Author's Note:
Dedicated to Sirius Black, who may not actually be in this story, but I love him anway. Book Five never happened! This is a Ginny Weasley POV, incase I don't mention it until the end. :)

It was the end of the world.

Harry had fought bravely. He’d beaten Lord Voldemort. We had thought the death of one man would end everything, end this "revolution"as some had chosen to call it. We were wrong. Dead wrong.

The day after Voldemort’s demise, we had a barbeque out on the lawn of the Burrow. Dad had gotten a grill from a Muggle store and made everyone burgers and hotdogs.

Everyone as in those who hadn’t died. Sirius at the Department of Mysteries. Percy of suicide when he realized what he had said to our father. George, Fred, and Bill at the twins joke shop, when Death Eaters had stormed it, thinking Harry was inside. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and I had left it minutes before, but Bill had stayed with the twins to talk about some surprise he wanted to pull on his fiancé. Now they were gone.

But apart from our casualties, many people were present. If you can believe it, Dumbledore showed up with a keg of fire whisky and had gotten drunk. It was hilarious at the time, but how were we to know we shouldn’t have let our guard down?

I can still see it clearly, when we first saw a cloud over our heads. Our biggest worry was a rain on our parade. Had Alastor Moody had been there, maybe we would have gave it more thought, maybe things would have ended up differently, but he and Remus had died in the last battle the day before.

I remember looking at Draco across the table and smiling. Malfoy had switched sides about a year ago when we started seeing each other. Harry hadn’t been too please with it, but Draco won all of our trust by saving our lives on more than one occasion.

It was a beautiful day, full of laughter and happiness, until the rain started. The rain of fire.

Mom was hit first. The Death Eaters had bewitched rocks, stones, and anything they could get their hands on to burn everything they touched in a matter of seconds. Mom burned before my eyes.

Next to her was Dad. He was hit with a burning pitchfork that had fell with enough force to smash through his skull and deliver it’s fire straight to his brain. Cruel, but effective. He disintegrated before anyone could do anything.

Dumbledore was killed by a Death Eater on a broom stick. A flash of green, a rush of wind, and a loud thump of a body hitting the ground, and I knew it was over. Ron and Hermione were next to go, sitting together under a tree, planning their wedding to each other, reacting the slowest out of everyone. By the time they figured out what was happening, a Death Eater shot down their tree, bring it crashing down over them. They died together, at least. They never had a chance.

“Run!” Draco screamed to me, running towards Harry, and the two joined the remaining Aurors in trying to fight off the Death Eaters.

I ran. Ran back through the house to the fireplace. I Floo to Malfoy Manor. I knew it would be deserted. I had seen Lucious at the Burrow. I ran to Draco’s old room. The first room we made love in. Our room. The one place I really felt at home. My sanctuary, no one could hurt me here.

I waited for hours. Draco would know to look for me here. Where else would I be? I heard someone Apparate in the hall.

I knew the sound of his Apparating, I heard it in all my dreams at night. “Draco!” I called, running into the hall.

Draco was there, but he was crumpled on the floor. His eyes were closed, wincing in pain. He was bleeding through a hole in his stomach.

“No,” I whispered, sinking to the floor beside his.

He gave me a final smile. “I had to come back and see you, Ginny. The one last thing I will ever see in this world, it had to be your beautiful face. Forgive me, I couldn’t stop them.” He touched my face, brushing tears away from my wet checks. I held on to his hand. “My beautiful Ginny,” he said, “ I love you.” He breathed out and I felt his hand slide from my grasp.

I looked at him, begging his to breathe in again, praying for him to open his eyes again, but he never did. He never would. “No.”

I walked into our room. Our Room. The one place no one could hurt us. Our sanctuary. I pulled out my wand and placed it to my head.

Avada Kedavra.”
