Just your average Death Eater

Chapter one

As she sat in potions class, Hermione watched the clock as Snape droned on with his lecture.

"I can't wait until I graduate. It's only in forty-five minutes!" she thought.

Finally, the bell rang and she jumped up and dashed out the room.

One Week Later

Hermione now had a small apartment above Ollivander's in Diagon Alley. She had yet to pick a place to work. As she sat at her desk poring over the job offers, she heard a faint tapping at the window. She went over and opened it; in flew a brown barn owl with a small roll of parchment tied to his leg. She removed the letter from his leg and he then flew out of the window. The letter read:

Miss Granger,

I am afraid that with the Dark Lord rising again, there have been many problems in the Ministry. They would like to offer you a job, and I must say that it is crucial that you accept it. To discuss the matter further, please join me at the Leaky Cauldron at seven o'clock tonight.

Albus Dumbledore

The note sounded strange to Hermione but she decided to go. She looked at the clock on the wall that read 6:50. She then threw on her light gray robes, put her silver cloak over them, and walked to the Leaky Cauldron. Dumbledore wasn't there yet, so she decided to order a drink.

"A butterbeer please, Tom," she said, stepping up to the bar.

In a few moments he handed her the drink; after paying for it, she went and sat down at a table near the fire. Seconds later, Dumbledore arrived.

"Hello, Miss Granger, " he said with a warm smile. "I hope you have enjoyed the past week without school. Now to get down to business. I need you to listen carefully and not interrupt. There is very little time and the Ministry asked me to come and speak to you. It seems that Voldemort is preparing for a war. We need someone to infiltrate his circle of acquaintances as a spy and find out his plans. The Ministry feels that you would be ideal for this challenging task. I know that you'll need time to think about it..."

"I'll do it," she said eagerly, before he could finish his sentence.

"Glad to hear it, and Miss Granger - please be careful. The Ministry said to use whatever means necessary to get into his inner circle," he replied.

Just then, an owl flew in and gave Dumbledore a letter.

"It seems that you're to have a partner. While you're on the job, you can stay at his manor. He will pick you up at nine o'clock tonight. Oh, before I forget...please sign this contract," he said.

After Hermione looked over and signed the contract, Dumbledore muttered a quick good-bye and disapparated. Then Hermione walked back to her apartment and started to pack, while wondering how she was going to even find Voldemort, let alone get into his inner circle. Just then, someone knocked and she went to answer the door.

"MALFOY?!" she shrieked.

"Nice to see you too, Granger," he snapped. "Let me guess, you're my new partner? Great. Well, do you have your stuff ready?" he inquired, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Yeah, just a second," she said running into her room.

She came out shortly after, grabbed a few books from her overly large bookcase, and they were off. taking a muggle taxi, much to Draco's dismay. When they arrived at Malfoy Manor, they were greeted by two house elves, who saw to her luggage.

"Welcome to your new home. At least for a couple of months," Draco said flatly.

"Gee thanks," she replied, rolling her eyes. Some people never change, she thought.

"Here's the plan, Granger," he said to her. "Were going to meet them? Who? in an hour. For us to get you in, you're going to have to pretend to be my fiancée."

Hermione cringed at the thought of even going out with Draco, but she knew she had to do it.

"That's ok with you, isn't it?" he asked.

"Yeah," she replied.

"Good," he answered, slipping a beautiful diamond ring on her finger. "Just in case anyone asks," he added. "Massy will escort you to your room. I'll see you in an hour when it's time to leave."

With that a house elf came and led Hermione to her room. It was wonderful, she had to admit. There was a master bed covered in golden silk sheets, a huge fireplace, and her very own bathroom. She turned around to say thank you, but the elf had already vanished. Hermione then removed a book from her bag titled A New Look for a New Witch, by Curly Ironia. She couldn't believe what she was about to do, but she had no choice. She had said she would do whatever it took to get into the circle, and she didn't want anyone to recognize her.

An hour later, Hermione stared at herself in the mirror with disbelief. A strange person looked back at her. In place of her short, bushy, chestnut-colored hair, she now had straight, dark brown, all most black hair that cascaded silkily to the small of her back. Her eyes were now deep pools of violet, her skin was three shades paler, her body slimmer, her curves more noticeable, her lips fuller, and her nose a bit smaller.

"Wow," she said to herself.

She couldn't believe her new appearance. Now all she needed was a new name, she thought, as she applied her makeup and put on her black silk dress robes and dark purple cloak. She glanced in the mirror again and realized that she looked almost evil, which scared her a little bit.

"This is Mione Malfoy," she said to the mirror, proud of her new name.

Then Draco entered the room. "Are you finished yet, we're going to be la...." he began impatiently, his voice trailing off in shock as she turned around.

"What do you think?" she asked. "I figured it was necessary. I couldn't have anyone figuring out who I was, now could I? Now, no one will ever expect Mione Malfoy to be the mudblood Hermione Granger," she said with a small laugh.

Draco just stood there staring. In front of him stood a beautiful, sexy witch. "Is it really Granger?" he thought.

Now, noticing that he was staring and that she was giving him a strange look, he suddenly looked away, and muttered, "You look good. Are you ready, Mione?"

"Yup," she answered, taking his hand before they apparated.

"Where am I?" she inquired, looking around. It almost looked like the inside of the Shrieking Shack.

"You are in my home," replied a very deep, cold voice that gave Hermione goose bumps.

She turned around to see who had spoken, and there in front of her stood Voldemort himself.
