Black Betrayal Part 1

It was his final year. After this he would be free to leave the Dursley's forever. But, it would also be completely chaotic and hectic. At least he no longer had a lifelong ban on Quidditch. That had been removed at the beginning of last year. 'I won't be old enough to live on my own until I turn 18. I wonder where I'll stay. I can't stay with the Weasleys; they've done way too much for me. I can't rely on them anymore. If he were still alive I'd stay with Sirius. But that damned Death Eater; Bellatrix Lestrange had to kill him.'

Harry was currently on his way to Platform 9¾. On his way to the secret entrance to the platform he bumped into someone. He looked up to see a witch with messy black hair and a lot of injuries. He would not have even known she was a witch had it not been for the wand in her hand. "Please...you have to help me," she begged. "I swear that I will not harm you or any of your friends but please Harry, you have to help me."

"Look, I'm really sorry lady but I don't have time," Harry said hurriedly. He glanced at his watch. It was ten minutes until the train left.

"Please...I can get you to Hogwarts safely if you like."

"Ok, how about you come on the train with me. You can get some food there and when we get to Hogwarts Madam Pomfrey can help you. There isn't much else I can do."

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" she cried happily.

"Come on," he mumbled. He headed towards the platform, not bothering to check whether or not the witch was following him. He figured that if she really wanted his help she would follow. The witch hurried to catch up to him. 'I'm glad he doesn't know who I am or he would most likely kill me. I suppose I shouldn't have killed Sirius. He was my cousin after all and he was always the funniest one in the family. Why did I ever go to Voldemort to begin with? Oh yeah, I wanted to get rid of the mudblood---muggle-borns. But Voldemort himself is part muggle. I wonder why I was so stupid?' Bellatrix sighed. After her failure in Harry's fifth year and the failures last year Voldemort had become fed up with her. He tortured her for hours on end. She had run in fear of her life. 'The least I can do to make up for all I have done is give them information and perhaps take care of Harry. Sirius was his guardian. Or was supposed to be.' She barely paid any attention as they got on the train. She heard Harry explain to his friends about her. And the Weasley kid telling Harry he was too sympathetic. The Mudblood---Muggle-born girl was reprimanding the Weasley for being a complete idiot and Harry for not even bothering to find out who I was.

"Um, I'm Hermione and this is Ron. We're Harry's friends. And um, what's your name?"

"Are you sure you want to know?" I ask bitterly.

"Yes," she replied firmly.

"Before I tell you, please do not do anything rash when I tell you. Please hear my story before you do anything stupid."

"Okay."

"I won't"

"Don't worry."

"Bellatrix Lest---Black." As I had suspected they would they all froze. They looked as though they wanted to kill me. They didn't though. I supposed Gryffindors really are noble because no Slytherin would have held back.

"Why didn't you use Lestrange?" was the first question. It was not one I had expected.

"Because Rudolphus is no longer my husband." After this I went on to tell them my story. "As you all know, at the end of your 5th year, the Death Eaters and myself went to get the prophecy. You know what happened there and you know how we failed. You also know that I was the only one that got away. So naturally I received everyone's punishment. I didn't care. I had failed so of course I would be punished. Last year, we attempted to get the centaurs on our side. I failed there too. Then I failed again at the end of last year. That was three times in a row that I had failed Voldemort and naturally he wasn't too pleased about it. Actually that's an understatement. He was furious about it. That's probably one too. Anyway, he has no use for Death Eaters who fail at everything. Even Wormtail doesn't fail at everything. So he decided to use me as an example. He tortured me for days on end, and not just using the Cruciatus curse. He used muggle methods as well. Ones that would leave permanent mark on me. He was going to kill me eventually. But Rudolphus would not stand for that. He would not put the indignity of having a wife that was murdered because she failed to do something on his family name. So he snuck me out of there. I thought that he might have actually cared about me for a while but the he told me that he had only done it to keep up his family name and that we were officially divorced. I realized that I pretty much had no hope. Voldemort and his followers would kill me if I went to them and the ministry would send me back to Azkaban where I would receive a Dementor's Kiss. Then I realized that Dumbledore might help me. I could give him information about the Dark Lord's plans. He would accept me. He had accepted Death Eaters that had switched sides before." I paused to think about what I would say next. This was a delicate subject I was about to go on but it needed to be covered. This had to be understood. "I wish I had not killed Sirius now. He might have accepted me. Probably not but he might have."

All was silent for about a minute before the talked. Unsurprisingly, the redhead, Ron looked furious. He glared at me with utmost hatred. "So you came to us. You thought that just because your Death Eater friends had abandoned you, we would accept you. You deserve to die with all you've done!"

"Um, Ron, don't you think we should give her a chance," Hermione said carefully. "If she wants to switch-"

"You're so naïve Hermione! Don't you see? She's gonna kill us as soon as we let our guard down!"

"And you're so immature Ron! You never give anyone a chance! Look at Snape. I may not like him much but he did switch sides. He even saved Harry's life once! Anyway, I think that Harry should decide what we do. Sirius was his godfather, not yours!"

I looked at Harry. He was the one who was to decide my fate. "I understand if you want to kill me," I muttered, "After all, I killed Sirius. The one person you cared most about."

He regarded me for about a minute before saying, "She lives."
