Cynthia had Quidditch practice, so Tonks went out with the girls. The group took a trip to the Muggle cinema, which was fascinating to Ginny who'd never seen a film before. She laughed at the fact Muggles needed so much equipment to create a "moving picture." After some amusing shopping where Hermione and Tonks explained the uses of a ton of Muggle objects, they went for a stroll down Diagon Alley.

Ginny visited Quality Quidditch Supplies with Tonks while Hermione picked up a new book at Florish and Blotts. Ginny checked out the broom servicing kits. She actually did want one of those kits; Harry's looked nice, and her mediocre broom certainly needed far more care than his Firebolt. She had to keep the broom she had in top condition if she wanted that Chaser spot. But she didn't have the money for a fancy kit like Harry's, so she settled with buying a few broom care supplies.

She and Tonks conversed normally while in the store. Of course Tonks had no reason not to avoid her. Ginny was the one whose stomach tied itself in knots whenever they were in close proximity. She became skilled at putting a bit of distance between the two of them at these times.

When they left the Quidditch store, they found Hermione waiting for them — with Cho Chang at her side. The two had met up in the bookshop, and they'd begun chatting. Since she had nothing else to do for the rest of the day, Cho had agreed to join Hermione. Ginny wondered if either of them was hoping for a little more than a bit of "hanging out."

Tonks invited Cho to her flat to spend the rest of the day with them. Although Tonks was the adult of the group, it felt like they were four friends having fun. It surprised Ginny that she mingled with Cho so easily; but now that Ginny understood what happened between Hermione and Cho, she didn't mind her too much. It was as if they'd decided (without saying so) not to bring up last year, and as long as they did that no problem existed.

But Ginny's problem with Tonks still did exist, and Ginny wanted to get the words out before Cynthia came home. So she asked Tonks for a private word and they slipped off into her bedroom. Tonks flopped on the bed, and Ginny paced the floor, twisting her hands nervously.

"So, what's going on little Ginny?"

"Please don't call me little," Ginny said. "I'm not a baby, you know."

"Sorry," Tonks said. "So what do you want to talk about?"

"Well, it's kind of hard to say."

"You don't have to," Tonks said sadly. "I'm pretty sure I know what it's about. You find it weird that I have a girlfriend."

"No," Ginny said as she sat down beside Tonks. "That's not it at all. I mean, I suppose Cyn's nice enough and all. And you two seem to get on great and all, but it is hard for me to see you together. But that's because ... well ... I think ... I sort of ... fancy you myself."

"Really?" Tonks said with a grin.

"Really," Ginny said sadly, quite embarrassed and ready to take the words back.

"That's so cute," she said with a huge grin. She hugged the young girl and ruffled her hair.

"Make me feel like a six-year-old, why don't you?" Ginny said moving away from Tonks. A horrified reaction would have been much better than treating her like child.

"Sorry," Tonks said. "I'm not making fun of you. It's flattering. But are you figuring out you like girls a little more than guys or the same as guys — or is it just me?"

"At the moment, just you."

"Well that's fine with me."

"But you're involved; and every time I'm around you, I want to kiss you."

"Alright," she said.

"What do you mean alright?"

" I'm not inviting you to bed, but if it's a bit of snogging that's got you curious, then let's get on with it."

"You're serious?" Ginny asked. Her mouth was suddeny feeling completly inadequate for snogging anyone.

"Why not?" Tonks said. "It's just a kiss. Unless the reality of it has got you scared."

"No, it hasn't."

"Are you sure?" Tonks challenged, leaning in close.

Ginny liked challenges. She pulled the older woman to her, and they shared a kiss that completely knocked Tonks off her feet. She had expected to have control of the kiss, but Ginny was giving her none. She was leading, and all Tonks could do was follow. This shocked her mostly because her own first kiss with Cyn had been an impulsive sloppy mess. Ginny didn't have this problem, damnit! The girl knew exactly what to do with that sweet, little mouth of hers. Everything but thoughts of this girl and this moment and the taste of her was driven from her mind as the floral smell that was uniquely Ginny intoxicated her. Tonks was breathless when the kiss ended. Their heads remained tilted together, and it took her a moment to speak.

"That was ... who have you been snogging?"

"Just Michael and Dean. Michael was rubbish at it, but I didn't know that until I kissed Dean. But somehow this was still better."

"It was brilliant." Tonks touched the younger woman's cheek gently. "You know, I'm rethinking that whole 'not taking you to bed' thing."

Tonks pulled the girl close again, teasing her with brief touches of lips on lips for a few moments before they were again pulled into an intimate lip-on-lip duel. Even though Ginny was a skilled kisser, she still leaked innocence that was begging to be taken and ravaged. This surprised Tonks, as she had started this simply to settle the girl's curiosity, and now she wanted more.

"What are you doing?" a voice yelled.

They broke off the kiss and turned to see Cynthia, who had apparated directly into the room.

"It's my fault," Ginny said defensively, as she jumped off the bed. "I wanted … well I needed ... to kiss her. I needed to know."

"Get out!" the Quidditch player yelled. "I said, go!"

Ginny fled the room, thinking any continued presence would only make the impending row between the two women worse.

"First the wolf, now the teenager!" was the last thing she heard Cyn say before the door closed behind her.

She rushed into the kitchen to locate the other girls, only to find Hermione sitting on the counter with Cho standing between her legs. Cho's hands were lost somewhere under Hermione's shirt, and she was nibbling on Hermione's neck. Hermione's eyes were closed, and she was moaning. A moan like Ginny had never heard from the sensible Hermione. Even after she told Ginny she and Cho had kissed, she found it hard to imagine the scene as sexy. It was all sort of clinical and cold in her mind, because as much as she loved her friend that's the air Hermione put off.

Suddenly, a loud crash in Tonks' room broke the two girls out of their spell. Hermione noticed Ginny standing there. She pushed Cho away, which confused her at first. But then she noticed Ginny standing there. They tried to straighten themselves up and pretend as if they hadn't just been ready to shag on Tonks' kitchen counter. All three stared at each other without speaking for a minute. Cho seemed to be looking to Hermione for some reassuring words that would neutralize the awkwardness of the situation.

"So, you two together?" Ginny asked to break the ice.

"No," they said together.

"Neither are Tonks and I," Ginny stated.

"Huh?" Cho questioned confused.

"She has a crush on her," Hermione explained.

"I kissed her," Ginny stated. "But then Cyn popped in and caught us. She was more than a little pissed. I didn't understand that bit about 'the wolf,' but —"

"So, what will you do if they break up?" Hermione questioned.

"Tonks is my friend, and she's attractive and smart and so many wonderful things. Why wouldn't I be attracted? But I think it was just a bit of lust, not love."

"It's good to know where you stand on it," Hermione said, grinning. "I mean, it's just human to have desires, right?" Her eyes darted to Cho, who was toying uncomfortably with her fingers.

"Yeah, it is," Ginny said in response. "And I never imagined your desires could be so ... carnal. And a bit hot."

Both girls blushed.

"I mean really, if you want to continue the show." Ginny gestured with her hands.

"Stop it, Ginny, that would be too weird," Hermione said, playfully shoving her shoulders as she did.

"I'm just being honest," Ginny told her friend. "You two look good together."

"Thank you, Miss Weasley, but I have no interest in entertaining your voyeuristic lesbian fantasies," Hermione told her teasingly.

She suddenly realized she was being a bit flirty with her best friend and couldn't decide if that was a good idea or not.

"So, what do we do now?" Hermione asked.

"Go back to boys?" Ginny questioned.

"I don't know that I'm quite ready to do that," Cho said, looking at Hermione, her eyes dancing naughtily.
