Cemetery Drive

This night, walk the dead
in a solitary style
and crash the cemetery gates.
In the dress your husband hates
way down, mark the grave
where the search lights find us
drinking by the mausoleum door
and they found you on the bathroom floor

One night Harry saw Luna, walking, no, floating amongst the trees. Like an angel in death. So beautiful and eloquent, her black gauzy dress wrapping around her perfectly. Her translucent skin favored by the moon as her platinum hair draped down her back. Walking In a style so orderly. He couldn't remember what he was doing at the cemetery tonight. So many lives had been lost. Yet it was only hers that had mattered the most. And she hadn't even died of the war. He walked up to a grave marker, so fresh, the words telling the haunted truth. Light illuminated his raven head. They were coming. But he didn't care as he took a drink out of the liquor bottle. He was tired of running from them. Harry knew they had been surprised when they had found her body. No one saw it coming. But was he the cause?

I miss you, I miss you so far
and the collision of your kiss that made it so hard

Dry tears welled in his eyes as he remembered all their nights together. Luna's lips crashing against his. Arising passion and pain each time. They both knew what they were doing were wrong. But what if someone found out? The risk made it so much sweeter. But how long could they take it? Before the guilt imprisoned them.

Back home, off the run
singing songs that make you slit your wrists
it isn't that much fun, staring down a loaded gun
so I won't stop dying, won't stop lying
if you want I'll keep on crying
did you get what you deserve?
Is this what you always want me for?

So little had changed a mere month before. Now that he was done running from the world, he was free to think. Music lilted in the background as faint memories invaded his mind. Luna sang. She sang while she cut. The blood oozing from her wrists. Laughing with the pain. The gun was carefully masked under the kitchen sink. One place she knew he would never look. It had been a long week. Blood splattered the floor. Staring down the loaded gun, she pulled the trigger. Withering on the ground like a crushed butterfly, leaving her husband to find her.

Bitterness engulfed Harry. Every time he thought of her, he felt as if he too had died as well. Harry tried to lie about what happened. But all it did was make it worse. Sometimes he felt a ghostly whisper in the wind, kissing his tears. Forbidden tear trailed down his face. The first tears since the night at the cemetery. Sometimes he wondered if she deserved it. Maybe it was God's wrath for cheating on her husband. Harry would never know. Was that all he was to her, something unimportant, to cast away?

I miss you, I miss you so far
and the collision of your kiss that made it so hard

Oh how Harry missed Luna! But how could he, after what she had done. Leaving him so abruptly. Taking a part of him with her. The stolen kisses, the nights filled with ecstasy. Her lips meeting his, as if drinking from his soul. Her eyelashes would brush against his skin, making it so hard for him to tell her. But maybe, it might not have been right to tell her. He cursed himself for not seeing it coming.

I miss you, I miss you so far
and the collision of your kiss that made it so hard
made it so hard

He closed his eyes. A ghostly wind brushed across his lips. A sweet kiss in a pure form. It just made it even harder for him to forgive her for how she tortured his mind. Leaving him a broken and sad man. Taking a seat on the ground he lay backwards. Staring at the blackened stars. Tombstones rising all around Harry. He closed his eyes. The wind caressed his face, the spirit of her kissing him. Single kisses that just made it so hard for him to forget.
