Lullaby
"Hush, Liz." Harry Potter was being kept awake by his 3-month-old baby, Elizabeth. Luna was out of town on a story for the Quibbler, so Harry was left all alone with their baby. He didn't want to watch the telly because of all of the reports about the war. The radio was just full of mindless drivel. He was going out of his mind with all of her crying.
He had tried a detecting colic charm, but it was no use, she was one of the most healthy babies ever. He had tried to put her bassinet under an extra soft charm, but that wasn't it. Nothing he tried worked, not a hot bottle of milk, not a baby movie, nothing!
Harry tried to turn on the radio again, and it was still talk. He tried the telly again, and started to flip stations. Finally he found something that might interest Liz. He turned her towards it, still noting. He let out a sigh and flipped through the channels again.
He came across a talk show of women in front of a baby pink stage. They weren't on chairs, but on the floor, holding... is that? It was! Babies! He turned up the volume to cover Liz's cries.
The voices and music, in the background, slowly floated to his ears. The music was a tinkling sort, a lullaby. The women were talking about how to settle a baby down! He leaned forward to hear, struggling to rock Liz in the process.
"Some times placing them in front of the telly with a favorite show or movie may be the only way to get work done," a red haired woman said.
"Shoving them in front of the telly won't always work," said a woman with auburn hair, sitting next to the one with red hair.
The one on the other side of the red haired woman said, "Some times all you have to do is sing! If you hold them to your chest and sing usually they'll settle down. it's the rhythm of your heart beat and voice that calms them."
Harry looked at the baby in his arms and turned off the telly. He took a few seconds to think of a good song that he knew. Then it came to him. It was a song that he heard on the radio, which actually was gentle. Considering that it was on a rock station, the artist was a rock group, but the song was different. It was actually called 'Lullaby', it was by some group called Creed.
He actually really liked the song, and had already memorized the words. Why hadn't he thought of it before?
He held Liz closer to his heart and started to sing:
Hush my love now don't you cry
Everything will be alright
Close your eyes and drift in dream
Rest in peaceful sleep
If there's one thing I hope
I showed you
Hope I showed you
Just give love to all
Just give love to all
Just give love to all
Oh my love... in my arms tight
Every day you give me life
As I drift off to your world
Will rest in peaceful sleep
I know there's one thing that
You showed me
That you showed me
Just give love to all
Let's give love to all
When Harry finished he looked down at Liz. She was fast asleep in his still rocking arms. He was about to get up to put her in her basinet, but decided not to. He wasn't done holding her.
The End
