Chapter 1

He was in a stone, musty room. It was dark and felt like ice. Outside the walls, a storm was brewing. Flashes of light lit his way to him. Every step closer he took, the more the pain grew. He could see him, getting closer. He could sense him. His footsteps echoed throughout the lonely walls. A scream bounced off the walls and into his ears: A woman's scream. He rushed to find her. He must find her! He must not lose her! He ran turning over desks and throwing books until he finally reached her. She was cornered. Her brown eyes looked to him for help, but he could not help her. Light flashed and revealed her face. 'What a beautiful face,' he thought. 'Her pristine looks, her gorgeous, brown eyes. The way her tousled, brown hair falls delicately on her shoulders. How I love her so.' Her screams rumbled as if they were thunder. Lighting flashed again, but this time she was not against the wall. She was lying on the floor, covered in blood. A figure had appeared from the shadow that she had feared. He saw the eyes. : The red, cat-like eyes and the pale skin of the person whom he feared the most. He was back.

"No!" screamed Harry, drenched in sweat. He looked around his dorm room, but only found himself in his four poster bed. 'It was only a dream,' he thought. He tried to go back to sleep, but remembered those eyes. It felt as if they were looking through to his soul: His very thoughts. Hermione's dead body was etched in his mind. It gave him shivers up his spine at the very thought of it. Hours later, Harry had managed to sleep.

"Harry," said a familiar voice. "Harry, get up!" Harry opened his eyes, Ron's face still blurry. "We have to meet Hermione in the common room and we're already late. Let's go!" Ron handed him his robes and helped his dress, since Harry was still half-asleep.

"We're meeting Hermione?" Harry asked. The image of Hermione's dead body flashed in Harry's mind. His scar seared with pain.

"Yes, Hermione. Did I stutter?" Ron reached for Harry's bag and put his quill and unfinished homework inside of it. "Now let's get a move on, shall we?" They raced down the spiral staircase, nearly knocking over Neville. They had finally reached the common room. The fireplace was ablaze, Jack-o-Lanterns were placed on tables, and first years playing tag around the furniture.

"Now wait one minute!" Hermione had noticed the first years and marched towards them, showing them her Head Girl badge. Harry was so glad that his dream had not been real. He needed Hermione. He remembered the first day at Hogwarts. She had marched right up to him on the train. He loved her courage. Hermione scolded the youngsters, looked around, and noticed Harry and Ron. "It's about time you two," she said as she gave each of them a hug. "Harry, what's wrong? You're drenched in sweat." Harry felt his forehead.

"Hot night." Hermione looked satisfied with his answer. He wished he could tell her about his dream, how he had seen her lifeless on the ground.

"I want to get there before all the good food is eaten." Ron hurried out of the common room. Harry and Hermione followed, sometimes running after Ron to catch up.

"Now class," Professor Flitwick said, opening his book, "turn to page seven hundred and forty-three." The class followed his directions and opened their hefty books to the directed page. "This chapter is about the Undying Love Charm. Can anyone tell me what the charm is for?" Hermione raised her hand: She was the only one. "Ah, Miss Granger, enlighten us."

"The Undying Love Charm is a charm to bring back a loved one that has passed on. You may only use this charm once in a lifetime, but not just anyone can perform this spell." The class suddenly seemed indulged in what Hermione was saying. "You must obtain a certain amount of power to use this spell. If you counter the spell without the right amount of power, the spell will take your life instead of bringing someone back. Only one person is known to have the correct amount of power to bring to life an individual: Lord Voldemort." Ron cringed, Parvati Patil shrieked and fainted, and Professor Flitwick fell off his stand.

"Correct Miss Granger. Ten points awarded to Gryfindor." Professor Flitwick fixed his hair and proceeded on with the lesson. "The Undying Love Charm can only be used once, yes, but you cannot bring back just anyone. They must have loved you in return before they passed. Now we all know that no one could possibly love Lord Vold-" Parvati shrieked once again. "You-Know-Who so there are no worries. This spell is quite different then normal spells, though: There is no reverse spell. Usually you have an incantation to undo a spell, but once the spell is complete, you cannot undo it. The incantation is Amourer. I suggest that none of you try this spell, because we all know that none of us, including me, is capable of conjuring it." He looked directly at Harry. 'Did he know what I dreamt last night?' he asked himself. He could not possibly know. Could he?
