So Obvious!

Draco was in a bad mood.

The war was over, the Dark Lord dead, and his father finally gone, (apparently he'd made an Unbreakable Vow to die with the Dark Lord, stupid git). But that wasn't why Draco was in a bad mood, oh no.

Yes the war was finally over, and all that jazz, but that actually pleased Draco, he could finally behave the way he wanted to behave, not the way his father wanted him to behave.

No, Draco was annoyed for a whole different reason, (although to most people the subject of his annoyance was oddly similar to the annoyances he'd had while his father had been alive), that is; the Trio. That bright sparkly bunch of Gryffindors who never let anything get them down, especially now Moldemort was gone.

For months now Draco had been watching them from a distance, wondering how long it would take for one of the males to make a move on Hermione, leaving the other ripe for the picking. Draco wasn't fussed about gender when it came to love, and he knew any of the three would be fine for him, he didn't want heirs, and he didn't want stress - those were the two things his father had revelled in, and they hadn't done him any good at all.

But now...now Draco was in a bad mood. He had only started the rumour - that Harry and Ron were having a torrid love affair all over the castle and had been caught in a number of different places together - so that Hermione would get jealous and make them make up their minds which one would get her. But the rumour had backfired, horribly.

Hermione, far from being horrified about their supposed affair had simply said: "Finally! It's so obvious I don't know why you tried to hide it! I've known you two were in love for years, even if you two didn't, I mean you hang about with a girl all the time, and don't even ask me for girly advice, and just look at your track records with girls! It's been so obvious!" She was completely oblivious to their shocked faces, and refused to listen as they tried to deny it, she simply locked them in a room together, and told them to talk about it (when she did finally realise they weren't actually having a torrid love affair all over the castle, she actually seemed rather disappointed, as if she wanted them to, so she had - in typical Hermione style - made them talk about why the rumour had been started in the first place.)

Draco wanted to scream! He wanted to run over to where Hermione sat outside the locked classroom which held Harry and Ron and demand that she release one of them for him to have, and she keep the other. But he was rather curious as to if they would actually prove him right as to his belief that they batted for both teams, just the same as him. So he was sitting just down the hall from Hermione watching the door for any sign of life, and was getting a sore bum.

***

Hermione was frustrated. Very frustrated. Ever since Voldemort had been killed during the summer she had known that Harry and Ron should get together. But they really didn't seem to notice it. They went on with their life as normal (although it was now void of demented evil wizards trying to kill them) they flew together everyday, they played chess everyday, and when they returned to school, they did absolutely everything together (they had even begun to visit the toilet together, which Hermione had found rather disturbing to begin with, but then had grown used to.) They were completely inseparable, and she hadn't been the least surprised when the rumour of their torrid love affair had reached her ears.

What had surprised her though, was the fact that neither Ron nor Harry had even seemingly entertained with the idea of becoming a couple. And that didn't please Hermione. So she did the thing she always did if they refused to cooperate; she locked them in an empty classroom and left them to talk it over.

That had been an hour ago. At first of course, they had banged on the door, demanding to be let out, but eventually they had grown quiet, and Hermione had heard the beginnings of a conversation before one of them had cast a silencing charm to protect them from eavesdroppers (like herself).

Now Hermione was frustrated. She wanted to storm in the room and find out what had happened, but she didn't dare in case they were actually doing something other than talking. Hermione was also feeling rather nervous, Draco Malfoy had been sitting down the hall ever since she had locked the boys in the classroom, and currently seemed to be having an argument with himself about something.

***

Draco was beginning to weaken. He really wanted to know what was going on inside that classroom, and he really wanted to just march up to Hermione and demand that she unlock the door and let them out. He had also noticed that Hermione was somewhat frustrated about something, and she kept glaring at the classroom door as if it had somehow locked itself, and denied her a front row seat in the only showing of her favourite show.

Draco jumped to his feet at exactly the same time as Hermione, and sprinted down the hall as she unlocked the door and flung it open. Draco wished he hadn't run in that direction. Because then he wouldn't have had to see what he had seen.

***

Hermione couldn't take it anymore. She had to know what they were doing in the classroom, even if it was just another of their infinite chess games. She jumped up and spun to open the door, dimly aware that Draco had jumped up at the same time and had run down the hall to stand behind her as she opened the door. What she saw made her smile, although if the gasp behind her was anything to go by, Draco wasn't smiling.

***

Harry was sitting on a desk with his legs wrapped firmly round Ron's waist; Ron was busy kissing Harry soundly as he unbuttoned both their shirts. They broke apart at Draco's gasp, and blushing slightly they both turned to smile at Hermione, who was grinning like the proverbial Cheshire cat.

***

Hermione closed the door quietly and left her boys to sort out themselves. She was smiling widely. Until she tripped over the unconscious form of Draco Malfoy, who, it seemed had fainted on seeing Harry and Ron kissing. Hermione knelt by Draco's head and slapped his cheek lightly, calling, "Draco, Draco, wake up."

***

Draco was having the worst and best dream of his life. He dreamt he had seen Harry and Ron kissing, and now he dreamt that Hermione was kneeling beside him, her small soft hand on his cheek, quietly calling his name, and shaking him gently.

Draco opened his eyes and looked up into Hermione's. He blinked a few times and then, convincing himself it wasn't a dream (and none of it had been he realised with a silent groan) he sat up, rubbing the back of his head where he had hit it on the floor when he fell.

Draco looked at Hermione, and for the first time realised that she was happy about Harry and Ron, and this confused Draco.

"Why are you so pleased that those two got together?" he asked, his confusion obvious from his tone of voice.

"Because they are very much a match, and I didn't want to have to choose between them," Hermione replied, smiling at him.

"Oh," Draco said, "who would you choose then?" he asked shakily, noticing that she still had her hand on his cheek.

"Someone who doesn't have a constant shadow," Hermione said, stroking his cheek, and sitting down next to him.

Draco blinked, and lifted his hand to Hermione's cheek and revelled in the soft skin he found there.

"What about you?" she asked in a whisper. "Who would you choose?"

"I'd choose the one who wants me." Draco whispered back, mesmerised by her eyes, smiling at him, and her lips, looking so soft and kissable.

***

Harry smiled at Ron as he buttoned his shirt, and Ron smiled back. Taking Harry's hand in his, Ron opened the door to go and find Hermione and explain things to her.

Ron stopped short, Harry bumping into him from behind.

"Wh-?" Harry began to ask why Ron had stopped when he saw why.

Hermione was sitting on the hall floor with Draco Malfoy, kissing him. Passionately.

"Well, I can't say I didn't see this coming," Ron whispered to Harry, "it was so obvious!"

***

Draco was dimly aware of Harry and Ron standing in the classroom doorway, but he didn't care. Hermione simply ignored them, they might be 'her boys', but Draco was her boy, and he wanted her just as much as she wanted him, Ron was right, it was just So Obvious!

Hi! Thankyou for reading this, it's the first fic I've completed (although as a one-shot it was easier to finish!) and I hope you enjoyed it, Please review! I'd love to hear any comments, good or bad! I'm thinking of doing this fic from Harry and Ron's POV, so let me know if that sounds like something you'd read! S.R.S.
