Harry had gotten off the Hogwarts Express and spotted Uncle Vernon beyond the barrier of platform 9 ¾. It was the end of Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts and Harry was going "home" to Privet Drive with Uncle Vernon.
As Harry got into the family car, Uncle Vernon said gruffly, "Your aunt has very exciting news to tell you when you get home." Harry couldn't imagine anything exciting happen in Aunt Petunia's life, unless Dudley lost 100 pounds, but that probably hadn't happened.
Aunt Petunia "greeted" Harry at the door. If Dudley lost 100 pounds, it sure was transferred to Aunt Petunia's stomach.
"Good news, Harry. I'm eight months pregnant. It's due in July," she said.
Harry couldn't believe his ears of his eyes. Another baby to share Dudley's limelight. How does Dudley feel? Oh, shut up you prat you should be happy that Dudley will no longer be the center of attention.
"July, eh? Maybe it'll come sooner. Well, congratulations!" he answered.
***************************************************
The next few weeks of Aunt Petunia complaining and being very immobile was not fun for Harry. He was forced to do Aunt Petunia's work on top of his normal manual labor.
Dudley was not happy about the baby. Dudley would no longer be the center of attention.
The day finally came, and Petunia Dursley gave birth to a baby girl named Elizabeth.
****************************************************
The years went on, and Harry occasionally saw his Muggle relatives. Eleven years passed since Elizabeth's birth, and Harry was invited to her eleventh birthday party.
Elizabeth was astonishingly different from the rest of the Dursleys. She had auburn hair like Harry's mother, and actually liked Harry. Something in the air around Elizabeth always made Harry feel comfortable and loved when he was in her presence.
Harry brought his witch girlfriend, Ginny Weasley, to Elizabeth's party. The evening was rather uncomfortable because Harry was not used to being in a roomful of boring and disapproving Muggle adults, so naturally, Harry and Ginny stayed in the kids' area of the party.
"Ugh, Ginny, I'm so sorry I brought you here, it's too boring. You can leave if you want, I'll probably leave after we have cake," Harry said.
"I can leave? Wow, I never thought you would let me leave you here all alone! I'll see you later." Ginny gave Harry a quick kiss and went into the backyard to Disapparate.
"Harry! Are you having fun?" Elizabeth asked, bounding over to Harry's lonely couch. Harry realized that the Muggles were starting to leave and other parents were picking up their kids.
"What a blast," Harry said smiling, hoping she wouldn't hear his sarcasm.
"Tell me, what were you like when you were eleven? Did anything good happen?" she asked excitedly.
"Things beyond your wildest dreams happened to me, but I can't tell you yet, your Mummy and Daddy wouldn't like for you to know about my life," he responded.
"It's really annoying how overprotective they are. It's like they're trying to hide me from something they have no control over..." she said.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, and Elizabeth asked her favorite question.
"Harry, how did you get that scar on your forehead?"
Harry's expression changed into nervousness, as it always did when she asked about his scar.
"I, uhh, umm...I fell off Dudley's bike when I was a kid."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and said, "Last time you didn't see a baseball coming."
"I don't even remember how I got it, if you must know," he said, deliberately lying. Seeing her face, he continued, "even if I told you, you wouldn't understand." He looked away with a worried look on his face. He was always sensitive about that scar, and Elizabeth couldn't figure out why. Elizabeth knew that Harry lived with her parents when he was a child because his parents died in a car crash when he was a baby. She was warned never to talk about this with Harry.
Harry checked his watch and stood up. "I, uh, should leave now. I hope you had a nice birthday." They hugged, he ruffled her hair, and Harry went into the backyard.
"Wait, Harry, you forgot your..." Elizabeth looked around, but Harry was nowhere in sight. "...jacket."
***************************************************
Harry reluctantly went to the Dursleys the next morning to retrieve his jacket, and by Elizabeth's request, he stayed for breakfast.
The sound of mail falling on the doormat occurred, so Elizabeth went to get it. She looked through the mail and she smiled when she saw her letter. Harry happened to look up and he dropped his fork in disbelief. Elizabeth's letter was made out of yellowish parchment with green ink. It also had the Hogwarts' crest.
Vernon looked up when Harry dropped his fork, and followed Harry's gaze. His eyes widened in fear and shock. He stumbled out of his chair, grabbed the letter from his daughter's hands, and ushered her out of the room. He swiveled on his feet and faced Harry. It looked like Aunt Petunia was about to cry.
"You-you-what did you do to her?" Vernon shouted.
"I didn't..." Harry tried to respond.
"How could you do this? How could she be-abnormal-like you?!"
"Uncle Vernon..."
"We brought her up normally! We offered her everything to be happy, and now she's--one of your people!"
"If you would just..."
"Contact whoever--controls these letters--and tell them that she is not--a witch!"
"CAN YOU PLEASE CALM DOWN?! Now listen you two, some people, such as myself and Elizabeth, have magical blood. Witches or wizards that are born into non-magical families, like Elizabeth, do not find out that they are magical until the summer of their eleventh birthday. They find out because the upcoming school year will be their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hogwarts does not take no for an answer, if you remember the summer of my eleventh birthday when we got all those letters. I say that you should honor her magical gift, and love her as you normally would," Harry calmly and happily said.
"But-but what about that crazy Weldeman guy..."
"I defeated Lord Voldemort years ago, and he can never come back. His followers are either dead or in wizard prison, so there is no need to fear them."
Seeing that his aunt and uncle were not about to interrupt him, he continued.
"You need to be supportive of your only daughter. She is about to go on and live in a separate world that you are not a part of. So please, make Elizabeth happy. Respect the kind of person she will be."
At that moment, Dudley walked into the kitchen.
"Morning! What happened? What's the matter?" he asked urgently, grabbing a doughnut.
"Your sister is a witch. She's going to Harry's old school," Petunia answered. Dudley fainted and fell to the floor with a shattering thud.
Elizabeth couldn't believe her luck. She was a witch! According to Harry, who was a wizard, things were very different in the wizarding world from the "Muggle World", as he called it. She would finally learn about Harry's life, and she would be a part of it because she was now a magical person.
Harry took Elizabeth to his flat for the first time the day she got her letter. Elizabeth found out that Harry Apparates to go places, but since she was an underage witch she didn't have her Apparating license. Therefore, they took Muggle transportation to get to his home. Elizabeth met Harry's best friends and roommates, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. She found out that Harry's girlfriend was his best friend's younger sister.
Harry explained that he was a freelance racing broom designer, and that many major Quidditch teams used his brooms.
"What's Quidditch? Is it a sport?" Elizabeth asked curiously.
Harry launched into explanations of all the plays, players, balls, and rules of Quidditch. He also said it's fun and thrilling to play, and that he was Seeker for his House team at Hogwarts. He also explained the Four Houses.
They went into a magnificent white building called Gringotts, which was the wizarding bank. Harry explained everything about Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts. He traded the Muggle money that Vernon gave him and they set out to explore Diagon Alley. She bought all of her supplies and her wand, a 10 ¾ inches, maple, single hair from a unicorn's tail. Harry brought her into Quality Quidditch Supplies and ran around excitedly, pointing out the brooms he made and other Quidditch gear.
Elizabeth heard footsteps approaching them, and she turned her head just in time to hear a lazy drawl say,
"So Potter, I see that you've found yourself a new girlfriend? Weasley was too good for yu, wasn't she?" Liz thought this blonde man struck a nerve, but both Harry and this stranger started laughing.
"Draco, your jokes never change, do they? This is my cousin, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, this is my close friend Draco Malfoy, and he was in Slytherin House. Funnily enough, we were quite unfriendly during our school days. Elizabeth got her letter from Hogwarts today, Draco," Harry said proudly.
"A Dursley being a witch? But she looks to nice to be a Dursley! See, that's why wizards are better than Muggles..." Draco said.
"Draco, Elizabeth loves her family very much, and wizards and Muggles are both good and bad, if you remember?" Harry said, giving Draco a stern look.
Harry turned to face Elizabeth. "Well, anyway, Draco will be your Potions master once you get to school, so you should call him Professor Malfoy. It was nice seeing you again, Drake...owl me later." They shook hands and Elizabeth and Harry walked out of the shop.
"What did you mean by 'owl me later'?" Elizabeth asked.
"Us wizards don't use telephones of the mail to communicate, so we use owl post. For example, when I was a kid at Hogwarts, I had a beautiful snowy owl named Hedwig. I used Hedwig to send letters, especially during the summers when I lived with your parents. So without further ado, I will buy you your very own owl, much to your parents' displeasure."
They walked into a crowded store called Eeylops' Owl Emporium, and twenty minutes later they walked out with a large eagle owl. Elizabeth thanked him multiple times, and went into Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, which was owned and founded by Ron and Ginny's older twin brothers, Fred and George. The joke shop was fairly empty, so Fred and George spotted Harry instantly, and quickly came over. They pretended to be Ginny by flirting, hugging, and pretending to kiss him, until they noticed Elizabeth standing timidly nearby.
"Now who is this young friend of dear Harry's? I'm Fred Weasley, and this is my handsome brother, George. We have the finest selections of..." one of the twins said.
"Fred! This is my cousin Elizabeth. She received her Hogwarts letter today," Harry said grinning.
"Oh, so you're the sister of Dudley Dursley? Did you know that your very own brother was the unofficial tester of our famous Ton Tongue Toffee? Invented in 1994 by these two smashing redheads you see here, the Ton Tongue Toffee has become a favorite to wizards..." the other twin said.
"George! I just wanted to buy some sugar roses for Ginny, and some much needed supplies," he winked at Elizabeth, "so that Elizabeth can become a lovable troublemaker," Harry said smiling.
The twins grinned at each other and started to run around and stuff things into Elizabeth's arms and explained how Dungbombs worked and explained the contents and aftermaths of some of their own devilish inventions.
After many Galleons spent at Fred and George's joke shop, they headed off to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Shop, where they met up with Ron, Hermione, and Ginny. Harry and Elizabeth informed the other three about what they did and wondered about what magical talents will be discovered in Elizabeth.
"So, Elizabeth, what do you think of the wizarding world so far? Is it weird? Is that a Muggle term?" Ron asked.
"I think that magical world is so fascinating! I thought witches and wizards and cauldrons were just stories! I still can't believe that an entire world is hidden from Muggles! And yes, 'weird' is a Muggle term," Liz answered.
"Get used to it, Elizabeth. I remember the day I got my letter! I was so surprised! Then I realized that I knew nothing about magic so that day I went to Flourish and Blotts in Diagon Alley and bought and studied all my textbooks through the whole summer," Hermione said.
Elizabeth stared at Hermione with a dumbfounded expression.
"Don't worry, Elizabeth, don't waste your summer. There will be plenty of time to study during the school year," Harry said reassuringly.
Harry ignored the quiet "hmmph!" from Hermione.
"So, Hermione," Harry said changing the subject, "how are those charms coming?"
"They're great, Harry. The charm to wake a Petrified creature will be a great advance in wizard medicine because the Mandrakes take too long to grow. My other charm that eliminates warts..." Hermione said.
"You're boring the poor girl, 'Mione! She just discovered her powers, don't bore her socks off about warts and things!" Ron exclaimed.
"Ron, not everyone can live in the wizarding world being an ignorant prat like you!" Hermione argued.
"What kid likes that rubbish? She needs to know about Dungbombs and Quidditch, not warts!" Ron continued as if he hadn't heard her.
"My work is not only about warts..."Hermione argued yet again.
"Uh, guys? Excuse me?" Harry interjected.
"Harry, can't you see they're obviously acting like an old married couple and they're not even engaged!?" Ginny said loudly.
That shut them up.
"So, Ginny, what do you do for a living?" Elizabeth asked curiously.
"I teach Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts, so maybe I'll have you as a student in your third year," Ginny answered.
Elizabeth nodded, and turned around when she heard a few squeals of delight. There were a few young women who were grinning at Harry and trying to catch his attention. Harry knew they were there but decided to ignore them. Ginny, Ron, and Hermione were silently laughing, and Harry was turning red with embarrassment and mild anger.
"Harry, do you know those ladies? Why are they so excited to see you if they don't know you?" Elizabeth asked. She heard bits of the girls' conversation, with quotes like "who knew a hero could be so cute in real life?" and "just ask for his autograph and let him be!".
Harry suddenly became very interested in the ceiling, and everyone at the table was quiet and staring at one another. Finally, the girls decided to leave without an autograph.
"You would think, after all these years, people would leave me alone. I defeated him for the first time twenty years ago and the second time almost ten years ago!" Harry said to no one in particular.
"Defeated who? You're famous?" Elizabeth asked.
The four adults exchanged looks that clearly said, "You haven't told her yet?" and "Harry, you moron, what are you waiting for? She has to know!"
"Elizabeth?" Harry finally said. "It's time you learn about my past, and the origin of my scar."
"My own cousin defeated the evilest sorcerer twice? Wow, good job, Harry!" Elizabeth exclaimed.
"Yes, but remember that I was just a baby the first time and there was a spell cast on me. The second time, Voldemort and I had a little "showdown" and I was just a tad bit more powerful than Voldie at the time," he said, winking at Ron and Hermione. "Well, look at the time! I should get this fine young witch back home before Aunt Petunia throws another frying pan at my head! I'll owl you guys later."
Elizabeth and Harry stood up and went into the Leaky Cauldron and then back into the Muggle world.
'This world looks very interesting. I hope I have a place in their society soon,' Elizabeth thought as she and Harry boarded the train back to Surrey.
'She'll do just fine," Harry thought. 'Just fine."
