Chapter 1: The Note and the Dream
Harry walked over to his bed after an exhausting Quidditch practice when he found a note. He opened it, curious about its content. The note read:
'You've made me laugh
You've made me cry
You've trapped me in your dazzling eyes
You've broken my heart to shards of glass
You've never noticed me, just walked on past.
I've been your friend
I've been annoying
I've loved you forever
I've wanted you every day
I've never told you once.
We've been through everything together
We've conquered every task we face
We've shared our secrets and problems
We've never even given thought that we could be forever.
You've stole my heart away
I've fallen for you hard
We've always been there for each other.
So here is all I ask
Just one simple plea
Could you ever take the chance to
Somehow be with me?
Love,
Hermione.'
Harry sat down on his four poster bed, the words repeating inside his head, his eyes re-reading the verse again and again.
'I've loved you forever
I've wanted you every day'
So she loved him back. Harry felt happiness spread all through his body. For seven years, he had hid, from himself and the world, how much he cared. But now he felt the old burning desire spread through his veins again. He got up and headed to the library. It was time for her to know.
Harry looked around, looking for her. She wasn't there.
'I wonder where she has gone,' he thought and headed outside. He found Ron talking to Hagrid.
"Hey Hagrid!" greeted Harry.
"Hello," replied Hagrid, giving Harry a warm smile. "What's that piece of paper your holding, Harry?" he asked. Harry blushed slightly and clutched the note in his hand.
"Nothing," Harry replied.
"Ron," asked Harry, now turning to his friend, "Have you seen Hermione?"
"Yes," Ron replied. "She told me that she would be in the Astronomy Tower, finishing her homework. Why?"
"I need to talk to her..." said Harry.
Harry thanked Ron and rushed inside. He climbed stairs and went through many doorways before he got to the tower.
The stars were already visible and Hermione sat, a candle lit by her, writing on parchment.
"Hermione," said Harry, clutching the note, that was still in his hand. Hermione looked back and saw the clutched note in Harry's hand.
"Hermione, I want you to know that, I have always loved you, ever since the first time I saw you. I... didn't want to admit it though," said Harry, this time not blushing, and looking at her straight in the eyes.
"You, Hermione," he continued, " are the love of my life. I have never been so sure of something."
"Harry," Hermione said, "I really love you too. But, you see, Ron and I are dating and, I'm sorry to say this, but, I love him more than anything... and... I like you as a friend... not more than that... Im sure you understand..."
"But... the note said.." said Harry, opening the note again, just to find it blank.
"What note?" Hermione asked
"Nothing," said Harry, tears in his eyes, and he walked back down stairs. He wanted to kill himself. Drowning felt good.
"Harry,"
"Stop, leave me alone!"
"Harry, wake up!"
Harry opened his eyes. It was only a dream.
