. "You don't believe me?"

"Sirius...I want to believe you, but being that you were just in her arms, it's kind of hard to trust you...I guess I just....don't know if you truly love me" she said, looking back at him, the hurt sounding in her voice.

Sirius felt his heart sink, and he swallowed hard, his own eyes starting to glisten with tears. "I love you...and I am starting to believe Jessica was sent to make my life a living hell at Hogwarts."

Valeri's eyes let out one single tear that fell down to his left hand..."I love you, honestly...and yes Jessica was sent to make your life a living hell, if that's what you call it" and she got up, starting to walk away.
Sirius stood and ran after her, cutting her off. "Val, you know she's a liar, you've known it even before me, I think. If we both just stop believing anything she says we won't have a problem. Give me Veritaserum, if you want...but you're the first thing that's gone right for me in awhile."

Valeri stood there looking at him, and then suddenly kissed him, wrapping her arms around him, tears leaking down her face.
