Dreams

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
that is how I know you go on.

Far across the distance
and spaces between us
you have come to show you go on.

Near, far,
wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.

Once more, you opened the door
and you're here in my heart,
and my heart will go on and on.

Love can touch us one time
and last for a lifetime
and never let go till we're gone.

Love was when I loved you,
one true time to hold on to
in my life we'll always go on.

She holds his hand in hers, and she doesn't let go. She looks back at him several times in the first minute. Her eyes start to fill with tears, and they glaze over, like they did on her wedding day, and again on the day that changed her life.

She holds his hand tighter has the second minute ticks by, and they move deeper down the hallway, in the tall, dark building that casts shadows on all the buildings that surround it. The tears that had been waiting for this moment start to fall.

She knows what's coming. She has known for days. She has known for days that turned into weeks that turned into years.

And then it had been three years.

Three years ago she had been happy.

Three years ago she had known love.

She had been loved, she was in love, and she loved.

Now all she had was sadness.

"We're almost there." He says quietly, and he lifts her hand from his.

He falls away from her, and a spot of red appears on his chest.

She screams and screams for help, and she cries, and holds him, but in the end he is dead.

And when she wakes up she cries, because she remembers.

Remembering is hard, and she knows.

Her friends help her because they know that if they don't, she'll fall apart.

And when she leaves them for the last time they read her words, and she lives on.

Dear Friends,

For my Love:
I thought I'd cry for you forever, but I couldn't so I didn't. People's children die and they don't even cry forever. I thought I'd see your face in my mind forever, but I don't even remember what your ears looked like. Long before we ever touched and long before we knew too much, I just wish we were strangers again.

I leave these words with you, not so you will know that I will miss you forever, but so you know that I made my choice, and I love you.

For my True Friends:
Some day I'll see your name in lights and I will smile.

Remember that I will always be with you, in your hearts, and you will know that I am not as far away as I seem.

For my Family:
No matter how careful you are, there's going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn't experience it all. There's that fallen heart feeling that you rushed right through the moments where you should've been paying attention.

Do not cry for me, but instead make more love than before.

For Everyone:
I understand. I get it, the situation, lifestyle, human existence, whether it is presented in spring or winter or 1809. I understand you, regardless of race, sex, or criminal history. I can comprehend. I empathize, with your ill-fated circumstances, his opinion that casual sex still subsists, her bleeding heart. In the darkness of the truth that distances your shallow friends and sheltered family, I nod my head in recognition.

I wish you all the luck, love, and happiness in the world.

For the World:
I know we're all souls just trying to connect but we're all left searching on our own.

Give kisses to the godchildren and tell them the tale of how a pauper became a princess, and how she was rescued and loved by her knight in shining armor.

With love,

Hermione Granger-Malfoy
