Apologies

The next few days passed quickly and Wednesday came. Harry went down to the Great Hall for breakfast at around nine-thirty.

After he finished eating, Harry returned to his dorm room. He grabbed his copy of Hogwarts, A History and his Portkey. He thought about Platform Nine and Three Quarters and was transported there.

It was still pretty early so there were very few people waiting there. Harry sat on the bench and started reading his book.

At about a quarter after ten, people started flocking through the barrier, onto the platform. The first people he saw were Cho and her family. Cho walked up to Harry and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey stranger," she said.

"Hey, Hon," Harry replied. Harry stood up and planted a kiss on Cho's lips.

"Were you waiting long?" Cho asked.

"No. I've only been here since about ten o'clock or so."

"We'll have to sit with Julius. I hope you don't mind."

"Not in the slightest. I like hanging around with Julius. Seeing as I'm an orphaned only child with a cousin who hates me, being with Julius is like having a younger brother of my own. I like having someone to teach and care for. It makes me feel better, here," he said placing a hand on his heart.

Just then Ron and Hermione entered the platform. They both walked by him without saying a word to him. In fact, if looks could kill, the look that Ron gave him would have killed Harry on the spot. Harry watched them walk towards the front of the train.

"This has gone on long enough," said Harry, "I haven't talked with them since my birthday. It's killing me inside. Even if we don't become friends again, I have to apologize."

"Wait, Harry. I'll go get Julius and we'll come with you," said Cho. She went to find her parents and Julius. She returned a few minutes later, Julius walking by her side. "We're back. Let's go."

They walked towards the front of the train. They saw Ron and Hermione in one of the first compartments they entered. "What are you doing here, Potter?" demanded Ron.

"Sit down, Weasley. I need to talk to you and Hermione," said Harry not backing down. Ron walked up and stood toe to toe with Harry.

"Ron, sit down, please," said Hermione, "we'll listen to him and if we don't like what he has to say, then we'll make him leave."

Ron sat down, as it was Hermione who spoke to him. "Thank you Hermione." Hermione said nothing. "I came to apologize to the both of you. I said some pretty nasty things on my birthday. I didn't mean them. It was more my anger towards Voldemort--” Ron and Julius flinched “--and the Dursleys; and my loneliness speaking. I never meant to hurt either of you."

"You did, though," said Hermione.

"I know. I'm sorry." Harry turned to Ron, "Ron, you realized your feelings for Hermione first. I'm truly happy for you. Besides apologizing, I also want to thank you."

"What for?" asked Ron.

"Well, before I found out that you and Hermione were seeing each other, I had feelings for both Hermione and Cho. I couldn't make up my mind. Ron, seeing as you and Hermione are seeing each other I had no choice to make."

"So I'm second best then," retorted Cho.

"I didn't mean it that way. I liked the both of you. I didn't know which one I liked better. When I saw that Ron and Hermione were dating, I took that as a sign that you and I were meant to be, Cho. Well, I have said my piece, given my apologies. Cho, Julius and I will leave now so you can think about forgiving me." Harry, Cho and Julius turned to leave the compartment.

"Sit down you silly git," said Ron.

"Why?"

"We have already forgiven you," said Hermione, "we knew you probably had other things on your mind. We knew that you probably weren't angry at us."

"Well, I actually was at first, because you kept your relationship a secret from me. It only lasted until I got to the corner when I ran from Hermione's house."

"Why didn't you come back?" asked Hermione.

"I don't know why, but I felt like I couldn't face the two of you at the time." The trio gave each other a massive group hug.

Harry, Cho and Julius sat and shared the compartment with Ron and Hermione. When the witch with the trolley came around at one o'clock, Harry bought enough for everyone to share.

They all talked about their summers and Harry told Ron and Hermione that he wouldn't be joining them for Charms and Transfiguration since he aced his summer courses.
