Going to Diagon Alley
"And don't forget to buy yourself some new Quills and parchment," Mrs. Relunte said as her niece Jenny as she was at the door to leave for Diagon Alley.
"I know, I know, you told me a thousand times last night," Jenny said getting annoyed. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. Besides, you have to stay here anyway. Don't worry about a thing." Mrs. Relunte didn't seem very convinced. "Okay, but don't talk to people unless you have to, and make sure not to go into Knockturn Alley. They are some very strange folks down that way."
"Alright, bye Aunt Vez, I'll be back as soon as I can!" Jenni shouted as she went out the door. She was glad to be out of the house. Her aunt had been filling her with instructions the entire night and into the morning. Her aunt had to stay at home because she had a business meeting soon with the Ministry of Magic. Her aunt worked in the department that helped out with the Muggle protection at all large wizarding events. Like when they were having the World Cup, her Aunt had been up almost every night trying to arrange it. They lived by themselves, and Jenny had been sent to a lot of Wizarding Boarding schools. Her aunt refused to let her be put into a Muggle school. She claimed it was degrading for a person with magical powers to be sent to a school with unmagical users; that it was a waste of their abilities. Although Jenny loved to do magic, sometimes she got sick of it and wanted to try regular subjects. So every once in awhile she would feel the need to get away from her Aunt and go into a Muggle community. Although today's visit was to a wizarding place, Jenny still loved Diagon Alley and was excited every time she went there. She hadn't had an argument with her aunt recently, but she'd been busy lately, so Jenny felt the need to get out. So she used the opportunity to get school supplies to get out for the day. The only problem with going to Diagon Alley was she had to walk there. It was about a ½ a mile walk, but Jenny couldn't use magic to carry her things back, so if felt like it took forever. Jenny started to walk the familiar path. She saw a couple familiar faces of her wizarding friends and waved to them along the way. Jenny had lived with her aunt as long as she could remember. Her aunt wasn't married, and never had been. Her aunt told her that her parents had died when she was about a year and ½ old. She was the most likely one of her relatives to take her in. So she had been with her and taught her magic basically her entire life. It seemed to her that it was very important the Jenny learned magic. She finally reached the Leaky Cauldron and decided to get something to drink before she went into Diagon Alley.
"Hey Jenny, buying school supplies?" Tom asked from behind the counter.
"Yeah. Hey, could I get a butterbeer?" she asked.
"Alright, that'll be 3 sickles," he said handing her the butterbeer. She took the sickles out of her pockets and handed him the money.
"So how are things going in Diagon Alley, Tom?" she asked taking a long sip of her butterbeer.
"Good, as usual. The only problem is that we've been having some fights breaking out around here usually. Just the other week two men were fighting in front of Flourish and Blotts."
"Really? I've never seen any fights around here. It's usually so peaceful."
"Well, I guess things are different now," Tom said sadly.
"Well, I gotta go. My aunt's got a whole long list of things she wants me to get," she said finishing her Butterbeer. "See you later Tom!" she said as she left through the back of the store. She got out her wand as she entered the secluded alley. She hit a couple of bricks and they flew apart. Jenny stepped into Diagon Alley feeling right at home.
