After spending almost an hour-and-a-half in the somewhat-clean shower of Hogwarts, Draco decided that he was rather pathetic. Surely there was some reason for him to leave the hot water that pulsed over his body. There had to be something worthwhile in his life. He leaned forward, submerging his whole head into the spray. It was time to rethink and recollect himself.

Firstly: his family. While his mother was conceited and more concerned about the amount of liquor in her glass than how her son was doing most of the time, she did have occasional moments when she would call him to her and hug him like she loved him. There were always the wonderful gifts she sent on special occasions, and even something better: privacy. Although she couldn't be called the best mother, he couldn't deny that there was bound to be someone worse.

His father was another story. As a boy, Draco had admired his father, and had lived for small praise that never came. Always striving to please Lucius, he had never been able to find himself or live up to his own standards. His father demanded complete compliance, and in doing so, Draco had lost himself. He had become a replica of his father, and he had to admit to himself that he wasn't sure whether nor not this was a good thing.

Next Draco thought about his friends here at Hogwarts. While there was really no one he could really call a friend, he knew that he could do worse. Crabbe and Goyle were lackeys at best, only bodyguards. They didn't think for themselves, and that made for poor friendship. Blaise might have been considered an exception, if he and Draco talked more or hung out together. He was there, but Blaise was part of the background. And then there was Pansy. The cow was daft if she thought that he would ever consider dating her. She was useful as an arm decoration only when necessary, but other than that, Draco wanted nothing to do with her.

Then there was blessed Potter who was everybody's hero. If Draco could be like that, perhaps his life wouldn't be so bad. After all, Perfect Potter had no problems except for those concerning girls. (Which was silly if you asked him. If he were hero of the wizarding world, he wouldn't have trouble since they would all fall over their feet for him.) Potter had real friends, something that Draco envied. He had a family that loved him- even if it wasn't really his and it was full of weasels- and that would do anything for him.

Oh, great. Wonderful. I want to be part of the weasels. What the hell... Draco thought, pulling his head from out of the water trailing over him. He turned the knob so the water stopped, and opened the door into the cool air. Quickly toweling off and clothing himself -in fine silk as he was wont to do- he charged out of the Slytherin quarters headed for the library. After strolling through two corridors, he bumped into Weaselette. Ginny, he reminded himself, even going so far as to bend down and help her gather her books. She gave him a shocked look, to which he replied with a pleasant smile. She offered a hesitant one at best, and quickly resumed walking in the opposite direction.

After turning to watch her walk away, Draco returned to his mission of going to the library, a last thought fluttering through his head. Weaselette is looking rather lovely these days.
