- Author's Note:
- This is my first attempt at writing a romance for SS and HG. I know this is only the Prologue and it's short. I promise u the next chapter will be longer and interesting. Hope u like the prologue.
He'd decided that the simplest and logical way to prolong the bloodline was to beget a child. He didn't fancy being married. There was no point in marriage. Not with the kind of job he did. It guaranteed no securities...or future. Besides marriage would only demand his time and commitment to his wife and children. He had none to give. But, the bloodline must continue. It was inevitable. It was his duty to see to the matter. And he was getting old. For that he had made extensive provisions for his child.
Of course, he frowned, that the child should be legitimate and the woman who carried him or her should come from good stock. Wizard families for instance. The thought made him frown more, when were there any purebloods other than those who were in service for the Dark Lord? Would he want any of their evil polluted blood tainting his unborn child?
His eyes glittered as the answer flashed in them. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. HE WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN. Not that he was 'clean' being what he was, still it was that same reason he became resolute in his decision. He was what he was because of obligation and when he finally came to his senses he'd realized he'd lost not only his father and brother to the Dark Lord's insane craving and greed to conquer the world and beyond, he's also lost himself.
What was left was a hollowed man who was now the only blood and heir of his family. His eyes narrowed and his lips thinned in determination. No child of his was going to be conceived in a womb of any of those pureblooded witches who and/or whose families were in league with the Dark Lord.
So, that was why he was here, in this new medi-clinic which was part of St. Mungo's discussing his intention and request to a senior medi-wizard who was clearly elated that there was another who was interested in the prospect of being a single-parent. Even if he was a tall, pale and formidable looking man (or vampire?) attired in black robes looming over him, sending chills down his spine.

She'd no luck with relationships. All of them were bordering zero. Those she liked turned out to be either gay or married. Those she didn't like often wanted to get into her pants because she was a good catch being chaste and held a very good job in the Ministry of Magic. But, she was always wary to a point of weariness and would immediately disassociate herself with them. Since they couldn't get what they wanted they'd called her frigid, uptight, insecure, yes, even used the word mudblood on her.
Not that she minded being called a mudblood. The hurt of being called a mudblood had passed and she was immune to it. Besides, she couldn't change it and wouldn't change it for the world. She was proud of who she was and all tribute went to her parents. The thought saddened her as she thought of them. Her parents were long dead. They died in a car accident a week after she'd graduated from Medical Wizards University in magical forensics and was being absorbed in the Ministry of Magic as a junior trainee medi-detective. She'd sold her parents house and bought a flat in a muggle neighborhood.
It was to those men or wizards that made her to decide that if she was down with love she'd be better off without them. She was a libertine of mind and heart. A firm believer of self-reliance and a woman should never be intimidated by anything impossible and take the lead if need be. Perhaps, this attitude of hers had made it difficult for her to get suitors. But, as a woman, of course she yearned for marriage and a family of her own.
Since, she was down on the first one because of some stupid male notions about what women should do and shouldn't, it was a simple and logical thing to move on to the next phase. She felt it in her heart that it didn't matter if she was down with love but she was not down out of love. That she could and would give solely to her unborn child.
She'd also made provisions for her child if anything should happen to her. She'd already selected her unborn child's godfather and godmother. They were shocked beyond words that she'd taken this step but supported her nonetheless that made her love them even more and she'd trust her unborn child in their capable care.
So, that was why she was here, in this new medi-clinic which was part of St. Mungo's discussing her intention and request to a senior medi-witch who was clearly elated that there was another who was interested in the prospect of being a single-parent who was also a top Ministry official.

I was excited to come across two names I'd fallen out of touch since working here. I picked the two profiles up with their passport-sized moving pictures out of the pile of worthless candidates. I read their request and requirement and very nearly jumped of joy when they requested that they need never know who the recipient was only that their requirement was that the recipient be intelligent, strong, not in anyway connected to purebloods. Halfbloods or mudbloods were acceptable (well I knew what they meant) and possessed of good characteristics (nothing new here too).
They paid handsomely for this 'mission' of theirs. I'd make sure that every galleons, sickles and knuts they'd spent were worth their weight. The beautiful plan was beginning to form in my mind. I knew my meddling would result in my termination from this service. It was against the magi-medi regulations but I'm risking it all for these two individuals whom I think belonged and deserved each other because they were a couple made in heaven. I could tell because they had chemistry and it was potent...if it weren't for their stubbornness and obvious 'blindness' they would've been together.
I wonder did they still have it...that potent chemistry? Why wonder when I could do something about it. Yes, the risk was certainly high but by Merlin...I'm a truly romantic fool.
