"C'mon, Ron," Hermione said, brushing her hair out of her eyes. "You need to finish the homework for Professor Trelawney."

"Huh?" Ron had been sleeping. "What? Where? Oh," he said as he looked back on the table, "homework." He slumped down on his chair.

"Don't do that," Hermione laughed. "You'll sleep again, and then you'll never finish this in time. You've got to be attentive--at attention."
"I know what it means," Ron muttered.

The next day in Divination, Professor McGonagall taught them how to turn a human being into another human being of the opposite sex.

"Just say, Gendrchang!, and the person will turn into a female, or male, depending on what gender the person already is. Are there any questions?" No hands went up, so McGonagall continued. "Good, good good. Now, I will demonstrate! Who would like to start? I need a volunteer!" No one's hand raised. Then, Dean Thomas. "Thomas! Would you like to come up here please?"

"Um, no ma'am, I just wanted to say, can't you do it to a frog or something?"

"Thomas! Where you listening when I said that this spell will not work when done to an animal? Only human beings! Do I make myself clear, or must I repeat that?!!"

"I heard you, ma'am." Dean backed down meekly. The teacher had won.

"Good! Now as I was saying, I need a volunteer, a HUMAN volunteer." She glanced witheringly at Dean. Seamus was laughing to himself. "Do you find that funny, Finigan?"
"Um, no ma'am. No ma'am. I wasn't...I mean, I don't think I was laughing."

"You don't think you were laughing?!! Well, let me tell you something! You WERE! Now, apologize for laughing at Thomas!"

"I'm sorry."

"Good! Now finally, I need a volunteer. All right, fine, if no one wants to be chosen, I'll pick them." She closed her eyes and pointed. She had pointed to:

"Harry Potter!"

Ginny gasped and stood up, and walked reluctantly over to McGonagall. She closed her eyes tightly, and waited for McGonagall to humiliate her in front of a lot of people, including her crush. And....

"Genderchang!"

Ginny didn't even get to experience the changing. Next thing she knew, she could have been Ron's twin.

"You see?" McGonagall nodded at everyone. "Now, the tricky part is, getting back. What you need is: deadly mushrooms, which believe me, in this case, will not harm her. You put them into his or her mouth, and they end up fine."

Ron looked horrified. "I think." McGonagall finished.
