Author's Note:
Thanks a mil. to those of you who reviewed chapter one. I didn't think i'd add more, but I am. This chapter is very dark, and sort of leaves you hanging. But it gets happier, I promise!

She sniffed sharply, rubbing her eyes which were already red from tears.

"Go Away." She didn't want to speak to ANYONE.

"I'm sorry." His voice was gruff and embarrassed. "I'm honestly sorry, Granger..."

The door slowly opened wide, she never even flinched. She just lay, back not facing him, holding onto a pillow.

"Go away."

He stood there, rather dumbly, trying not to look at her. He fumbled with his words, in a way she had never heard before.

"I... well...I wasn't thinking when I sai-"

"Oh no, you were thinking clearly as crystal." She turned angrily to face him, and he finally saw the true pain in her eyes.

"Sweet like thunder to my soul,

Sweet you rock and... sweet you roll."

"Dammit Granger, I'm apologizing! The almighty Draco Malfoy is APOLOGIZING!"

She sniffed, it was ironic... his timing. Hermione scoffed and looked up at him.

"Too late..."

"Hermione...please."

"No. I mean for me."

With that she raised her wrists, so delicately hidden under now wine colored pillows. Draco's eyes widened in horror as he saw the angry slices in her pale flesh.

"Chrissakes, Granger! What did you do?!" He rushed over to her, she was too weak to even object. He held those stick thin arms in his hands and started shaking.

"Wh-what did you do?"

"What do you think?" Those oversized, brown orbs scanned over his visage. She almost found it humorous...

He was on the verge of tears.

"H-Hermione..." There was a spell... there had to be a spell. He couldn't very well carry her down to Madam Pomfrey's wing. All that would end with would be sending her home, and most likely to an asylum.

"Lost for you...

I'm so lost...

For you..."

"Draco... just let it go. Think about it. No one would care. Hell... when word gets out I'm dead, my popularity will be up 100%. 'I never saw it coming!' 'We were like sisters!' They'll create the drama they hold so dear to their hearts. In a month I'll be nothing more than an over-achiever who never had a chance."

"Shut up, SHUT UP!" His words were tainted with overwhelming sorrow and tears. "You've got... Harry and Ron... dammit, they care. They're in love with you."

"They are all I have in this world. But it won't matter. I'm destined to be nothing. NOTHING!" Hermione shrieked... a dull wave of nausea passing over her."

"Oh... you come crash...

Into me...

And I come into...

You."

Draco gently placed her arms down on the pillow, afraid to even let go for fear of her slipping away.

"Jesus..." What was the damned spell?! He quickly fumbled for his wand and pulled it from his robe. It sparked even to his slightest touch.

A little light bulb clicked in his head.

"Healioso!" The long wand dimly glowed as her grabbed for her arms. She weakly protested.

"No...Draco... I don't want to live..."

Her pleas were ignored as he swooped the wand over her wounds, they closed slowly, leaving nothing more than vague imprints of what was. Or should have been.

Angry chocolate eyes stared at him.

"Draco... I hate you... With every fiber of my being...I wish you nothing but sorrow. You've given me life. That is nothing more than my curse. You are my hero and you are my bitter demise."

He now had the look in his eyes that was all too familiar. She didn't need to raise a hand to slap him more sharply than her words had.

"In a boy's dream...."

"Hermione... I love you. Every night my mind goes to a place where you can look at me as more than... your 'bitter demise.'"

He was crying. Perhaps the first time since his childhood years... Draco Malfoy was crying. Maybe it was the thought that the only person he even gave a damn about almost died. He almost lost it all. The rock hard exterior had been cracked more easily than the shell of an egg.

Hermione said nothing. It was those gazes upon eachother that spilled the millions of trapped words.

And then she was crying. Then they were crying.

It wasn't solitary misery any longer.

It was elation.

Shared elation.

And fear.

Shared fear.

But it was shared. And that was everything. It was shared.
