Chapter 1: Forever Lost

"Rodolphus Lestrange is a perfectly respectable match for Bellatrix; it's more than anything we could hope for," Branwen Black tutted to her younger sister Camilla. Branwen gazed over the courtyard at the small gathering of people. She spotted her daughter, sitting proudly by the fountain, accepting the many wedding shower gifts, "I only hope that we have this much luck with Narcissia and Andromedea."

"Don't fret, dear sister, Narcissia and Andromedea are beautiful girls. They will wed well and bring honor to the Black name," Camilla said, praising her nieces.

"Thank you, Camilla, your judgment means so much to me," Branwen smiled, "Now tell me about Regulus. I hear he is the top of his class, and only 15?"

"Yes, he is growing in to a fine young man, unlike his brother," Camilla clenched her jaw at the mention of her oldest son, Sirius, "There is no hope for him."

"Not at all?"

"We lost him the moment he was sorted into Gryffindor, the disgrace."

"Regulus makes up for all the mistakes Sirius will ever make. You have taught Regulus well."

"At least we do not have to deal with Sirius, anymore."

"What do you mean, Camilla?"

"He moved out," Camilla replied, "Didn't you know?"

"I did not! But isn't he going into his 7th year at Hogwarts, like Bellatrix?"

"Yes. But it made no difference to him. Conall and I have disowned him from the Black family. He is an outrage, one that I cannot explain, even to you sister."

"I see. Do not worry; the Dark Lord will punish Sirius for what he stands for, while Regulus will be praised," Branwen clasped her sister's hand, then turned toward the sundial that stood only a few feat away, "It is time for us to leave. I thank you sister, for holding this wedding shower. I will make sure that Bellatrix thanks you."

"You are welcome, Branwen. Hopefully I will see you again, soon," Camilla kissed her sister's cheek, bidding her a farewell.

"Do stay in touch, Camilla. It was so long since we had talked," straightening out her robes; Branwen left her sister and walked towards her eldest daughter, Bellatrix.

"Bellatrix, it is time to leave. Bid farewell to your fiancé, darling. I will get our coats," Bellatrix put a hand on her hip, fed up, "Go, Bellatrix! I will not have this wedding ruined on behalf of your stubbornness!" Branwen left leaving Bellatrix alone, yet again.

Bellatrix sighed, and with her dark eyes, she searched the crowd for her fiancé, Rodolphus Lestrange. Her black hair flew about in the wind as strutted towards Rodolphus, a tall, muscular man, with beady eyes and light hair and only a mere two years older than Bellatrix.

She grabbed Rodolphus and hastily said, "I'm leaving."

"I will see you soon, darling," Rodolphus coo-ed.

"Okay," Bellatrix rolled her eyes and walked away. Rodolphus grabbed her arm and dragged her closer to him.

"Stop it! Your hurting me," Bellatrix tried to wriggle free, with no luck.

"You will love me, by next year, you will be mine," Rodolphus leered, letting go of his pursuit.

"I will never be yours, I am my own person," Bellatrix challenged. Rodolphus just stared her down so Bellatrix turned on her heel and walked inside, away from her own wedding shower.

'Remember...he has power. I want...I need power. For when I have power, I have freedom.'
